Call of Duty: World at War to Premiere This Weekend

Call of Duty: World at War to Premiere This Weekend
Written Tuesday, June 17, 2008 by Dan Webb

Microsoft have just announced that Call of Duty 5, now called Call of Duty®: World at War, will make its world premiere this weekend. The reveal trailer will be available on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace between June 21-22.

For those that are blissfully unaware, Call of Duty: World at War will be heading back to "redefine" WWII and challenges "players to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles of the Pacific and European theaters."

Call of Duty: World at War is set to touch down around Christmas time of this year.

^Agreed. I would like to see Treyarch bow out of the COD series, but I still have hopes that it'll be a good game.

It should be out in Novemeber right? COD games are always released in November.

Im skeptical, but ill give it a shot. Im kind of sick of WW2 games, half the reason of the success of COD4 is that it broke the mould and did an up-to-date game, the other half was the sheer awesomeness. I would be happy if they kept the sheer awesomeness half for COD5.

I'm a little concerned of this since cod3 was weak compared to 2 an 4 it wasn't as intense and challenging, but never the less I'm still getting it cod games have been really fun never know Treyarch mite bring out all the stops with this and surprise everyone

Yeah im a bit skeptical about this. Im not too sure about treyarch doing this after the amazing job that infinity ward did. I'm willing to give it a try if they can prove it will be as good if not better than cod4. (even though that will be fucking hard to do.)

it's cod, it'll be good no matter where it's set, besides, there's never been a good game about the pacific theatre of war.

Make a WWI game stop the WWII stuff please!!! Only thing i've seen in a game that was close to WWI, was in the darkness and eventhen it was twisted. There is game coming out which is WWI though called 'the war to end' or somthink like that.... That was kinder off topic oh well weeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Spam!!!

At least this Call of Duty has a 2 year development cycle rather than only 1 year like Call of Duty 3; if that was developed with the same amount of time number 2 was then I'm sure it would have been a much better game. Here's hoping this one will be. >_

i hopoe theres no online achievements actually because it makes the game have reason to play the game for fun and not say go a match with say atleast 1 headshot and survive the match it would just ruin if you get where im coming from

I prefer COD 3 to 4 so I'm stupidly excited for this, more than I was for 4. For me, COD 4 didn't have the same 'Wow' factor than 2 and 3. I loved Treyarch's multiplayer ideas, and having the 4 player split screen on live option is what makes it better.

Sorry guys, but COD 4 (in my opinion) didn't do it for me.

For the people that didn't like CoD3, Treyarch also made CoD:UO one of the better if not the best CoD game(expansion).

Sounds like I'm one of the few who actually enjoyed playing COD3. The campaign was a little weak but I really enjoyed the online multiplayer.

Thought COD4 was ok, the graphics were absolutley mind blowing, but it got a bit stale for me.

Another group of posts with people complaining about CoD3 and CoD5? OH MY GOD! Yeah that is what everyone sounds like when they complain. At least they are doing something different and won't stick to mainly just the European Theater. Who knows maybe they will actually put some multiplayer achievements and make me play it more than CoD4.

I'm willing to give this a shot as I enjoyed COD3, and I read the preview in OXM, it looks sweet.

I think it will probably be garbage. I heard it is being made by the same people who did COD3 and that was the biggest wast of disk space of all WWII games ever. Maybe they will do better this time around. Hopefully that don't try to put in vehicles this time.

It's way too soon for another COD game. I'm still in love with the COD4 multiplayer and will still be playing it for a long time. I don't need a new COD game and I think putting it out so soon is going to bite them in the ass.

well it sucks that treyarch is making it.
but it its cool that theyre going back to world war 2, so they can make a truly next gen world war 2 game. (although cod2 was amazing, its graphics and physics were weak compared to stuff now)
and maybe treyarch will learn from their mistakes in cod3 and make it not suck balls.

I agree with some people saying that there are enough WWII games out already, we don't need more. But I am looking foward to it because I do like WWII games, I'm just saying that there are too many right now. This game from what I have seen and heard seems like it will be a really good game.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
