EA took its sweet time with this one, but the publisher has finally announced the Mass Effect 3: Earth add-on for the game's multiplayer, which as leaked earlier today, includes three new maps, three new weapons, six new characters, new upgrades and a new higher Platinum difficulty level.

Being called 'Earth' the DLC takes the multiplayer to strategic locations in London, Vancouver and Rio De Janeiro with its new Firebase maps, while the new N7 classes are all various human Alliance elites with their own Biotic powers and skills. The N7 Demolisher Engineer, N7 Destroyer Soldier, N7 Fury Adept, N7 Sentinel Paladin, N7 Shadow Infiltrator and N7 Slayer Vanguard are joined by 12 new weapon modifications and 11 upgrades for your gear.

The three new weapons are the N7 Piranha Shotgun, N7 Typhoon Assault Rifle and Acolyte Pistol, and there'll be a new randomly occuring escort objective at wave 3, 6 and 10 introducing a targeted agent that you have to protect and take to a designated extraction zone on each map.

Mass Effect 3: Earth will be available for the Galaxy at War multiplayer on July 17th and will be completely free to download. Check out the three new screenshots below.

Clearly Bioware doesn't know how to please their fans, unlike Activion.

I would like a new enemy to fight, maybe some of the criminal gangs on Omega? Or maybe just a butt load of Thresher Maws xD called the "Suicide Mission"

Would like to see a new game mode or something, cant seem to think of anything myself but would make multiplayer less repetative.

Here comes more complaining. They gave an extended cut to the ending after so many people complained and the result = more complaints. Then people are complaining about the MP which is an extra to the game and everything for it is free. I loved ME3 SP and MP and I'm sure lots of people do too!

@12 Only reason I played all of those boring games of multiplayer was for the 100% galaxy at war achievement.

I'm shocked that EA/Bioware are still releasing the MP DLC for free now that the good endings are out. Good job guys! :)

I agree with #8. Bioware should combine the three big name mercenary groups from Mass Effect 2 and make them an enemy. It would make sense because Omega was taken over by Reaper forces. The mercenaries that weren't killed right away could be slaved to the Reapers.

how come there are so many thumb downs on this article? some people are supporting bioware and them trying to give free stuff to us and others are complaining about complaining but no matter what everyone gets thumbs down?

OT: i don't go on multiplayer much anymore but this always gives me a reason to come back, nice job bioware

The Extended Cut wasn't for the majority of people who hated the ending. They announced the EC to placate the fans calling for boycotts; who were reporting them to the BBB, FTC, review bombing them via Metacritic, demanding refunds via Amazon.com, voting EA worst company in America, etc.

I, like others never wanted multiplayer in Mass Effect. It took resources away from the actual story, caused outsourcing of major plot elements to what felt like a custodial worker, and ultimately ruined the most important part of the trilogy, the END.

EA can add all the extra horde modes, vs. modes, character, classes, weapons, etc. But it won't revive this ruined franchise for me.

BioWare should rename themselves EA: Edmonton, because I can no longer see any difference.

Directing this at people who say the franchise was ruined by the ending...

Really? And #12 you can't tell the difference between EA and Bioware anymore? Yes EA has spread their greedy arms into Bioware, but Bioware in my opinion has retained it's integrity and really expanded their innovations and tech. And sure they had a few set backs such as DA:2 and SWTOR is slowly dwindling, but regardless how games perform and are reviewed in every Bioware game there is true originality and they do things no other developer does.

I mean honestly I stating this about all games not just Mass Effect. To be honest these so called "let-downs" and "disappointments" and "ruining of games" are all matters of opinion. I hate when people speak as if it is fact. And you know what happens on the internet? It only takes a few people to start to beat down a game in the right places with their opinions and then it spreads like wildfire. This the hopes of people who have not yet played a game or are yet to finish them.

I for one have liked, enjoyed and played a lot of games that people say are "garbage" and such absolute statements.

Do yourself a favor. Play the games before you judge them or read other very spoilerish opinions. "Oh a bunch of people online said the ending sucked so I'm not going even attempt to play it" is the worst type of attitude to have when enjoying any art form.

The ending of Mass Effect 3 was fine the first way around. Mysterious Cliffhanger in one ending. That's a literary device not a cop out. And if you couldn't have guessed what happened to the galaxy and the people you met along the way then you didn't pay close attention to the story as you went along. Almost every major mission and companion closing conversations ended with great closure whether it was a mission gone good or bad. Closure was all throughout the Mass Effect 3, just not right at the end, which lots of people ignored.

Keep the DLC coming Bioware. We'll keep playing :)

The DLC looks cool. Probably a stupid question on my part, but will this DLC mean any new achievements? I'm guessing not, but wasn't sure...

@8 - Considering that in my game, the gangs were War Assets, I wouldn't mind seeing them as playable skins. I'd like to go in as the Blue Suns, Eclipse, or even a Shadow Broker hit squad (thought their armor was boss looking in Lair of the Shadow Broker.)

That being said, I agree that some new enemy types are a necessity to keep MP fresh.

How about they implement the 2 most desired enemy sets that everyone on BSN have been asking for? I want to see the Collectors and the Mercs as enemies. Playing against Geth is boring, Cerberus are now way more irritating after the buff and Reapers are still the most fun in my opinion, but 3 restrictive enemy "sets" is just too little. You don't get that in Gears, you can have Lambent and Locust attacking on any wave, so why is ME3 so inflexible in this regard?

Good to see its free but the multiplayer is just so boring, its just like playing the campaign without the great story over and over again. Its like firefight on halo and spec ops on MW 3,once U finish the level the fun ends.Don't know how anyone can keep playing against bots for hours and hours.

So much complaining, hop off the game then. Don't play MP, don't buy the DLC. Woah, that was hard huh? Jesus Christ.

OT: Excited! Love that they keep 'em free (: I wanna try this new infiltrator out!

I'm quite excited that they haven't lost their drive for support of this game. EA tends to lose interest with their franchises that don't sell real well. The multiplayer events just keep me coming back for more and more, even though I should've already passed interest on this title a long time ago. Now that the extended cut has finally been released, we're starting to get confirmation of more SP DLC. How can this not be awesome?

as long as the multiplayer dlc remains free i'll keep getting it. the multiplayer is fun but like horde on gears it does get repetitive really quick. can't wait for the single player dlc to arrive :)

Let's look at the points.

1. With the addition of the Expanded Cut DLC, and the lowering of the requirements to get the highest Effective Military Strength levels, making the multiplayer almost completely optional. The only reason to really play it now is for that one achievement or because you enjoy multiplayer.

2. All the multiplayer DLC is completely free. You're being offered free stuff. It's your choice if you want it or not.

3. For the people clamoring for single player DLC, there is a piece incoming titled 'Leviathan'. No real word on a release date yet, but it IS coming. Just have a little patience.

Those that complain about the MP etc. are all right, the inclusion of a quite frankly good at release but now boring MP destroyed our franchise, bringing in CoD fanboys who ruined what could've been a nice online community. In the end the MP needs to die,

I think it's great that they are keeping the Multiplayer DLC free. It would be cool if they brought in a new enemy like the Collectors, Mechs or even Mercenaries. Perhaps a different mode like Thresher Maw hunt (#8) or Mako Racing xD
