| When I first saw these images, I thought "they look just like the current high end 360 graphics". But then I looked a bit closer, and saw the details and scratches on the walls, the reflection on the floor from the glowing hammer and the flying fire particles, and suddenly thought "I need the next-gen console NOW!" |

Beautiful. But I worry sony and M$'s next gen consoles wont be the leap forward Blezsinski hopes it will be because they both (M$ in particular) want to corner the casual market and make their consoles the only box everyone has under their TV-serious next gen tech would cost a lot (look at PC's nowadays)and the casual market wont pay that kind of money for a beast of a gaming machine just to use love film, sky and play the odd kinect game. |

@34 games are certainly not all about graphics... and if that what your hoping for dont expect much. graphics are already good and getting better with time not with consoles. I would hope that there would be faster load times, better multiplayer servers to accommodate more players, less lag and better security(not that it's really a problem) Graphics are the last thing we need in a list of needs for a new console. |

We don't need better graphics we need more power. Look at games like Witcher 2 and Battlefield 3 on PC. That's what we need on consoles. There is a wall when it comes to graphics and its a wall that won't be brought down or hopped over anytime soon. At this point it all comes down to high end graphics mixed with art style and then taking all that power and doing what you can with it. graphics=/=good game |

Say what you will about Xbox users; at least you can write them off as juvenile racists. PC gamers will haunt your shit. They'll emasculate you and your system specs, flame you across obscure message boards, paste your IP address publicly for others to see, and threaten to hack you. The PC Game Experience: 1.Insert the DVD ROM. Run the autoplay that it starts up, if your PC is foolishly configured to run what ever DVD you insert into it. 2.Run through the typically crappy win32 installation script. 3.Type in 20 alphanumberic digits to prove that you are either not a thief, or a thief bright enough to copy a 20 digit number along with a DVD-ROM. 4.Try starting the game. 5.Find out that the “spooge could not be found.” 6.Google for “Spooge could not be found” and discover it means that you don’t have direct X 9.0c installed on your PC. 7.Install Direct x 9 on your PC. No, wait, unpack the installation files for Direct X 9 and then run an installation program off the directory. 8.Hope your PC still boots. It does 9.Start the game. 10.Discover that the game lets you move the camera in every direction except up. 11.Search the web for patches. Find several, none of which are hosted by the maker of the defective software. 12.Fill out two registration forms, including ones that want your birthday, to download patches. Let me get this straight — I’m sold buggy software and now I have to provide my personal information to get the fixes for bugs? 13.Try to figure out which ones you have to download. Do you have to download each one in order, or are they all inclusive? 14.Struggle through the download process, which is the typical crapware that wants to install an executable so I can simply download a file. Not like that problem hasn’t been solved on TCP/IP for thirty years. 15.Discover you’ve downloaded a patch for “Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War”, not “Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War: Dark Crusade”. Download the correct patches. 16.Discover that the training module works, but that the game does not. Xbox 360 : 1 Buy the game 2 insert the game into your xbox 360 3 play the game |

To hell with PC gaming. @50 You took the words right out of my mouth bro. I've been gaming since the Oddysee 2.. 1978 and never did I ever feel the need to look elsewhere for my gaming other than consoles. And to the people that actually have the free time to game on everything out there.. I think they need to take a step back and enjoy real life just a little bit more. Honestly though, these images arn't really any better than the visuals of gears 3 from what I can tell. |

everyone knows the Unreal Engine's shortcomings are loading issues with environment layers early in each scene or after continued play without clearing cache nobody doubts the engine has great ability to create beautiful environments, i rarely play a game that uses the engine with horrible overall graphics, but nearly 99% of them have those same issues listed above. |

Forum Posts: 754 | Comment #60 by eiVaL Friday, May 18, 2012 @ 03:53:59 AM

The snow covered mountains look really good. The image with the red-hot hammer-like weapon and the character in the back, look like original Xbox -not even 360. So does the last image -the one with planets in it. The rest look just ok. |
|

Forum Posts: 56 | Comment #67 by BrySkye Friday, May 18, 2012 @ 07:25:03 AM
What we can't get from screenshots is things like a consistent, smooth framerate. For all we know, the goal from the engine in these images might be 60fps, though a perfectly consistent 30fps is still plenty good. There is also draw distance to consider. Pretty as Skyrim is, it is still apparent on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions when objects fade in quite sharply. There are lots of ways for graphics to improve the visual and even gameplay experience over what we have now without just throwing more polygons into the mix. |

| @48 - *sighs* -_- you sound about 12, am i correct in my assumption? Seems like everytime i read an internet comment regarding PC gaming its just lije yours, sad really. I unlike you and your ilk care more about gameplay. Yea you get better visuals but it doesnt alter how the game plays. Im past the age of "oh that looks so amazing i have to buy it" because all we get are games that play the same but just look better. AI is still very basic which is something id like to see improve. Still if the next generation kills off even more genres all well be left with is FPS WRPGS and the odd racer......whoops we already are. |

| Obviously the first screens of a new engine are never what the engine can really look like. The guys using the software need to get to know all the little quirks in the new engines. For comparison's sake, look at the first Gears of War and compare it to Mass Effect 3 or Gears of War 3. |

| Let's hope that this coming generation is above the 24-30 FPS standard we keep getting. I want some 60 FPS games, please! I've seen the engine demo they have on YouTube, and it's amazing, but all the particle effects and model morphing in the world crammed in to a console that can't handle it will bring the frame rate down, again. |
