Street Fighter X Tekken's Dozen On-Disc DLC Fighters Are Going to Cost You

From this April onwards, Capcom is to start rolling out the first batches of DLC for Street Fighter X Tekken, which includes those 12 downloadable fighters found already sitting on the game disc. First on the schedule is the 'Swap Pack' that bundles Tekken costumes for Street Fighter characters and vice-versa.

These include an R. Mika costume for Kuma, Guy duds for Raven, Cammy as King, Xiayou as Alpha Chun-Li, Paul as Rufus and many more. There'll be a Street Fighter Swap Pack and a Tekken Swap Pack, and they'll set you back 1040 Microsoft Points each, or you can buy individual outfits for 80 MSP. Buying one pack will save you $6 on the combined individual prices, so buying both saves you $12.

These will be available on April 3rd, alongside three free colour packs for customising your fighter's costumes, hair and so on. Each pack contains four new palette options. April 3rd also sees new quick combos coming as free downloads too. There'll also be new Gem slots, new Gem packs and more coming as free DLC shortly after this first wave of DLC drops. It'll include a new dial system for quicker assigning of Gems on the character select screen.

And last but not least, those 12 fighters that had been down as PlayStation Vita exclusives and were later dug up on the game disc... They'll be coming later for 1600 Microsoft Points, which for Blanka, Guy, Cody, Sakura, Dudley, Elena, Alisa, Bryan, Christie, Lars, Jack and Lei, could be considered pretty good value. An exact date has not yet been specified for the fighter bundle.

Here's the breakdown of the upcoming SFxTK DLC:

FREE

  • Nine new Gem packs totaling 60+ new Gems
  • Replay analyser
  • Tournament support for Gem selection
  • Three new quick combo pre-sets
  • Three additional Gem loadout slots
  • Three new colour packs with four colours each

PAID

  • Swap Costumes - $1.00 (80 MSP) each or in two $13.00 (1040 MSP) Street Fighter and/or Tekken packs
  • DLC characters - $20.00 (1600 MSP) for all 12 new fighters

