| Man, they really want us to play kinect...i really miss the old days sometimes..taking a pad round to a friend's house to play multiplayer, blowing down the cartridge if it didn't work, and finding out secrets to games through friends on the playground.. |

As long as they have a "normal" control-scheme as well, it's fine by me, some stuff, like shouting commands and so on might even be a good thing?
I have a Kinect still boxed in my Star Wars console bundle, but I've never used it, I guess I'm just not a Kinect kind of guy... |

Funny how the NES Zapper and PS G-Con are still more fun and reliable than Kinect. Or is that just me?
But really,I like to sit down to play games (hell I even did when I had a Wii) but here we need to stand up, have the camera at the right level and adjustments and have a massive space to 'play' in. then we have to hope we swing in the right degree to make it do what we want. Can we just have a Blu-Ray Xbox with better graphics, full Xbox back catalogue compatibility and hell, even Games for Windows and PC game usability. That would be just perfect, fuck off with Kinect, No used games, Smart Ass and Aug RG (Nintendo tried years ago and that failed, don't try again, we'll just look even more retarded playing games). |

Everyone does realise that this document was just a potential roadmap and is already 2x years old right?
This is not final details of the new console, it is purely a speculative forward planning document.
For example, It's like if I wrote a file now that planned how I might like to upgrade my PC in three years.
In those three years, things are going to change. That document is literally, years out of date.
Whilst I believe core concepts will have remained very similar, I don't think we should be looking at it like it contains the details of the next Xbox, because it doesn't. It was simply a set of recommendations for what it should be able to do when they release it in the future. |

They've hinted at bluray a number of times,they're pushing kinect like some drug dealer and now with smart glass coming soon,its obviously here to stay. The projected price is nice though! Lets hope the hardware rumors of ATI 7xxx series equivilants are true too! |

Here in the Netherlands, most Kinect titles cost no more than 20€ (or 25$ or so)

If the rumors that kinect v2 can detect individual finger movement are true it really would change gaming on the nextbox. Augmented Reality glasses could create the fake world around you, and kinect can see you move. In short it could be the first step towards a holodeck/virtual reality. Even if its just used as a way of making standard TVs 3D, or creating virtual control panels to make kinect control easier, its going to be a powerful combination.
Of course i doubt any of it would stop people complaining about kinect. |

I bought kinect, sold it on ebay before the following xmas. Found it to be a gimmick, and it made you feel like a bellend when shouting "XBOX", other than when it didn't work too well, then it went "xbox... ....xbox... ...XBOX... ...f*cking hell, XBOX... ...F*UCK OFF".
I don't want/need any of this bizz. I must be getting old. Think I'll skip the new xbox and trade my ducati monster in for a newer model. |

Kinect is a fucking gimmick. Why is Microsoft so insistent on making Kinect its flagship peripheral for the Xbox brand, when it has absolutely no core games for it that have looked even remotely interesting. It may be an 'optional' component to my gaming experience now; but how long before every AAA title tries to implement it's flawed design into the core gameplay? When will Microsoft get it through their head that I don't want to flail my fucking arms around to play their cookie-cutter Mario Party port.

You dont have to use it if you dont like it.
I personally love it because my girl loves it, now we can play together.
I dont care that the games suxs because its still fun in my world because i love gaming.
they made kinect for women and kids to reach out to a new kind of customer.

| I don't get why everyone hates on Kinect. My only guess is that the ones complaining about voice recognition have a lisp. For me, Kinect works better than Siri does on the iPhone. As for the games, yes there are crappy games for it, but there are crappy Xbox games as well. There are some good Kinect games and its only a matter of time before some publisher finds the right combination to make it amazing. Modern Warfare changed FPS games and caused a ton of clones. It will happen for something on Kinect as well. |

| Why is it that everyone hates the Kinect? It is good for what it is. My two sons and I play the Kinect sports all the time. It allows me to play games with my kids and them not just sit around. There's a time for sitting and enjoying a video game as there is a time for my children and I to be up and active. | @45 It is because they are all stubborn and lazy, maybe jealous that their is easy gs games on kinect that they can't use, who knows. I personally enjoy the kinect, I have games that I can play with my kids(a couple I wish I could unplay also lol) and games that I can enjoy on my own. I don't need it for the fitness/health side of it but I know people that have it for that reason and it has helped them out a lot since they got it. Many great things it does, looking forward to this new kinect stuff |

