Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Dreadnought DLC Coming Next Week

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is set to get another batch of multiplayer DLC next week with the Dreadnought Pack, which adds three new maps and a brand new mode to delve into, as well as new achievements to earn.

The new multiplayer mode is called Dreadnought Assault, and sees two teams fighting for control of a tactical point on the map. Whichever team is successful in securing the location gets to spawn a dreadnought, which for the uninitiated, is a bulky bipedal tank armed to the teeth with Meltaguns, Assault Cannons and whatnot.

Desolation, Chem Refinery and Dome Mechanicus are the three maps that come with the Dreadnought pack, and THQ has also confirmed that there'll be more free DLC coming with a Capture and Control Mode for multiplayer too. Pricing for the Dreadnought Pack has yet to be confirmed, but it'll be coming to the Xbox Live Marketplace on January 25th.

Honestly, I didn't like this game. Was fun for a while, but seemed a bit repetitive. Hopefully the DLC isn't the same way.

I enjoy playing this game online but got rather bored with just two different types of games to play, I'm glad they are bringing more stuff for it :)

@5 - the scary thing is I actually read the whole thing. That's what happens with a combination of 4 in the morning mixed with pain meds. Thanks.

Love this game. I've been holding on to 800 points in anticipation for this. Hope it isn't more than that!

Really surprised the amount of effort they are putting into DLC for this game. It's nice to see a *smaller* title receive so much support.

Is this game worth getting? The demo WAS FUN, but does the rest of it hold up? Might wanna get it some time then.

Game's rather bland. Also a real shame that yet again, it's nothing but multiplayer that gets focussed on.

More MP DLC? Dreadnaughts are cool, but not cool enough for me to want to play any more of this game. Its MP was okay, but once I hit level 49 (or w/e the max was) I had no more desire to play the game.

This game was fun, but i thought it would have died by now with all the AAA titles coming out this fall. I'm really impressed with THQ for still supporting it.

I kind of regret buying the first DLC. I probably won't be getting this.

I have the feeling that most of the content was cut from the game pre-release. Putting so much effort into a title that really didn't do that well seems unlikely these days.

Looks good but I bought it for the PC and the community is DEAD. Is the 360 community kicking?

Hopefully those new achievements will balance out the max score for this game. That 235 weirds me out whenever I see it. I know other games have weird gamerscores, too, but this one ambushed me with DLC I never expected.

Still, I wish they would put out some off-line DLC. A single player Exterminatus might be fun.

On PC we have way better Dawn of War series, it really is no surprise that THQ is supporting their main selling franchise (now extended to consoles in more action oriented way). I have this on PC too, but did not get a chance to play it. Still trying to finish secone DoW expansion - Retribution=)

@23
NOW extended to consoles?
Are you implying 40k video game adaptions haven't been on consoles before? And it's pretty bold to say Dawn of War is better then Space Marine, after you mention DoW2, which lacked in comparison to the original. I'm a fan of Dawn of War, but felt they gave way to way too much rush tactics when they started patching after Burning Crusade. Space Marine is a fantastic game, especially for (as far as I know) Relic's first bout in the third person action genre. Trust me, give it a shot, you won't regret it.

@#24 I don't recall any other 40K on this generation of consoles, so I might have missed it tbh. If there was another it must have been pretty bad, because I would have definitely heard about it....

I have tried Space Marine demo and thought it was pretty good. I mean they designed it so that it would play great on consoles, but you have to admit it lacks depth of DoW series. I am not saying it's bad, just that is not as good, though it's not fair comparison=P

I'm in the other camp. I loved how they did DoW2 and though it had less stuff to begin with than original game it still felt finished in my eyes... Addition of last stand and 2 expansions was awesome move too. Now just have to wait for DoW3=)

As far as I know the only previous 40k game on consoles was Firewarrior for Ps2 which was pretty average.

I have to say I'm kinda in both camps in regards to the DoW franchise, I loved both games including the expansions though I prefer #2 as a co-operative experience and #1 for a standard skirmish, either way though I'd take it over Space Marine. This game just didn't live up to my hopes and expectations though I must admit I really liked the versus mp, which is very rare for me.

Oh and ColonelKyon I think you mean Dark Crusade, Burning Crusade was WoW...