  • Way to screw over your fans Capcom.
  • Boooo Greed!!!
  • Good Stuff! I'll most likely be getting them all! Bwahahaha! I'm a sucker for outfits in fighting games.
  • The fact that people found the characters on the disc for this game and not others should hopefully wake up people who complain that other games also have the DLC already on the disc. If it was, someone would have found it and posted like this. And in regards to the pricing and all, this is the worst use of DLC I've ever seen. The 12 characters should be free and I believe everyone who has bought this game should boycott the DLC. Of course most people won't listen, so Capcom will win anyway. But worth a shot lol.
  • The game should be free too. Why should Capcom be making any profit of us? Rich people should be giving every charity!
  • Yeah this is a much better idea than waiting 8 months for the inevitable cheaper complete edition. You're not going to burn me again Capcom!
  • #4 Most people that bought this game probably have no idea about the "DLC" revelation. I totally agree, this should be free. It's on the freaking disc that the buyers paid for. If only there were a way to get the word out to people who don't read game news. Otherwise, Capcom wins in ripping people off.
  • Street Fighter games have always been the same as every other fighting game. Punch, kick, move forward, move backward, press buttons in a certain way to do a special move... Very repetitive..
  • $20 seems a bit much for 12 characters. $26 also seems a bit much for costumes. It seems a lot like MvC3U with the two characters being $5 each.
  • @8 Just like shooters, rpgs, strategy, platformers and every game known to man. They all are repetitive to some extent, its just a matter of picking what you like and playing it. If you think fighters are repetitive, the same could be said for any game you might like and vice versa.
  • And they wonder why their games get downloaded from the internet, really?
  • $20 isn't too bad a deal if you plan to use all 12 characters. However, I'm only interested in 2 of them. Why not sell characters separately or in packs of 2?
  • sorry there's no way to justify $20 for 12 characters. same reason we got upset with bioware. you can't charge people for something that's already on the disc. if these were added later /like squeenix would then maybe we'd be dumb enough to just buy them without complaining that much. fighting game sagas seem to be the most extortionate with their dlc. 80 points to be red. 80 points to be blue. 80 points to slightly adjust the color wheel. id understand if they were new costumes or new characters but they're making you pay for what you should unlock in game.
  • @8 You know absolutely nothing about fighting games.
  • lol @ scrubs. #StayFree and #StaySalty Love, -Kappa
  • @8 LinkTriForce dude; '[video] games have always been the same as every other [video] game. [push button '#'], [push button '#'] , move forward, move backward, press buttons in a certain way to do a special move... Very repetitive..' No probs dude, I fix'd your post for free:) All depends on your gaming affinity:)
  • These twelve characters are free for the ps3 and Vita. It's already on the disc for the 360. Twenty dollars? I could understand if they were added later, but... already there on disc? It's sad that a potentially good idea, DLC, is further ruined by practices like this.
  • 3 words: MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS!!!!!!
  • @9: its actually nothing like mvc3. see $5 per character is way more expensive than 12 for $20. 12 characters at $5 each (which as much as most of you bitch, is the standard price for a dlc character in a fighting game) would be $60. this comes out to $1.67 per character. thats a great deal. @4 & 7: i'm sorry, but why should 12 dlc characters be free? that makes no sense whatsoever. i could understand maybe if it was only one character and you felt that way but did you honestly think that a fighter pack with 12 characters would be free? oh let me guess, you think that because the characters are locked on the disc they should be free? as i understand it they're locked on disc to save hard drive space which is something that you whiners bitched about with arcade edition. the disc locking also allows them to release 12 dlc characters instead of having to make a new version of the game and charge us $40 for it. so perhaps you should be saying thank you to Capcom instead of naively whining and begging others to not purchase the dlc when it comes out.
  • Paying retail pricesfor 75% of games ftl
  • this is SOOO expensive!
  • They really fucked up. Since the DLC is already finished, some DLC data on disc to ensure proper compatibility, fine. Very understandable. But all DATA? Not good, esp in this day and age of hacking and mods. Capcom says no more updated retails discs for this game. Everything will be DLC and patches! Yay says fans! But little did we know, they already sold us the SUPER ULTIMATE Edition of the game on DAY 1. We just have to pay the extra money down the road to access it all. After all the backlash, something should have been FREE to win back the fans. All those costumes should have been FREE. Free 12 DLC characters? Of course I want that. But I knew we wouldn't get that from a business standpoint, they are still a company that cares about money. But $20? Eh, should have been much cheaper to, again, win back fans. For all those saying, I'll wait for the GOTY Edition, it will be cheaper. Uhm, that is the version that is ALREADY OUT. We got all the DLC, except for patches and some minor color swaps/gem slots DLC, which they will not bother to make another GOTY Edition game disc for. You want the game cheaper? Look for a sale. Should hit $40 on Amazon for a few days like every other new retail game. But don't except a perm price drop. I am piss over this? OF COURSE! But I still think its a great game, I'm having tons of fun with it and with all the bitching and moaning, I'll still drop the $20 for the 12 characters, and a few costumes. At the end of the day, its still a business out to take our money. If you wanna extend your experience with the game and have more fun, pay them. If not, you still have a pretty damn fun game.
  • Apparently #8s mom didn't buy him the game so now he is taking it out on us. Too bad he failed at his comment. Side note: I cannot wait for tomorrow for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City.
  • Another company fucking us over, why do they keep doing this to us fans, if they do this to Resident Evil 6 and lock content on the disc they can say goodbye to my money and my loyalty to the Resident Evil franchise. We are all having a hard time living at the moment without having to pay for something that we already have on the disc. All these publishers and devs should be ashamed of there selfs for doing this to there fans.
