Microsoft Announce Minecraft XBLA, Trials Evolution & Fable Heroes Release Dates
Written Thursday, March 22, 2012 By Lee Bradley
View author's profile

Microsoft has announced release dates and prices for a whole heap of highly anticipated XBLA titles, as part of its Arcade NEXT promotion.

Running from April 18th through until May 9th, the latest season of Microsoft Game Studio published titles includes Trials Evolution, Bloodforge, Fable Heroes and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.

It also marks the arrival of the new policy allowing download titles to carry up to 400 Gamerscore and 30 Achievements. You may have heard about that somewhere.

Below you’ll find dates, prices and details for all of the Arcade NEXT titles, courtesy of Major Nelson. I think I want them all.

TRIALS EVOLUTION, April 18 for 1200 Microsoft Points
“Trials Evolution” is on every front, the next dimension of the smash-hit, award-winning “Trials HD.” Bust out of the warehouse into an outdoor world of night and day, curved driving lines, and spectacular scenery. Multiplayer comes alive in your living room or on Xbox LIVE. Build your own tracks with the in-game editor or download those of any other player from the new Track Central. Customize your bike and rider with awesome gear and unique parts, enjoy innovative skill games, try ghost racing, beat your friends’ scores and more! Don’t miss the madness!

BLOODFORGE,  April 25 for 1200 Microsoft Points
With a brutal combat system, stunning art style, and a deeply compelling story, “Bloodforge” empowers you to slaughter hordes of demonic soldiers, deformed worshippers, and the gods themselves, using ferocious Rage Kills, devastating Rune attacks, and furious Weapon Combos. Help seal Crom’s fate – and the fate of the rest of the world – in this dark, visceral story of revenge, betrayal, and destiny.

FABLE HEROES, May 2 for 800 Microsoft Points
“Fable Heroes” is an action-packed, hack-and-slash adventure built for Xbox LIVE Arcade. It delivers a fresh spin on the “Fable” franchise with a unique art style and gameplay that takes playful competition to the next level. Whether on the couch or using Xbox LIVE, up to four players work together to defeat enemies while also competing with one another to collect gold coins and level up. Precious gold collected in Fable Heroes can be imported into the forthcoming Kinect title, Fable: The Journey, providing players with a valuable head start from day one.

MINECRAFT: XBOX 360 EDITION, May 9 for 1600 Microsoft Points
The infinite possibilities in “Minecraft” just got bigger. “Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition” brings the global phenomenon to console gamers for the first time. The Xbox LIVE Arcade version of the game features an innovative new crafting interface, natural controller movements, a full Tutorial mode to teach the basics and for the first time in “Minecraft,” split-screen multiplayer as well as over Xbox LIVE.

What's wrong with that, #6? You're getting your money's worth here.

Minecraft on PC is £16.95 whereas 1600 points is about £13.71. So that's pretty good.

People complaining about Minecraft being so expensive befuddle me. How can you when that game will give you countless hours of gameplay past it's achievements are reached? Isn't that part of the allure? Trial is just a tad cheaper and not many people are complaining about it's price?!

I personally am going to purchase Trials and Minecraft. I thought the day would never come to see these games launched.

The reason MineCraft is more expensive is because it will be subject to regular, free updates like the PC version, so the initial one off price is increased to help maintain this service.

I think they could have made Minecraft a retail game n it would still be a huge seller. But the reason people don't like the 1600 MS points is cause now they'll start charging that every now n then for games that should be 1200.
At least it's no doubt worth it.
Trials is gonna be out this world also.

#22 Not really, the start of the 1600MSP games sorta began with both Sam & Max games, then Penny Arcade Eps. 1 and 2 before they had a price drop, and Watchmen Pt.1 is still 1600MSP where as W.M. Pt.2 is still 1200, which is kinda weird though.

1600 for Minecraft? Yea, they can keep it. Just wait for all the 800msp DLC that will drop every month. I'd consider it for say, 600, but no more.

