Darksiders 2

Fittingly Dark Darksiders II Screens Get Their Claws Out

It looks like Darksiders II is firmly back on the radar following last week's dev diary - which you can view again below - as these nine new screenshots show more from the foreboding Darksiders sequel, starring Death. The masked, vengeful scythe-wielder is out to clear War's name and his agility and skill is just the tip of the iceberg.

Death also has a whole array of pointy things beyond his trademark scythe - that he's also able to split into two and dual-wield - including a hulking great axe and a pair of fearsome-looking, gnarled - but no doubt razor-sharp - hand-held claws.

As well as a look at some of Death's new weapons, there's also a few images of the bony life-taker facing down some massive monsters, more of which can be seen in the gallery where you'll find all nine new screenshots. Darksiders II is out later this year.

The flow and improvements on this game are awesome. Cannot wait to take Death on a stroll in the apocalypse! Michael Wincott (The Crow Villain: Top Dollar) is providing the voice. Gleeee.

Yes please I need 2nd series because first series is awesome and mix with The Legend of Zelda series for puzzle solves and movements with combats while God of War series for combat with combo combats.

Anyway look forward Darksiders II!!!

I loved the first game and I love the concept of the 4 Riders. However, one thing that confuses me is that during the first game War clearly states that "it is not Death you should fear", although I do not remember exactly when he says it, I am more than certain those are his exact words. So why is it that it seems like Death is even more powerful than War?
Other than that I can't wait for this and I most certainly hope sales go well so that they do a third game and possibly even more after that!

@ 9 - He says it to Ulthane after threatening him with the gun just given to him. Ulthane obviously said it in the sense of mortality. Not referencing the entity himself.

It wouldn't make sense since they're playing Death to be way more powerful, versatile and agile than War. War is the tank. The powerhouse. The big guns. Death is described as a much more fluid warrior.

Neither of them are "more powerful" than the other but each certainly has their specialty. You cannot have War without Death but you can certainly have Death without War.

It's only a reference to the entity when War refers to it as a Brother.

I have made a mistake (like many) and overlooked this game at release only to get it months later and $$$ cheaper. I will not make the same mistake twice=)

@ 11 - It got a half and half good/bad rep from it's major comparison of "God of War meets Legend of Zelda"...which is honestly NOT a bad combination IMO.

Either way, the original teaser trailer is what roped me in. It was by far the most detailed looking trailer I'd seen at the time and for a THQ game, it was an unheard of title. I remember reading about it back when Assassin's Creed was still slated to be a PS3 exclusive. They covered that, Prototype and Darksiders.

Even better, Darksiders came with this web promotion that was a huge mystery for about 3 months. When the area of the site finally revealed itself, it was an offer for a free Red Faction: Guerrilla disc or download. It took 2 weeks shipping but it was a free game nonetheless.

I loved it and the second one looks as though it's done the Assassin's Creed/Arkham City direction in that it will completely mouth rape it's predecessor.

0:47, Death drinks Guiness?

On topic: I really enjoyed Darksiders. I rented it from LoveFilm and enjoyed it so much I picked it up on Steam. This is looking like a top notch follow up.

Forgot this was even coming!

Darksiders was a random-ish impulse buy for me, turned out to be a fantastic game with a compelling storyline. I really enjoyed it. Will probably get this game on release (unless reviews are awful then I'll probably try it before I buy it.)

I love that some of the shots are showcasing the armor upgrades for Death. Spiked mace-looking armor looks so right.
