Ubisoft has reassured fans that Rainbow Six: Patriots is still in development at Ubisoft Montreal, following concern about the game’s no show at E3 2012.

Ubisoft marketing VP Tony Key confirmed the news, saying that the publisher didn’t feel like it was the right time to show the game off.

“Let’s just say that Rainbow 6 is still in active development but what we decided was that the best thing for the brand was to not bring it to the show right now,” said Key.

“We have a lot of other games that we want to focus people on and there will be more information on Rainbow coming.”

Key was also quizzed about the possibility of patriots sliding to next-gen. His, rather cool, reaction was to say, “This [PS3/360] is the only generation that I know about, so I would assume yes.”

Heavy Rain designer Jean-Sebastien Decant took over the creative director role on the game from David Sears earlier this year.

Rainbow Six: Patriots is due out next year.

  • Missing RB6 in my life, loved both Vegas games. Calypso Casino was like a second home to me! Really hope this does come out sooner rather than later.
  • Thank god ! Would have been really bummed if it got cancelled.
  • PLEASE! Take your time! No rush, just make this game amazing!
  • Considering Ubi-Montreal is working on both Assassins Creed 3 and Watch dogs its no wonder they haven't made much progress here. I also kinda think that this game would do much better on a next gen system, it seemed like it was doing a lot of out-of-the-ordinary things (and we've never seen the actual in-game engine).
  • So Ubi did or didn't feel it was right for E3? This articles summary is a double negative!
  • Not worth showing, but its due out next year. This is going to be one of those games that gets delays upon delays, I can just tell.
  • doesnt matter if they release it tomorrow or next year,it wont be ready,gr:fs was delayed for years and still come out full of bugs, lots of lag online, server crashes, and people keep getting rank reset despite beta testing,im sick of games getting released that are no where near finished
  • I'm a huge Rainbow fan, but please take all the time you need to perfect this! no sense in rushing since as #5 said, Watch Dogs is probably going to take a considerable amount of time to finish. Looking forward to Patriots!
  • Might want to clear up the double-negative in the subtitle for this post. lol
  • cant wait for the new rainbow six, vegas is probably the best online experience ive had im sure showing a little teaser would of been better than nothing at all
  • good they didn't show it and potentially get panned by critics. keep it under wraps, finish and polish, then show when ready. I want a solid R6 experience, anyone remember Lockdown? ugh...
  • I def enjoyed the Rainbow Six games as much as i did the GRAW 1 & 2 games, but damn reading thru this post makes me feel just as when they showed off footage from Ghost Recon Future Soldier at the E3 2010 and then the changed it around two times and when it did finaly showed up a few weeks ago alot tells it has come into age, so i hope Rainbow Six not faces the same faith.
  • I look forward lots of Ubisoft titles on way soon like Assassin's Creed III, Rayman Legends, Far Cry 3, ZombiU (Wii U) and some more this year then 2013 will see this one, Splinter Cell Blacklist, Watch Dogs, Ghost Recon Online (Wii U) and more!!!
  • i agree with the other comments, i would rather wait and them get it right rather than rush it.
  • @6 - How exactly is the article summary a double negative? OT: I'm not surprised they decided not to show this. Probably didn't want to steal any thunder away from AC3 or Watch_Dog.
  • I hope it's worth the wait, because it looks so awesome!
  • @12 I do remember RB: Lockdown. There were some interesting features that I'd like to see brought back or refined (mainly the inventory system; Sledgehammers!), but it was too focused on pandering to the action-oriented mainstream with it's scripted firefights, RPG ambushes, and such...much like modern shooters. OT: Best game news I've heard all week. Bring back armor customization, these other shooters just don't get it.
  • Great,i enjoyed every rainbow six game so far. the graphics are going to be amazing! cant wait to put the disc inside my xbox and start playing it!
  • Sadly it makes sense to have a 2014 release. 1 Tom Clancy game a year
  • I want this to come out more than any other game.