Trials... shit yea. I'd pay 2400 for that. Hell, I'd pay $60 retail for it. :D

I don't understand people getting worked up about 1600 Microsoft points...It costs less than the PC version AND you're getting guaranteed updates that will continue to make the game THAT much better. If you don't think 1600 MSP is worth it, you're being stingy.

@23 It's 4 play split-screen, and up to 8 players can play in a Live game.

Trials Evolution is the only one that's a day 1 buy for me, and will probably the only game I ever buy without trying the trial version first.

@12 If that were the case wouldn't all the games be 1600 points? It might seem like that to achievement whores/hunters who put more value into achievements than content in the game, but MS doesn't price games based on gamerscore.

LOL 1600 for Minecraft.

I realize it's cheaper than the PC version.. but it should be an XBLA game.

To me XBLA 1200-400 that's it.

Of course I know this game couldnt be anything but XBLA if it were to be realesed on Xbox soo whatever..

Definitely Trials for me. Don't see why I should fork out 1600msp for Minecraft, what a waste and rip off. I got Total Miner:Forge for 240msp. Bargain that was and its almost identical. I'll leave Minecraft and its rip off price alone and stick with what I've got. But we all know Trials is gonna rock!

@67 It won't become the norm. There have been about 5 other 1600pt games and it didn't end up becoming the norm. Since Minecraft will receive frequent updates it's a special case, that's why it's 1600pts.

Also you guys seem to think Minecraft is like a normal arcade game that will just be played in one play through and be over when it will easily give you 50 hours if you like it. 20 bucks is well worth it. I didn't even see this much bitching about the call of duty map packs which was perfectly understandable to get mad about.

Blown away by the complaints that 1600 MSP is too much for an Arcade title. This is why Microsoft wants to move away from the 'Arcade' moniker. Minecraft is a full-featured game and worth more than 1600 MSP, easy.

If you think Total Miner: Forge is exactly like Minecraft and you think Minecraft is a "Waste" and a "rip-off", you clearly don't know what you're talking about. And is 20 really too much for you? Are you that broke?

To everyone complaining about Minecraft and its pricing, allow me to share some statistics from minecraft.net:

24,783,915 registered users, of which 5,336,553 (21.53%) have bought the game.
In the last 24 hours, 65,176 people registered, and 8,037 people bought the game.

After having sold over 4 million copies during development, the complete version of Minecraft (PC) is now available for $26.95.

and then a reminder from this article:

"MINECRAFT: XBOX 360 EDITION, May 9 for 1600 Microsoft Points ($20)"

In conclusion, if you don't like the game, don't buy it, it's your choice, but don't go ripping on it just because you don't like it, because somewhere in the world there are at least 20 Million people who would disagree with you. As for the pricing, for a game that shouldn't even be considered as an arcade game, it's still a lower price than it is if you bought it on PC.

Just to be clear, what I meant by "shouldn't be considered an arcade game" is that I think that it should be a full game.
In case anyone takes that as me insulting it

There are some really cheap SOB's on here that think their hobby is a charity. It kinda reminds me of PS3 fanboys on some kind of delusional trip in regards to their bottom of the barrel PSN. No really it does, haha! :)

Anyhow for those of you that are actually interested in Mindcraft, you know you have 2 choices, and you know what those choices are, quit being drama queens.

Life isn't always fair and neither is the way our corporations operate that so many of us are dependent on for entertainment..

And for everyone whining about the price of Minecraft; What about the ones who bought it in Alpha phase when it was only $15!? We are the true ones getting screwed because now we will have to pay more for the Xbox arcade version than we did for Minecraft PC!! It sucks but guess what? I'm still going to do it because it's a damn fun game & worth it! :)

All these people bitching about Minecraft being 1600msp have obviously never played it.

I bought it for PC when it was 10 euros, but Id buy it again for the 360 even if it was a full retail game

It's stupid to buy Minecraft at 1600 points for 400 Gamerpoints when there are games at the same price with 1000 G (such as Perfect Dark Zero).

@86 LOL, Berri avatar.

@87
Perfect Dark zero is also 6-7 years old. Hence the cheap price.
Also, frankly, that's just a really moronic way of judging what games to buy. Have fun living in 2006 there.
