Kinect Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure

GAME: Microsoft and Activision Latest Suppliers to Drop
Written Thursday, March 15, 2012 By Lee Bradley
View author's profile

More trouble for GAME, as Microsoft and Activision join the long list of publishers not to have their titles stocked by the retailer.

That means that the R2D2-flavoured, limited edition Kinect Star Wars Xbox 360 will not appear on shelves at GAME. Neither will Activision’s Cabela Big Game Hunter 2012 and Zhu Zhu Babies, nor Microsoft's Kinect Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure.

Microsoft and Activision join Nintendo, EA, Sega, Capcom and Tecmo Koei on GAME’s growing list of absentee suppliers.

Yesterday it was revealed that a number of companies are interested in buying GAME, with Comet owner OpCapita at the forefront. Unless a deal can be reached before next weekend, GAME will slip into administration.

How unlikely is it that this will be sorted out before GAME slips into admin??? it's unpossible thats what.

Hopefully whomever buys out GAME will keep the physical stores, not just for the shops to walk around and good banter but also for the jobs.

Wow, I didn't realise Nintendo had stopped supplying. Next up will probably be Sony, then they are finished.

They haven't really helped themselves with their 'sale' as I've been checking it every day, and they actually put the prices of most games UP today...

Still a few good deals in store; picked up 4 games for 7 quid on Saturday, but I don't think that'll help them much lol

Microsoft: "These are not the consoles you're looking for."

Anyway, sucks all this is happening. On the bright side, I may be able to pick up some decent deals if anything further happens; been meaning to get an update on my 360.

This is quite ironic seeing as I was in my local GAME yesterday lunch time and there was a MS rep putting up point of sale material for the Star Wars Kinect game and console...
My local game is actually located inside a Comet store as well.
If MS are refusing credit terms on new release hardware that can only be a very bad sign.
Stocks of MS branded accessories are already low in that store so things can only get worse.
here's hoping a buyout is sorted soon, to save peoples jobs and to ensure we still have a highstreet games retailer. Nothing quite like having a good browse on the shelves of a lunch time... OpCapita would be my preferred buyer I think as maybe then some business sense will be brought in. Two GAME stores located metres away from each other is seriously not good practice...

Another example of how greed fucks you up. I just feel sorry for all those staff who will be out of work because the heads of their company took the piss with their pricing. I never shop at game, they're always a few quid more than everywhere else it's annoying. Fuck em, and best of luck to the unfortunate workers who put their faith in the cheating bastards at the top of the tree!

@19 I used my £25 worth of loyalty points, plus the £5 voucher for cancelling ME3, to just buy 2x 2100 Microsoft points.
Codes were given instantly by digital delivery as well, so I'm sorted for XBLA and DLC for a while.

That's them beyond screwed now. And this happening may well put off potential buyers as renewing contracts etc may be a total pain (I don't know, I'm not a lawyer. I have a soul.)

I spent my £5 Gamestation credit and I might pop in today and buy something... anything... dirt cheap to use all my points on my reward card. I pretty much already picked their carcass clean by buying stuff from their even cheaper than normal stock selling. Got like 15 new ( to me, mix of new and preowned) games for under £100.

Its gonna be a real shame because it'll put such a large amount of people out their jobs.

Unemployment rate is at a ridiculous high at the minute already here in the UK and its ridiculously difficult for people to find a job without the closing down a chain of a stores and adding 10'000 more people to it.

well with millions of shares bought buy a big US finance house it should be ok. Though with comments from publishers like this "Hopefully all of these solutions will also leave the preowned bullshit to eBay and Amazons marketplace where it belongs" looks like they are deliberately making it fail. one question though doesnt Gamestop do exactly this? how about they kill off their own stores rather than the 'rest of the worlds'

what i cant seem to understand in all this, is that if a different company takes over are all these studios also not going to allow the new company to stock their new games? either way long term i feel that developers are shooting themselves in the foot by limiting the consumer as to where they buy their games from thus introducing competition

we really need someone in Gameto get the real truth, i find all the preowned talk lately too suspicious.

It was that previous ceo's fault whats-her-name how did it happen again blockbuster bought gamestation and went on a shop building spree and went heavily into debt. Gamestop were beaten by Ms Game whats-her-name and bought out competitor gamestation at start of recession, it naturally starts going tits up, now G & GS are one didnt really close down the stores that are feet apart so it goes more into recession poo, she bails out with £1.5mil package and the final year or so...well its a shame

Gamestop and GAME are completely separate companies that just happen to have the same business model. Gamestop is closing some of its stores in the US, but is actually doing really well financially.

Microsoft AND Nintendo? 2 of the companies that make the freakin' consoles (and 1 does extra handhelds)? Forget the publishers, 2 console makers could take down game by themselves holding back their product.

Not sure if this continues to be news. The past month or so every day a new title/console is released/releasing and GAME will not be carrying. Without further stories it is safe to assume you will not find any decent new games at the retailer. Next piece of news should be the sale of GAME.

The potential buyers are all hovering, waiting for the company to go into administration, so they can pick it up on the cheap. Any debts will be a lot easier to pay off that way too.

@53, All the companies stopped supplying Game/GameStation because they got all the games/hardware on credit and paid them back after selling the products. But because they are in debt, they cant pay the credit back and therefore the companies dont want to hand them their products knowing that they wont ever get the money back for them! Shame, but Game charge FAR too much for the games anyway. I was in last week and they wanted £35 for a 2nd hand copy of Saints Row 3, its a joke to try and charge that much!

@56 From my mate that works for GAME. Was going to cancel my preorder for the Star Wars 360, due to what happened to my Mass Effect 3 and Street Fight X Tekken, but he let me know about this.

I honestly could careless if you think it's stupid and want to try and act cool by getting on the GAME hate bandwagon, I'm merely passing on information which clearly contradicts this report and question the source of this info.

I myself work at a Gamestation store and have heard no news of this from anyone higher up then me. As far as I am aware it is just the March releases that we will not be getting as we still have boxes on the shelves with information pertaining to the Star Wars 360.
I can understand that customer see some of our prices as ridiculous an sometimes I tend to agree, but it is due to the amount of stock we have if a game is pre-owned or how much the game manufacturer's allow us to sell a game for. For example we have so many old Fifa games it's ridiculous which is why we can sell them from 98p to £1.98, but games like Saints Row 3 and Skyrim I have noticed are difficult to find pre-owned so the prices can be a bit higher. I know me saying this will not help, but we have had many loyal customers who enjoy the experience in our stores worried about Gamestation disappearing from the high street and me and other colleagues who work as hard as we can for the customer are just as scared especially when me and a friend have only been working there for 6 months.

I'm willing to take any insults this post may bring, but I enjoy being a member of staff at Gamestation and would be thoroughly upset if the store disappeared, not only for the sake of my job, but also for those customers who are willing to stick by our stores during a difficult time for us.
