I'm playing the demo right now, so far it's pretty good. Sadly the Borderlands DLC is on sale so this will have to until I get paid.
Side note: I'm still waiting for the screen to say "don't think of the event."

Downloading the trial right now.
I'll wait for a few reviews before spending 1200msp on this... But I'll get it for sure at 800msp in a few months even if it's not the awesomest game ever.

DL it now!! with the size of the game 1.86GB I think I might just let it run and go to sleep lol. Btw screw the trial Xbox needs more games like this so any support I can give I will. Hell id rather pay 1200 for this instead of 1200 for some stupid COD map pack ;)

@ 4 - It's meant to be extremely bland extending the scope of how the world is now.
Book of Eli had a similar but more brighter effect. When the world ends, most color will vanish from the modernized world.
Can't wait to start this bad boy up after work.

I can't believe IGN only gave this game a 4.5! It's great, usually a 4.5 means the game is nearly unplayable, is totally linear, lacks a proper story, and probably suffers from screen tearing or other annoying bugs. This game suffers from none of those things. That's my impression of the demo at least and I can't imagine that my opinion will change much after playing more of it.

just completed the game the game in full and i thought it was a really great game, the guy who reviewed it on IGN needs a kick up the ass, its well worth more than 4.5 the idiot gave the game,
the game is well thought through, some people say it will take around 8 hrs to complete, i completed it on normal in just over 5 hrs and that was with plenty retries being used and that was total playing time,
however i believe it will take a lot longer than that when i play the game in survivor mode, which has no retries.
apart from that its a great game

The guy from IGN is Greg Miller. Never listen to his reviews cause #1, they typically suck and #2, he's a PS3 fanboy.

@10 I feel sorry for you....how many times you must have purchased a shitty game. You do know that if you download a trial (so you can test the game out to see if it is truly worth it) and you enjoy the trial enough to buy it right away, you already have the game downloaded. Thats how arcades work, least how they have worked for me.
@27. I completely agree. Especially the fact that half the demo was you climbing over that damn bridge. If the game didnt involve so much climbing I would definitely be getting it on Dotw. I was excited back in the day for the game, but it just is not my thing. The whole lack of color I didnt like either. And I felt the moves were sluggish. Very interesting aspect though, and different type of game. So I will consider getting it maybe if it does go on Dotw. But I have a bunch of other games to play that I know suit my preferences.

@23 - Me, too! Tho' here in the states that game was called Disaster Report!
But I AM ALIVE certainly does seem to be a spiritual successor to that game, if not a direct sequel or anything.
Although I don't recall SOS/Disaster having much in the way of combat, so it's nice to be doing something other than collecting backpacks and compasses... :D
Also, the game lifted a couple of things right out of Silent Hill, most easily spotted are the foggy streets and the drab colors, but the map system is lifted wholly from SH.
Anyway, the controls can be a bit twitchy on the climbing parts, like the character continuing to shimmy side-to-side when you're clearly pressing down for him to slide down a pole. And having to specifically press the 'A' button to get him to climb on top of flat surfaces is a little unnecessary. But all of this stuff can be managed. The worst part of the climbing is when you run out of stamina and it "burns" your stamina bar making it permanently shorter unless you have a health item to re-extend it - but again, manageable.
Combat can be tricky to begin with, but it's a different system than most games.
Most of the time, you'll only have 1-2 bullets (tho I did manage to have 5 at one point) so you can't shoot everything. And because you can't simply hack at people with the machete, it's imperative in most cases you let an enemy get close to you and quick kill him before drawing on the other enemies (and shoot the guys with guns first, naturally). The worst part seems to be to be getting the enemies to submit, but is usually achievable after shooting the "heavy" in the group (the rest will think you still have more bullets). Also, the mechanic that supposedly allows you to intimidate an enemy into backing up to a ledge or a fire and kicking them over/in doesn't work as well as it probably should.
Stealth's a little hinky, too in that as soon as an enemy faces your direction, they can see you, even if you're crouched behind something in a dark corner across the room.
But don't get me wrong, I am really enjoying the game, most of the stuff I cited was just to be as honest as I could about the gameplay. Also, the fact that it doesn't have zombies in it is a refreshing change of pace enough to make me overlook a few little flaws.
My biggest criticism so far is that I haven't seen anything in this game that would warrant the length of time it took to come out.
