Looks like the cat is already out of the bag The major Hitman announcement teased for Thursday has been revealed via an ad in the latest Game Informer. It’s a spin-off game called Sniper Challenge.

To access the game you will have to pre-order Hitman: Absolution. Doing so will bag you a code that unlocks Sniper Challenge. From there you will be able to take on a replayable sniper mission, the aim being to climb to the top of the leaderboards and earn prizes.

Though full details of these prizes have not yet been announced, the advert does mention an exclusive rifle with upgrades, which can presumably be used in Hitman: Absolution itself.

Expect a full reveal with more details on Thursday. You can see the Game Informer ad below.

  • I'm totally gonna get in on this. Also, firs...nevermind.
  • wasn't this announced, or at least talked about, ages ago? i swear i have huge deja vu reading this.
  • Still no RELEASE DATE...
  • @4 Go get a new spoiler. You dropped that one over a week now, and judging by its opening numbers, most people have The Avengers by now. I realy wouldn't hesitate to knock you one if I ever saw you.
  • @5 Dante has black hair?
  • @4, if I didn't already watch it, I would use a very particular set of skills at my disposal. I would find you and I would kill you.
  • @4 I'm going to see Avengers in about an hour. I hope you die.
  • @4 ....you tit
  • @4 - dick move man. dick move. also bruce willis was dead the whole movie.
  • Wait, so Darth Vader is Luke's father?
  • I couldn't believe the way Snape came in and killed Dumbledore... some bullshit. They were like brothers.
  • A pre-order exclusive mode, eh? I was really looking forward to just buying this at the Post Exchange on release day - They don't have a gamestop (as far as I know) where I am stationed in Korea.
  • It's very nice giving us a preorder incentive and all but have they not thought that more people would preorder the game if they gave us a release date? Fingers crossed that they will announce it on Thursday.
  • @15 The game has to be done, or very close to it. If they are looking to be locking a mode away on the disc now, I'd wager the bulk of the game is pretty much complete. That, or the game has gone gold already, and the devs are working on this mode right now.
  • This preorder bullshit needs to stop.
  • @17 The pre-order stuff is just fine because you get it with the game, what needs to stop is stuff removed from a completed game, turned into DLC and then sold later on thats what needs to stop. OT: Im excited for this, they are releasing so much info its like the game is coming out in a few weeks and they forgot to give a release date lol. Ah well hopefully we get one soon!
  • I missed the Avenger's spoiler. Really though, nothing in it is really spoil-able. Even if you knew the entire plot it's still worth seeing just because it is a great film. Cost them almost a quarter of a BILLION dollars and they will make a tonne of money back from it too. Hollywood really does have a shocking amount of cash kicking about... As for Hitman, I'm quite excited. I didn't play the first but Hitman 2 was phenomenally good. IT says a lot about a game when you can watch a map with dots walking about for 20 minutes to perfect a strategy and it not be boring, but be very rewarding. Contracts was quite poor but Blood Money was back toward the right direction. I look forward to this as a probably day 1 buy (if reviews are poor I might wait for a price drop though)
  • Can't we for once just go into any store we like at any date we like and buy a full game on a disc? Obviously not
  • A bit off topic - but I can't help imagining Jason Statham as Agent 47 in a new movie.
  • Are you guys not reading the whole thing? It's a separate thing from the main game, not a DLC for it.
  • I love hitman, but this sounds like a dumb gimmick to convince me to buy it at shitty gamestop. I stopped feeding those day robbers ages ago and I won't start now LOL Will totally pick up game on release though!
  • Wow no one seems to realize that this sniper challenge is obviously seperate from the game. It is not DLC it is a spin-off, something you download obviously. Read the pre-order card, it says preorder Hitman: absolution at gamestop and start competing today. Now how can it be locked DLC on the disc if once you preorder it, get the code and take on the challenge that same day and the game isn't even out yet? People are so quick to complain about things, take the time to read, once you do that take your time and think carefully before you respond.
  • Looks to be pretty inerestin
