Markus "Notch" Persson, the creator of Minecraft, wants to commission Psychonauts 2.

Earlier this week, Double Fine founder Tim Schafer revealed that he has attempted make a sequel to inventive platformer Psychonauts, but no publisher was interested.

"I mean I get a lot of, on Twitter or whatever, daily questions about Psychonauts 2. And I would love to do Psychonauts 2, I've actually pitched that to publishers several times and no-one has taken the bait so far," he told Digital Spy. "I'd love to do that game, but I'd have to convince someone to just give me a few million dollars, that's all."

Notch is ready to step in. Upon hearing Tim Schafer's woes, the Minecraft creator asked over Twitter, "How many millions exactly?"

He then went on to reach out to Schafer, saying "Let's make Psychonauts 2 happen," adding later, "I'm serious."

Using the millions (and millions and millions) stockpiled from the enormo-success of Minecraft, Notch recently formed a publishing house with his company Mojang, putting him in a powerful position to get games made. This sounds like a good use of resources to us!

Psychonauts hit the original Xbox back in 2005, picking up many plaudits for its unique approach and quirky humour. Schafer and Double Fine went on to make Brutal Legend, Costume Quest, Stacking and more.

Of course, it may never happen. Perhaps talks will stall at the first hurdle. Perhaps they will progress, but it will be a PC ony deal. Or a PlayStation exclusive or something. We don't know. But considering Psychonauts is one of the best games ever ever ever, we hope the sequel becomes a reality on Xbox 360... Or 720?
