THQ has released its fiscal 2012 Q4 results and year end results today, revealing that Obsidian Entertainment's South Park: The Stick of Truth (formerly South Park: The Game) has been delayed into THQ's fiscal Q4 2013, which by our reckoning is Q1 2013.

That means it'll now launch in the same 2013 release window as THQ's Metro: Last Light, with the publisher's annual WWE title also slated to land in 2013. Obviously. Darksiders II is still set for August 2012 and Saints Row: The Third - Enter the Dominatrix will be launching in September 2012.

Talking of Saints Row, THQ also reported that the Saints Row franchise as a whole has shipped a staggering 11 million units, with 4.25 million units of Saints Row: The Third being shipped. Rebranding the WWE franchise for WWE '12 also helped the company's wrestling title to 2.2 million units shipped to date. UFC Undisputed 3 meanwhile, has shipped 1.4 million units.

Last, but not least, THQ is also looking to drop Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third. Itagaki's first project with his new outfit Valhalla Games since uncerimoniously departing Team Ninja, the shooter title has been shelved by the publisher. Bah! Still, it could be picked up by another publisher. Maybe.

  • Bioshock infinite, Tomb Raider and now South Park what's next...
  • Hopefully it's only because they need more time to polish it. This game has a lot of potential.
  • From what I saw of the Devils Third it seemed kind of intriguing. I guess I won't be playing that one now. Oh well, plenty of good games still coming to keep me occupied...
  • THQ's fiscal quarters as all messed up. There pretty much a full year ahead of real time.
  • THQ doesn't seem like its gonna die...
  • Am I the only one who thinks this game is just gonna be cancelled?.
  • Damn, Devil's Third looked to have potential. Hoping it gets picked up elsewhere like Sleeping Dogs did.
  • I am saying it now. RIP THQ
  • WWE games have gotten better every year IMO im excited for south park but wwe normally comes out at the end of the year (wwe12 came out nov 2011) so why would we have to wait til 2013 for wwe13
  • No Devil's Third? :( Still have Metro Last Light, South Park and Darksiders II on the way at least. Not to mention SRTT: Enter The Dominatrix ( I know many of you think 3 is shit compared to 2 but I loved it ) and the inevitable Saints Row 4 ( which better disregard the SPOILERS death of Gat and the shit mission choice to sacrifice Shaundi & Viola to kill Killbane ). Hopefully Saints Row 4 will be unveiled before too long as 3 was too short with a lot of crappy activities ( seriously, fuck Snatch & Escort. Get rid of them & bring back Septic Avenger and FUZZ )
  • More polish? No problem.
  • I agree that its weird about WWE13 coming out next year. THQ are doing fine in my opinion. I loved Saints Row 3 and am intrigued about Enter the Dominatrix, Darksiders was awesome and Darksiders 2 looks much more epic and I also think WWE12 was a big improvement. To me, their franchises are improving greatly!
  • @10 - I'd rather they didn't announce SR4 just yet, given the lack of stuff to do in SR3. Best they have plenty of time to work on it before announcing anything.
  • @#1 I couldn't agree more, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and South Park were all day one pick up for me. Hopefully Darksiders II, Borderlands 2, Halo 4, Assassins Creed 3 and Black Ops 2 all release this year as planned (all ready got them all paid for). Just wish I could get a solid release date for Aliens Colonial Marines so I can go preorder that.
  • Will this be the first time that a game with a year in the title gets released in the same year as the title?(If that makes any sense). Like WWE 12 was 2011 etc WWE 13 will be 2013
  • And here we have another game pushed back because the dominance of the black ops 2.
  • Aw no I was looking forward to Devil's Third for so long T_T
  • @1: Yep, all those games didn't want to get crushed by Black Ops 2 in Fall 2012. About time publishers got smart, I say. Why would you purposefully send your game to get poor sales in Fall when you can release it during the rest of the year, most of which is completely devoid of huge releases?
  • I'm gonna be honest; I'm not a big fan of the show... but I was actually looking forward to this! D: (Badly.) Ah well... 2012 will go quick anyway.
  • I have a strange feeling that Call of Duty won't sell as well this year. Modern Warfare 3 didn't break any records if I'm correct, and most of my friends were/are looking to buy Bioshock Infinite and Halo 4 respectively. Anyway, it's a shame that South Park was pushed back, but on the bright side, it looks like Obsidian may be trying to prevent the troubles they've had with previous games, which is always good I guess!
  • Can't say I'm bothered too much with the delays. There's plenty of great games coming out this year.
  • I honestly think we're being trolled whatever fuck these devs im not buying their games anymore
  • South Park has been street dated for 1/1/13 since it was announced. So it hasn't been pushed back.
  • Aw too bad :/ Why is everything getting delayed??
  • umm, Q4 2013? the fuck?
  • Good god. People like #18s first sentence makes me glad I no longer play Call of Duty or Modern Warfare. Stupid, just stupid.
  • those screenshots make it look like all the rest of the stupid side scrolling south park games on arcade.... i was hoping it would be more like the old N64 south park game that was in 1st/3rd person and let you see the world from their eyes
  • #18 Irrational games is one of the few developers in the world that is top notch. When ken Levine says they need more time to polish bioshock infinite he's telling the truth. No he's not afraid too launch same time as that overhashed shooter black ops. You have fun playing your same yearly shooter with a different title while February ill be playing a masterpiece with bioshock infinite.
  • Sorry #16
  • #16 & 18
  • SR:TT ships over 4 Million? *And I helped!* Easily the best game of 2011. Easily. Good show, THQ! Sad to see South Park slip away, but what can you do? Give it the polish it deserves, and we'll all be better for the wait!
  • 11 Million shipped for the SR series? Seems low to me to be honest simply because of how fun the games are and then you have GTA IV selling more than double that. Its odd the series is just pure fun but its not getting the sales it deserves.
  • @6 I'd say you are. Too much has gone into the game now for it to be dropped. Trey and Matt having a major influence and input is a real plus to me, and after the phenomenal success of the Book of Mormon I doubt they'd risk dropping this. Parker and Stone are avid gamers themselves so the fact they may have a game they finally like about their show is something to look forward to. They've hated pretty much every other South Park game made, so I think they did a good thing letting Obsidian take the reigns. Yes, yes, Obsidian glitches blahblahbah. When you consider glitches in 2D games they are much fewer than 3D as there are less planes to traverse and go wrong, so I expect a few glitches here and now, but nothing game breaking. Anyway, a wait is a wait. I waited 5 Years to get a PS3 and play MGS4. I can wait a few months for a South Park game. I have most of the others to subside me as well as about 20 other games (Psychonauts, Silent Hill 2, 3, 4, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Star wars TFU, Rayman Origins, Dead Rising Off the Record, and a hell of a lot more). I just look forward to see how the game is coming along.
  • wait, 2012 is over for them, and the actual year isn't even half way thru yet? how does that work?
  • @15 No the F1 games by Codemasters come out the same year as they are dated.
  • Everything getting delayed because it needs more "polish" doesn't seem right to me. I don't remember so many games getting delayed before like this.
