So what would this game have been? I can see kinect being used like it was with Mass Effect 3 but that's about it.
It's probably a good thing that a game wasn't created around the kinect otherwise we'd probably have Marcus and Cole dancing with a Brumak ala Star Wars connect. |

| It got cancelled because it was a terrible idea. Kinect wasn't made for anything hardcore, so I doubt we will be seeing any hardcore games for it. Of course kinect can make a cool addiction to a game, but a kinect only hardcore game will most likely never happen. |

| I love Gears; imo, best original series on the Xbox 360. I do hope this is the last we see of Gears for a good while. What an epic trilogy! I'd prefer it didn't go the route of Halo, CoD, etc, and retain its integrity as a story and series without all the spin-offs and sequels. That being said...I'd very likely buy a Gears game nonetheless. Heck, despite not liking the demo, I almost bought Lost Planet 2 just for Marcus and Dom. I've been wondering what Exile is--or was. Now that it's shelved, it would be nice to get a full scoop on what exactly we won't be playing. Lastly, I don't have Kinect--can't afford it and don't have the space--but guys, Ryse look really good, makes me want a Kinect. |

@15, you're assuming that I want or like seeing them fail. I like my Kinect. I never felt like Kinect threatened regular gaming. I take no joy in this. If Epic can't get it done, though, what hope is there for the other titles. Ryse and Fable Journey are the only two remaining titles worth any attention. They're just real long shots.
I use my Kinect all the time. Not for hardcore gaming, though. Only for parties, excercise, and voice controls. That's enough for me... but not the revolution Microsoft was thinking. |

| Honestly, I'm glad. I want to see spin-offs and more titles, but I really doubt Kinect is the place. It's a fine and fun tool, but it should probably just stick to what it's good at: minigames and kid's stuff. There's room for movement and exploration, sure (Gunstringer's a great case for more serious games with the machine), but I don't think the M-rated gore and tension of Gears is really right for flailing in front of your tv like a moron. |

| Cant say I'm sad lol, I still got fingers crossed for People can Fly doing a FPS gears down the road, chainsawing someone from that view would bloody & fun. Plus they did a damn fine job on Bulletstorm really fun game. |

| Kinect is a great tech, but they need to see how limited it is for games. The voice commands are great on ME3 and work well in the dashboard. I just don't see how motion tech can be used effectively in a FPS or action game. They need to stick to dancing games or simple motion games for kids and refine the voice system a bit more. |

Eh... I like Kinect and all, but integrating it to gears like that... I don't know... Though I enjoyed playing ME3 with kinect, was an interesting experience to say the least.
I think they need to implement Kinect into RPG games, at the moment a lot of Console RPG's are limited due to lack of accessability buttons, but Kinect could change that through the use of voice commands... ex. Spell set 1, set 2, armor set 1/2...
And to everyone bashing Kinect, do you actually own a kinect? Or are you just upset you can't afford a Kinect?

Kinect was superb for Mass Effect 3, and it will be superb for Ghost Recon with the Weapon Smithing.
I don't understand why so many people think its cool to hate on Kinect? Fair enough it wouldn't have sat right with Gears, it failed with Star Wars. We don't know if it'll fail with the Journey, whoever here played Rise of Nightmares would probably agree it has great potential. If you don't like Kinect, stop hanging on its name and bitching about it just 'cos you can. |

| I don't think this would have been that bad. My experience with games like Child of Eden, Rise of Nightmares, and the Kinect portion of Forza 4 has shown me Kinect has real potential. Adding Kinect Support sounds okay, but I kind of agree with the shelving - an entire game based around Kinect might not be best. |

| If the developer felt like a Kinect Gears title needed to be canned, they probably made the right move. Kinect Star Wars should've followed suit; when they realized that the idea just really wasn't working out, they should've just let it go instead of using a huge license like Star Wars be the backbone of another game on the long list of mediocre Kinect games. I've owned Kinect for over a year now.
It is my opinion that Kinect sucks as a game controller.
It's nice to say Xbox-play,stop,next,etc, but actually using it to play a game with?
it sucks big time!
And yes they need to make a gears prequel. like Reach from Halo ;)

| I believe the Kinect is a much better alternative to anything such as the wii and allows great party games, but hardcore game interaction is weak atm.. But it's still fun, I enjoyed the voice commands in Halo CEA personally.. Added another dimension to the game, without going overboard.. |

| Why? Why would Epic even consider making Gears of War for Kinect? I mean really. Doesn't make sense at all. It's like saying that it's alright for teddy bears to carry around Lancers. The Kinect is supposed to be for the entire family, it is aimed towards the younger audience, not towards us Hardcore Gamers. After all, it was more likely we were going to be unsatisfied with the final product. Kind of like the weapon skins. I was a bit disappointed with the fact that you have to purchase weapon skins for in-game play through MS points. I'm not saying it's bad or anything, but the first set of weapon skins should've been a freebie. |

I dont see why xbox even went towards the motion controls direction ... if i wanted to dance around the room like i was having a fit i wouldve bought the Wii, if i wanted to be an arrogent idiot who has too much money for thier own good and wants every piece of technology in one i wouldve bought a ps3.
but it seems no games developers can resist the urge to bring out 1937297 sequals for a decent game and make it worse and worse by squeezing every penny out of it :/
whats wrong with leaving it as a really awesome trilogy? (which i think they only just got away with). |