@ 45 so agree can't we be happy to just have both styles of gameplay,thats how i use it too,got a 3 year old ,we play tons of kinect games,but i also play non kinect stuff too,after work, late at night with my online friends.
I suspect ms knows alot of the hardcore gamers are starting to get older,wife,kids,less time,so adapting to it,to the ppl who hate kinect i say this,this leak should make you happy,there is still going to be a option for vanilla controller only gaming!,its confirmed u should be smiling :)

I'm constantly reading about how much of a failure Kinect is to the point I'm about to throw up. If this were the case, then how in the world have they sold so many? Obviously there are a lot of people out there who think otherwise. Is Kinect great? No. Is it good? Yes. But these are just my opinions. Should it be any surprise that the newer console will offer a better version of Kinect? Probably not if you look back at how technology changes in history.
I think when Microsoft built the Kinect, they enabled developers to do some really cool things with their games. Now whether or not developers take advantage of the Kinect, that's up to them. They don't have to obviously, but I think there are scenarios where having a Kinect works really well and could be used to enhance the game experience. I believe Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim are two really good examples. They don't require Kinect so why do so many people complain about it? Saying something is "crap" or that "it sux" (for those of you who still haven't learned how to spell) isn't a very good reason in my opinion. Truth be told, if I had to guess... I bet half of those complaining still don't own one.
While I'm on the fence about Kinect, I like it more than I hate it. I think it's really good and works really well in some situations. This doesn't apply to all obviously and developers should know what key situations to use when making a game that has Kinect features. Outside of gaming, the Kinect is doing some really cool things too. You guys and gals should search for things that people are building with the Kinect SDK and you might be surprised.
Okay, wow... didn't realize how annoyed I was. Back on topic.
As far as an new console is concerned, as many have said, this document is very old. And I think someone gave a great example earlier about building a new PC. When you build a product, you always want to consider the future and what you'd like to ideally put into your next product. There might be new and cool technologies available at that time that you can't include in your console because of price but later down the road, they may have a higher possibility of making the cut when it comes to what features will be included and which won't in the next iteration of your console. But we're talking about technology and anytime you start talking hardware, forget it. You can buy a brand new PC today with all the latest bells and whistles and it'll be outdated before it arrives at your doorstep. |

If i can't transfer all my xbla games and xbox games as well as saves, Rock band songs and baisically everything from my 360 to this 720 then ill be pissed. They really need to show that they care that you are a customer, and show that it means something that you have chosen the xbox brand, and to me that means dont ditch all the supposrt for the thousands of dollars i have spent on 360 stuff.. even with that keep support for original xbox games! really it makes everyone trust you more. Id like to get rid of my 360 for a 720 but if i can transfer all the stuff i have.. it just wont be worth it for a couple years |

I used to post my opinion on this site's news articles all the time, then I realised that you are all a bunch of pessimistic cunts who are not happy unless you are unhappy about something.
Fact of the matter is, nobodies forcing you to buy a kinect, and although I admit the choice of games is dismal, it's still an amazing piece of technology. Anybody who disagrees has never used it in there own gaming area, or an idiot, plain and simple.
I had no intention of buying a kinect, until I saw some good, interesting games be released for it, but my girlfriend got me one as a surprise, and I have to say, I love using voice command to navigate the dashboard. People say 'I don't want to have to jump around to use my xbox'... when I see the controller at the other side of the room, just after I plonk my ass on a seat. I shrug and say 'xbox'....
So just try not to be such an ignorant, annoying cunt hating a piece of technology just because your an idiot... I bet every one of you have a computer and only 1% knows what it can do.. |
