Bethesda and Amazon.com Announce Fallout 3 Survival Edition

Bethesda and Amazon.com Announce Fallout 3 Survival Edition
Written Friday, June 06, 2008 by Dan Webb

Bethesda today announced that they will be selling an exclusive Survival Edition only on Amazon.com which is available for pre-order now.

This ultimate Fallout 3 package includes a life-size replica of the Pip-Boy 3000, the wrist-mounted device worn by characters in-game. The Pip-Boy 3000 has been painstakingly recreated and modified for real world display as a digital clock. In addition to the Pip-Boy 3000, the Survival Edition will include all of the items included in the Fallout 3 Collector’s Edition:

The Fallout 3 game;
Customized, metal Vault-Tec lunch box;
5” Vault Boy Bobblehead;
‘The Art of Fallout 3’ hardcover book; and
‘The Making of Fallout 3’ DVD

“We’re thrilled to be working with Amazon.com on this exclusive edition,” said Vlatko Andonov, president of Bethesda Softworks. “The Survival Edition offers gamers the unique opportunity to own a piece of video game history along with a collection of limited edition items – it’s the definitive Fallout 3 package.”

You must be quick to snap one of these up though because according to Product Manager at Bethsoft, they are "very limited quantities. We wanted to do it in a way that they were really exclusive for folks that got them. So once they’re gone…and they’ll go quickly…they are gone for good. We aren’t making any more."

Drop what you're doing now and go pre-order one. For more details on the special Survival Edition, head here.

Dude it is the pipboy 3000 made into an alarm clock...sorry already have an alarm clock that annoys me when I have to get up already. I hope this game was not delayed because they were making these "collectibles." Believe me I like getting extra stuff with games, but remember when it was done right back in the days with the re-released Lunar games for the PS. I want this game already, damn.

I cant access the amazon.com site because I have a Canadian IP, and surprise - surprise shitty fucking amazon.ca doesn't have it. If I cant get this I will fucking go berserk.

Making toys wont delay the game. They aren't going to have the game designers go over to china, India and help glue pieces of the items together when work needs to be done on the game itself. They are made by a whole Bathesda team probably by marketing. They are probably adding all this stuff so fans will be satisfied with the even when they have to announce that a delay will occur.

the normal collectors edition runs $79.99 atm, the survival edition runs #129.99. Thats $50 for a frickin digital clock. Ill be passing on the Survival edition, and just pick the the collectors edition, seeing as it includes exevrything BUT the clock, and its $50 bucks cheaper!

I only collectors edition I've ever bought was the Halo 3 one and I said never again. I didn't buy the legendary but rather the one that fell out of the shitty tin and got scratched to all hell. I just want the game not a bunch of useless crap.

i'll wait for this one...I won't make the same mistake as halo 3. i got the legendary edition the day it came out. Now, its only 59.99 and there plenty left at the store.

50 extra for a clock that will sell for like 20 on ebay when its released as people will only buy it to say that they owned it....game looks stunning though

Oh what a surprise - another exclusive that wont be coming to the UK.

So why is it that Europe buys more games than the US, but still gets the crap treatment?

At best, the Pip Boy 'clock' should bring the price up to $99. $129 is just gouging the HELL out of people who love the Fallout franchise. Kinda makes me not want the game so much now. $50 for a digital clock that can not be costing them more than $5 per unit... unreal...

I collect every single one of these "collector's editions" yet asking $130 is too much for what they have offered. A digital clock made of cheap plastic shouldn't add so much to the cost. Why couldn't it just be added to the original collector's edition? Wrapped up with the lunchbox would've been nice.

rpgenius420 should shut up and stop complaining.
But yeah, looks like collectibles I could actually use, not like a helmet that serves no purpose other than to point out one's geekiness. Bring on Falout =)

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
