Dawnguard DLC Coming to Skyrim This Summer

Bethesda has just announced The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s first DLC. It’s called Dawnguard and... well, that’s pretty much all we know for sure. 

The add-on was teased with an image posted on Bethesda’s blog. It shows a dude in a horned helm with a quiver of arrows on his back and some mean looking glowing eyes. And that's it, other than the description beneath.

Below the image it simply says, “Coming this summer to Xbox 360. More details at E3.”

So there you have it. Looks like that’s all we’re going to get for a month or so, beyond informed speculation. Still, at least we can now shout at our Kinects to alleviate some of the frustration.

It's a shame I'll be too busy playing Dragon's Dogma (and by the time the DLC comes out, the RE6 demo) but still looking forward to this.

Well you see, nobody wants to be a nightguard anymore.

Lets just hope it a very large new area, with a lot of new, unique armors that aren't incredibly easy to get. And weapons that are actually worth finding.

@8 That would kind of suck, unless you go to an enitrely new area where the falmer live. Not sure I would want to defend Dawnstar ( or whats left of Dawnstar in my game) from falmer as a DLC.

Only bad thing is how long it took to come out with this DLC. the problem is that if there are going to be 3 DLC(reasonable) then at this rate we will still be buying things for this game 2 years after the game came out. that NOT ok.

As excited as I am for this, I was expecting a little more info. A teaser trailer? Even some sort of cryptic description like, "As Night descends upon the world, only The Dawnguard (cue epic music) stand against it."

Right now i regret buying Skyrim on PS3. How we at least will get it eventually, unlike Oblivion, where you had to have GOTY-edition to get one DLC, the other wasn't available on PS3 at all...

Well, at leats io know i am gonna buy Oblivion on 360 (Yeah, haven't played it yet >_>)


Anyways, this actually looks damn interesting!

No matter what this DLC is about I hope to god one of the DLC for Skyrim sees the return of the Deadra. I know you closed all gates to Oblivion in Oblivion but I really missed summoning all the crazy different Deadra in Skyrim like you could in Morrowind or Oblivion.

As excited as everyone is for this all the hype for a title and a picture (which lets be honest people its just the original picture without a sword and a quiver on his back with different coloured eyes) is really a crash and burn feeling. . . who knows though hopefully the DLC consist more then just crossbows vampires and falmer OH MY! I'd hate to finish its main questline (which is a given) as quickly as I did Skyrim's.

geeze that's all they're telling us? i swear someone found out the dawnguard name thing like a month ago. we know you have other projects (not that you haven't pushed them in our faces much) but you'd think you'd put more hype into a scheduled dlc news release then an image that looks like stock art of the dragonborn.

wasn't there something in the newest patch for the game about vampires??? he looks kinda vampire like to me...and dawn being a bad time for vamps...perhaps the DLC sees a whole lot more vamp related gameplay???...no matter what it is, i'll be enjoying it anyway :)

i'd sooner wait for decent well thought out DLC than settle for rushed, over in 30 mins nonsense than some games get. Skyrim is an epic game, i played it pretty much non stop from Boxing Day to the end of Feb, and i've not touched it since then, but i'm not gonna get rid, especially now they've announced DLC....which we knew was coming anyway.

OT very excited for this, now that i've done Mass Effect i'm feeling all lost.......

@60 No. Rip-off is Call of duty map packs for 15 bucks for 3 maps. Rip-off is the same call of duty game coming out every year. Rip-off is capcom putting all their dlc on the disc. Day one dlc is a ripoff. Those are rip-offs. Skyrim expansion? That's how DLC is done right and how it should be done.

Wonder if people already complaining remember that Bethesda was one of the 1st to do DLC "right" on X360 (with this series too).

...that trial & error also brought us Horse Armor, but the distilled effort Skyrim is about to get will probably be awesome.

Can wait for this. I hope it'll be like Shivering Isles, huge with over 20-30 hours of gameplay. Still if it is, I hope it'll have moe than 250G, that always seemed to little for Shivering Isles, especially when you consider it was like 3 normal DLCs long.

He's my speculation, judging by the glowing red eyes, I'm guessing there's gonna be new demons added whos souls you can which are then used to unlock 'Demon shouts'... Just guessing, but that would be cool. Also I really want them to add Dragon mounts, well, pretty much everything from the developers week.

@23 You got issues dude...Like another poster said, DLC every 6 months reegniting a hot game even more so is an amazing business model.. and the fact thats is "substancial dlc" and not small horse armor, or housing, it just makes it even more impressive...
