Things have been looking rather bleak for THQ recently, following rumours that the publisher had reportedly cancelled its entire 2014 schedule, which the publisher vehemently denied. But now things seem to be looking up, as THQ has posted preliminary results for its fourth quarter, with expected non-GAAP net sales in the region of $160 million to $170 million.

It's hoped that Q4 will "exceed expectations" for THQ, thanks to strong figures from Saints Row: The Third, which has shipped four million copies to date, while sales of UFC Undisputed 3 have been "slightly higher than expected", THQ says.

“THQ expects to report cash and cash equivalents of approximately $76 million at March 31, 2012, three times higher than the previous expectation for its year-end cash balance, due to better-than-expected operating results in the fourth quarter, as well as earlier-than-anticipated cash receipts,” THQ reported.

“Additionally, the company ended the quarter with no outstanding borrowings on its $50 million credit facility, and did not borrow against the facility during the quarter. The company expects to utilise a substantial portion of its cash and cash equivalents as well as its credit facility as it launches its slate for the 2013 fiscal year, beginning with Darksiders II.”

Darksiders II will be THQ's next big title, due to releaseon June 26th in North America and June 29th in Europe. THQ's financial call meanwhile, is set for May 15th.

  • I am so glad this wasn't DLC news. Sold it already
  • Saints Row 3 is great THQ deserves these sales nowadays hopefully they wont shut down
  • Shit game..
  • Not being funny, but isn't this the same THQ that announced it was shelving a load of staff?
  • Am I the only person who doesn't read news about games I dont like? Anyway this game was really fun! Glad it did well!
  • @5 - I don't either, its just children who have nothing better to do who do :P
  • "Remeber in 6 months THQ will be dead"
  • Saints Row is one of the best games out there! It is super fun! I have fullscored it long ago, but I play alot anyways! Not many games do that for me. :)
  • Saints Row was one the more enjoyable games i played last year, I'm glad things are starting to turn around for THQ. Maybe we'll get more info on Metro : last light soon, the first one was under rated IMO. I doubt that they will be dead in 6 months though.
  • Well saints row 3 was good, but incredibly over hyped, which helped it excel dispite its shockingly low amount of content. Q4? thats winter is it not? what games are they releasing in winter apart from wwe 13' which I can only hope will actually work unlike wwe 12.
  • I'm going to be blunt here, I'm a cheap bastard do you think they'll make a GOTY edition or should I just order it now?
  • Confirms that the addition of an online pass for the freakin co-op was nothing but a money grubbing scheme. How can game devs continue their line of preowned games costing them when games like this sell those kind of numbers?
  • This game sucked Saints Row 2 is the best in the series.
  • @13 I strongly agree with you there, I'm kinda bored of saints row 3.
  • BEATS GTA ALL THE TIME ANYTIME
  • Hopefully the next game won't skimp on content.
  • @15 Not even close. I'm not saying it's a bad game, but it's miles from being as good as ANY GTA game. SR2, I might agree that it was better than IV, but still SA had it beat.
  • forget all of the bullshit "this is better than that" arguments you douchers get into.allthough they are both open world type games they are still completly different and should not be compared.plus the only thing that really matters here is that THQ stay alive long enough to ship METRO:LAST LIGHT.
  • it hope that darksiders 2 does well.its not for me but ive read/heard lots of praise for the first.
  • Saints Row the Third deserves all the praise it gets. Glad to see THQ is looking up, they actually make some games I enjoy. Also glad to see Volition is doing well after the last Red Faction game tanked even though I enjoyed it.
  • I really wished this game didn't sell so well. Saint Row 2 was way better then this. The Third had a bad story that had so many rewrites that the final version of the game didn't make sense because a character would say to do one thing and then you would have to do something else that doesn't match up. Plus their season pass and DLC(disc locked content) were total scams on the consumers.
  • "THQ" will becomes "Take Two" in 6 months?
  • @ 15 IMO your on crack
  • Game was great to begin with but I'm not gonna hide the truth when I say It didn't live up to SR2 expectations. It was to easy to complete because of things like invincibility, unlimited ammo etc. There wasnt any challenge to the game and the DLC didn't help with it's lack of play time and 560 msp per pop, hopefully SR4 will be replayable but I give credit were credit is due as THQ did make a brilliant game, just not as good as their previous.
  • Instead of coming in here and talking about how bad this game was or wasn't, can we all at least agree on one thing: The story wasn't as good as the 2nd, period. I still love the series and have big hope for its future (I'm looking at you Saints Row 4!) :P
  • I strongly believe this game did not live up to the series... It seems so bland and boring, especially after your beat it within a few hours. & the fact that each DLC was no longer than 1 hour long made it worse... It's still a very good game, it just wasn't as potent as it could be... Sorry THQ...
  • OK THQ, just tell us that Saints Row 4 will have 3's gameplay mechanics in a game at least as big as 2. Also, no more Snatch & Escort. Bring back Fuzz and Septic Avenger! And make the character creator & clothing options more varied and interesting ( but make sure you keep female voice..2, i think. The latina-sounding one. That's the one I use in 2 & 3 and would like to continue using it in 4)
  • Ships 4 million, but how many sold? The game was a huge let down and this is said by someone who is a huge fan of the Saints Row games. I have my gamerpics, themes and add-ons, including the season pass for SR: The Third. The last game killed everything Saints Row stood for. That said, I think THQ is lying through their teeth. Rumours of their problems broke out, they stopped the development/publishing of games and now Darksiders II is delayed? Not a coincidence whatsoever. /sarcasm
  • Good for them....Proudly say I was part in those copies
  • Thought THQ was in trouble when I picked this SR3, Space Marine and Dawn of War Retribution up in a bargin bin for the PC for 9 bucks each last month.
  • Didn't mind SR3 & am glad it sold well so the series can hopefully continue, But SR2 was Waaaaaay better IMO.
  • Saints Row: The Third was a good game. Good to know they did well (Y)
