'raking in a disappointing $335 million worldwide.' What a world we live in when that's disappointing! Game to films died the day Van Dammne punched Raul Julia and the camera zoomed in on his muscles. Now look at him , hes pulling his hair out selling beer on my dashboard. |

Michael Fassbender looks nothing like Altair or Desmond though... Don't get me wrong, he's a great actor, but surely they would look for someone who resembles the the actual characters. And why is he playing both Desmond AND Altair when they are separate people? Desmond should be played by someone else, as he has features from all of his ancestors, not just Altair. |

Any movie made of AC is destined to not only be a failure, but also something else to make the series as a whole, look bad. No movie should ever be made into a game, and no game should ever be made into a movie. When will people realize this? |

That would be incredibly stupid considering that he is an amazing actor, also keep in mind that with the right makeup much is possible, just appreciate they got a first class actor for the AC Movie. |

@5 Because Desmond and Altair share the same character model in the games, they are identical right down to the scar on their mouths, Ezio also looks like Desmond and even shows him getting his scar in a brawl at the beginning of AC2. Its not been fully explained why they all look near identical but their are theories out there. This is why whoever plays Desmond will have to play Altair. |

@15 In Revelations, they have changed Desmond's look slightly to make them more distinctive, and Altair looks a lot different than in the first game as well. I just assumed that Ubi were trying to make them into their own unique characters. I admit that they look very similar, and it can be hard to find look alikes for certain people, but I just feel that unless they can really change his features with make-up it will look very weird having the same person in 2 different time eras. Even stranger when it comes to Ezio/ Altair/ Desmond in AC Revelation movie (assuming the films are popular enough to get that far). |

Prince of Persia was a mediocre, forgettable film. I watched it and enjoyed it enough to not regret it, but there was nothing about it that really stood out in my mind. It was completely average and middle of the road. As for Fassbender in Assassin's Creed, I have no problem with this. The "he doesn't look like Altaïr" argument holds no real relevance to intelligent people. As long as he has the attitude, movements, and speech patterns down, and I have no doubt he can do those things, he will redefine Altaïr. Hugh Jackman didn't look exactly like Wolverine before the first X-Men movie, and I think his portrayal went pretty well. |

| Hm. Not sure how I feel about this. Fassbender's cool and all, but I'm not sure that he's who I picture when I think of Desmond and *especially* Altair. I'll give that he's got a lot of talent, but I'm not sold on him as my key characters just yet. |

| Also, can Fassbender pull of an Arabic accent? He may not have to in the first film because Abstergo's Animus is apparently "primitive" and can't handle giving Altair his actual accent, but if we get through to Revelations, he will need the proper accent. |

| @29 Clearly you have no idea what you are talking about. Watch 'Shame', 'Fish Tank' and 'Hunger' and then tell me Hugh Jackman is a better actor. Fassbender is right up the best of them. He has an unbelievable amount of talent and he has proved he can play hugley differring roles succesfully. He could pull of the remarkably simple character of Desmond/Altier without reading the script most likely. |

I think Fassbender is easily placing himself as one of the new Hollywood elite. The guy just has class, and frankly he scares me. I don't have faith that any game movie can be anything above silly, but his performances are good enough to watch anything. For those who don't think he'll be good at hand-to-hand combat scenes, watch Haywire. |

@ #29: That's subjective and not at all what I was going for. You're on your own there. @ #30/#32: Your not knowing the difference between 'of' and 'off' doesn't exactly give me hope for you, but allow me to explain my original point. Yeah, Fassbender may not look like Altaïr or naturally speak with an Arabic accent, but that's why movie sets have a cosmetics and hair department as well as voice coaches. Besides, Altaïr walks around with half of his face covered up by his hood. What, you thought Fassbender was just going to walk off the street, glance at his lines, and start a scene on the fly? Come on, give it ten seconds of thought. |

@45 of/off was a typo, it happens sometimes. And, I'm not saying that he won't be able to pull it off, or that he is just going to glance at his lines. I'm just giving my opinion that from what I have seen him in previously, although a brilliant actor who can pull off many different roles, at the moment I personally am not convinced that he is right for this role in particular. I may be proven wrong, but at this stage I am not entirely convinced. I am just hoping that for once a movie can actually make a game's story work as well as if it had originally been written for the movie itself, while staying as close to the original game as possible. That's why I am voicing my current concerns. But as I say, I may be proven wrong and change my mind when some footage comes out. |

All that we know *for sure* is that a)Fassbender and his production company are developing the film and b) he's going to have a part in the eventual movie. We don't know *what* part so all the praise/condemnation towards the idea of him playing Altair and/or Desmond is a bit premature. |

| @ #46: Read what #49 posted, throw in that there are 420 flags in the original game, and ask yourself if you really want a movie based on AC to stick to the game as closely "as possible". The slow parts of AC1 are possible, but no one is their right mind wants to watch that. Adaptations will have to be made. It would be unwise to get into your head that a movie HAS to be a certain way. Keep your mind open. |

Michael Fassbender will play "the iconic hooded hero" - for anything we know, this could be Ezio or even Connor from Assassin's Creed 3. Nobody knows yet, which eras and which assassins will be covered in the movie. |

I think Fassbender would play great as Desmond/Altair. It doesnt matter if he doesnt look like them, as long as the movie kicks ass. Look at Max Payne and Prince of Persia. Mark Wahlberg looks like Max, he did ok but the movie sucked. WTF with the story. He wanted to get revenge, not bullshit with drugs. Jake Gyllenhaal looks like the Prince, but what really fucked up the movie was that it was a different plot. The Prince has a name and the only thing that the dagger did was Rewind. What happened to Slow Motion, Haste and Freeze? (And see the future) Blame the movie makers, not the actors. |

You know, people... if these movies HAD to have stars that looked EXACTLY like the characters being portrayed, it might: NEVER HAPPEN; only happen if it were animated, or... you had better expect to have some fucked-up-looking actors looking like some erratic animation that some of these games can have. Besides... we currently have a "blonde" Bond, a "black" Nick Fury (and Samuel L. Jackson is pretty awesome in the role)... I don't think perfect resemblance is that critical. I'm more concerned about the story that most of these awful game-to-movie releases we've had! There's only been a few that were good. |

@70 You KNOW what I mean... Nick Fury did not originate as a black character! I have no problem with the reinterpretation of the character. Nick Fury isn't as well known (or loved) as other Marvel characters. I don't think ANYONE would have accepted Jackie Chan playing Wolverine, for example (although... I would probably be laughing the whole time, watching him play the part - it would just be really weird)! :-p I haven't read comics since I was a teen... not looking to get back into them. |

Why pay for a film when you have 4-5 perfectly good games that you could live. It baffles me! Movie producers/writers need to come up with something new and exciting other than recycling the same old. But oh well, who am I? They have the money lol |
