Army of Two: The 40th Day

'Army of Four' Breaks Cover on Twitter

Following rumours originally outed back in December, Army of Two: The 40th Day follow-up, Army of Four has been alluded to once again, this time via the Twitter account of a voice actor who claims to be working on the game. If genuine, then EA might be developing the third game in the series, under the name Army of Four with 4-player co-op.

"Just signed on to do the new AO4 video game for Electronic Arts," reads the tweet from voice actor, Joe Flanigan. "Some splinter from Battlefield. Finally, my kids think I am cool again."

Flanigan later corrected his error, thinking that Army of Two was a Battlefield spin-off, with a follow-up tweet: "showing how distinctively uncool I am, I think I have those games mixed up."

Yes. Yes, you do.

News of a third Army of Two game first materialised back in April last year, followed by rumours in December that Army of Four could be utilising DICE's Frostbite 2.0 engine, which would certainly make a lot of sense. Will Eliot Salem and Tyson Rios be making a comeback with two new buddies in tow then? If what we've heard of Army of Four so far proves to be true, then that could well be the case. However, we'd suggest the usual pinch of salt for now.

I liked the gameplay, the plot of the second was poor.

Will be interesting to see how they continue with the same characters.

If this game doesn't support 5.1 surround like 40th Day didn't (which is unheard of and frankly inexcusable), I will be quite angry.

They also need to ditch competitive multiplayer. I don't care how big a hardcore following it may have had, it was a horrid experience.

Enjoyed both games, competitive multiplayer was a bit disappointing on both of the previous ones though. And as #2 said, the story of the second ones was pretty much non-existent.

Four player co-op sounds like a blast since I love the teamwork mechanics, should be interesting to see how they go about it with four players.

@5 I agree, the MP was just god awful.

They should scrap it and go with a survival mode.

Personally I really digged the first to games, they seem to gather alot of hate, but IMO they are two of the better CO-OP games out there, due to the fact it requires abit of thinking and communication, rather than just charging forward.

Hopefully it plays better than its predecessors. They weren't bad, they were just a bit wonky; not great.

Awesome! Liked the first two a lot. Glad to hear the franchise isn't dead. Hope they do it justice, and keep the splitscreen option.

The first one is incredible, and one of my favorite games. The second totally sucked, hope they go for the same way as the first.

I was just playing the first Ao2 the other day and was wishing for a third game. I didn't really like The 40th Day, or, the demo anyway. The original is a great game though.

@#9 so because Army of Four would have four player co-op means that it copies Gears 3?