  • @19 They should be free. It's a freaking fighting game. Doesn't any one remember that you used to unlock all the characters by beating the game on hard mode or with other characters? Also, and I hate to point this out but that still leaves a third of the gaming community with an unfinished product. This era of patches and such have made for lazy development and made playing many games a limited time offer. When this gen of console is over, and MS/Sony decide to take their service offline (such as MS did with LIVE for the original Xbox) there will be no way to access the content that you have already purchased even though you have a right to it. The way MS locks the content to a particular machine means that if that machine were to die after 360's LIVE goes down, then any and all DLC you paid for is going the way of the dodo. And that is what I have a huge problem with. Which is why I wait for a version that has all the content on it.
  • @23's sidenote Its a letdown... :(
  • I'm afraid to say that you're a complete and utter moron if you make this purchase.
  • @25 Of course it should be free, ALL DLC should be free, but times have changed and companies make money. Its the way of gaming now. @8 This coming from a guy who has a bunch of COD games on his gamertag! Talk about repetitive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @27 Money is not an issue for some of us when it comes to gaming, so to each his own and be an adult about life from now on instead of calling ppl names.
  • Come on. It's an item for sale like any other in a shop. If you think it's too expensive or poor value then don't buy it. Simples.
  • How can ppl say capcom is right for charging 1600(?!) Msp for this? They just cut out a piece of the game, didn't even try to hide that and you still support it? Way to ruin gaming even more
  • @28. Not all DLC should be free. This, however, is nothing but companies using the system design to nickel and dime the same people who buy the game. Shivering Isles for points? Sure Online passes...fine. Purposely not allowing people to play 100% of the game they already paid for due to it being on the disc? That isn't downloadable content; that's just greed. If they wanted it to be dlc, then they should have kept it off the disc. At least then, they could justify charging for it if people want it.
  • @8 You sir; are a simpleton.
  • sorry capcom, i wont be paying for what i can already use. your stuff is on the disk, and guess what, if you know how it can be used!! ha ha please note im not playing this game on my live account so no reprting please
  • In that picture, is Jin wearing C.Viper's clothes?.. And don't worry, there will be an Ultimate version. Capcom has told lies many times before (they said there would absolutely be no PC version of Super SF4 and that Arcade Edition SSF4 would never be released on consoles).
  • Are Capcom, EA ,and Activision having a 3 way or something? Nothing but greed going around these day's between the 3.
  • Not being funny, but nobody is asking you to purchase them? If you don't want to pay the £12.00 or whatever then don't buy it? Its not a necessity. and @ #33 - Im going to report you for being a complete tard!!
  • is capcom in competition with ea to see who can screw over their fanbase the most? @12 you are entirely missing the point. this content is entirely on disc (and with some black magic has been unlocked in its entirety by hackers on all consoles). it was made for the game, but stripped away for the purpose of charging everyone extra. this is like if instead of being able to unlock armor king in the original tekken on psx, the game came with king and for an extra $1.99 you could have armor king. dlc really is ruining gaming. i hope that the fans will reject this and show the industry that this isn't acceptable with their wallets. unfortunately, i'm not optimistic of this happening.
  • The dlc is linked to the the ps vita game, and its not free for the ps3 like some people are suggesting. As the ps vita game isnt out yet, we have to wait on the game to come out so that we can get the extra characters that that game is shipping with! SIMPLE AS THAT!! Seriously, games were thrown out for years without any updates , and now theres an OPTIONAL update to get 12 characters for like a £1 a character! Seriously people need to stop bitching, u dont have to buy everything... people who want it will buy it!
  • Wonder when the other 2 characters on disc, mega-man and pac-man are going to be available for us xbox 360 users...
  • So $60 for a disc with 2/3 content unlocked + $48 for the other 1/3 to be unlocked = $108 for the full retail game. No thanks Capcom. Already wasted enough money with SF4 and MvC3 (which is another game you "promised" DLC support for only to turn around and announce Ultimate MvC3 a few months later). And lets not forget all the other lies they have told us. First blaming Microsoft for not giving anybody to use for exclusive characters when you could have easily given 360 players Mega Man and Pac Man. Then when they tor caught having the promised DLC on the disc, they lied and said it was put on there to "decrease the amount of space on your hard drive" and "to ensure complete compatibility". Then they left out the co op mode on the 360 version waited until after release to mention it, again blaming Microsoft because of the "gold account"
  • Hahahaha... wait they're serious? D:
  • @40 from what i've read, Mega Man and Pac Man are on the 360 disc as well as the other 12 characters, which... hopefully means we *eventually* get them.
  • 1600 points? Well the world -- I mean Capcom has gone crazy for good, my friend.
  • @ 40: firstly, you dont even have the game and you are whining about paying money for it. see when you dont even own the game you are complaining about its tough to take your comments seriously. then to top it off you are complaining about the cost and whats on the disc. if you dont own the game you cant bitch about whats on the disc and whats not because you really dont know. the dlc characters are locked on the disc because Capcom didnt want to hav to make ultimate sf x tekken like they did for umvc3. the additional characters were supposed to be dlc but they had problems and made a new version and charged double what they would have. so for this game they decided to lock the content on the disc to save hard drive space and to ensure no dlc problems. but with the way are bitching and complaining because its not free, it seems you would rather pay $40 for a new disc as opposed to paying $20 for dlc. and you get exactly what you pay for. read the box. read the manual. everything listed is included. if it bothers you that much, buy the game, hack your xbox, hack the disc, and sacrifice online play to use the characters now. and its not like capcom didnt announce that there would be dlc. so since you seem to be of the frugal type, perhaps you should wait to purchase the game until the dlc is released. see late next month when these characters are released, you should be able to find the game for around $40. add $20 in for the dlc and now you have your "complete, 100% unlocked" game for regular full price. but i think people like you just enjoy having something to bitch about. as many have stated, if you dont want to buy it then dont. you dont own the game, you really cant complain about it then kid.
