Chock-full of political intrigue, conspiracy, betrayal and vengeance, Game of Thrones is a meaty property and fertile source material for an RPG. Tasked with adapting George RR Martin's rich lore is Cyanide Studios, who started out creating the game based purely on the first novel in the series. With a story penned by Martin himself, you play as Mors Westford in the Night's Watch and red priest Alester Sarwyck, seeing two very different sides of Westeros. Down the line, the hit HBO show came along and the game changed somewhat, but at its core, Game of Thrones is a linear RPG in the Dragon Age mould. But has Cyanide been successful in capturing the richness and intricacy of Martin's work or does Game of Thrones fall short of the mark? Should the developer be sent to The Wall to take the black or do they deserve a place on the Iron Throne? | |