  • Capcom, they never learn lol.
  • So they withhold dlc and later release a super/ultimate version of the game and people complain... then they do what was asked and release a version that won't be released in a super/ultimate form, with new content being added via dlc and people still complain... facepalm.
  • I really liked capcom up untill the last few weeks or so. Fair enough that they put locked content on the disc but its the content on the disc that I pay for. I dont even like to pick up new capcom games anymore incase they come out with a gold edition of it. Ive been thinking about picking up raccoon city this weekend but im going to see what the reviews say. Other than that I will deffinatly be picking up the HD collection of devil may cry.
  • (yawn) I'll wait for SF 5 thank you!
  • Even if they gave these characters away for free, 50% of the online teams would still be Ken and Ryu.
  • People really like Street Fighter and Tekken...why??????
  • capcom have been caught at this time and time again, they said they wont release a super/ultra edition for sfxt, yeah right. I'm voting with my wallet on all future capcom releases
  • cant wait till Street Fighter X Tekken arcade edition comes out.
  • Absolutely unacceptable. Don't buy this, and don't buy Capcom games. Or if you must buy a Capcom game, do your damndest to buy it preowned. Don't just not buy the DLC, make sure they don't get any money from you buying the game either. Capcom needs to learn they can't get away with pulling this crap. You know it makes sense.
  • I'm all up for new outfits ect, But can we have an option to take the bloody Gems out? Why do all fighting games these days have to have a shitty gimmick? I remember the good old 90's where 99% percent of the beat-em ups were quality & didn't have shite in them.
  • I hate to sound like an old man, but in my day, extra costumes were unlocked by completing arcade mode. How the heck did we get to paying for extra costumes?
  • I think 1600MSP for 12 characters is a pretty good deal, would have been nice to add a few costumes in there too, but it is what it is. I wonder how all the DLC is going to work with Tekken X Street Fighter or even how many characters will ship on disc
  • 1600 MS points is not much, i´ll get it. stop whining about things you can´t change.
  • 1600 points for 12 characters, well its not as high as it could have been. If this wasn't on disc already, it would be a pretty good deal/ It would be better if you could buy charavters individually, or even just as 2 packs of SF and Tekken characters. But all this confirms, i'll wait for tekken x street fighter and hope Namco don't fuck their fans over as much.
  • @57 "1600 MS points is not much, i´ll get it. stop whining about things you can´t change. " actually, it IS something you can change. buying it tells them that shitty business practices like this are acceptable and encourages them to continue it in the future. every person who buys this is voting with their wallet to continue this, and everyone who forgoes the content is voting for capcom to cut the crap.
  • Wow... I don't own the game (yet), but this even kind of enrages me! I remember times, when DLC was something that was created later on, when the developer was sure the game sold well and wanted to extend the game (and also make some more money). Today it's all about giving the gamers the feeling they get more for their beloved games, although it was there to begin with and just locked on disc. And what's even worse... the content is overpriced. In the end one pays about two games to get one. 60 Euro/Dollar/whatever for the game and the same amount for DLC content that's on the disc? It's one thing, when the game wasn't really complete when it came out (for example FF XII-2) and content was added later on, but another when half of the game is only playable through DLC you have to pay the added amount of a full retail game for (which seems to be the case for Street Fighter X Tekken).
  • @59 wake up dude, everyone who wants this game, is buying the game. It will never change and nobody even knows if this characters would have been developed if they hadn´t planned this from the very beginning. also, resident evil ORC is almost out worldwide which is insane profit for them and you really think they will recognize the few of you. if this are your principals, fine but they won´t care.
  • Also, there are more people who are fine with than not, why should they post?
  • Comparing to Mortal Kombat it does seem better because MK gave 4 fighters for $15, and Capcom is giving us 12 for $20, granted it is Disk Locked Content.
  • Holy crap. I support Day One DLC when it's evident it was created inbetween the game disk going gold and the release date. Fair enough. But, @19, if it's already on the disk, that means it was created during development of the game. It was content that was devised along with the rest of the game, and they decided "hey, let's arbitrarily lock some stuff away to make more cash, hmm... yeah, let's go with this, this and this". $46 worth? Or $50, if you don't buy the bundles. For some costumes and some extra fighters that they had 100% finished before the game was finalised. That's diabolical.
  • Why don't you just save up loads of money for the DLC and quit complaining?
  • @#65: Because charging us to access content that's actually already on the disc (that people have paid for) is double dipping. Plain and simple. You have to be a Capcom PR person to argue otherwise.
  • What a rip off! Considering the 360 version of the game had NO Exclusive fighters and the online play of this game is horrible as sound cuts out here and there, Capcom should have given 360 owners a break and had a price cut on the DLC or made more of it free. They used to be my favourite game company, but since The money I wasted on SUPER/EXTENDED editions on SF4, DR2, MVC 3 and had to pay a lot of money on pointless DLC- I am losing faith with Capcom BIG TIME
  • @66 AMEN!
  • I kinda don't see why people are complaining. If it's too expensive, then buy it when it's on Deal of the Week. They don't HAVE to make anything free or cheaper ..That or wait a few months for Super Street Fighter X Tekken HD Remix arcade edition
  • @67 I know what you mean. Capcom is a shit company now plain and simple. Like that guy said anyone who argues otherwise is either a fanboy or just a complete moron.
  • $20 is cheap compared to mk9 which was 400 ms for only 4 but seeing its on the disc id figure people would get used to that since thats what every game company does these days.
