| @1: It's a shame that everyone is going to flame you, because you're absolutely right. The Sawed-Off brings much needed balance to the game, otherwise it'd just be a boring as shit Gnashers only affair like Gears 1 and 2 were. And rather than actually try using rifles and learn new ways to play, old players just whine about how the Sawed-Off should be taken out. I say fuck those players, they can go back to Gears 1 or 2 if that's what they want. |

So, does this mean there are two events this weekend that count towards War Supporter?
The Brothers to the End will no doubt count (for the 4th time), and according to the article (and the link), the Horde event will count too...
"There's an event ribbon for playing ths playlist too, and obviously added XP for the canny Horde gambler, as long as you can survive, so you'll want to grab your best GoW3 comrades for this one."
Anyone have any clarification? As usual, Epic is kind of cryptic about their events. Have these events started yet, and if so, can someone verify? |

Not sure if that was the ribbon name exactly but i'm sure it had the words Horde and Marathon in it. So, i'm guessing there's only one event ribbon up for grabs. But don't sue me if i'm wrong! |

| As far as complaining about any weapon in any game goes, quit it. You have to adapt to survive, not cry until they hide your shame. And yes I have been on the very aggravated end of the sawed off, and prefer the gnasher. They still need to get close to you to kill you, so kill them before they get that close aka "adapt" |

Sawed off and retro were brought to game specifically for players who could not adapt to preivous games and feel more at home playing CoD. It has evened out a field between noobs (now being able to kill with one push of finger) and vets who still own them 90% of the time.
In any case most comments are a good laugh and now I see why so very few ppl play gears these days,guess gear1 got it right as lobbies never seemed to be empty even without matchmaking...
I will defo jump on and get some practice before new maps drop, though am not a big fun of 2vs2 - not enough kills IMO=P |

| As much as I hate the sawed off, I want to get my Onyx medal for the damned thing so I can just stick to my gnasher. The Sawed off is SOOOOO inconsistent it only seems to work when it wants to. I'm finding it harder and harder to get kills with it because it just flat out doesn't work half the time, unless the enemy is standing completely still and unaware of me. Might just get all my kills for that POS in private matches. |

@31: The Sawed-Off wouldn't be a guaranteed "walk right up to someone and shoot" kill if people would put away their Gnashers and try out their rifles once in a while.
Also, 8 feet, really? That was an exaggeration even when the game launched, but since then, the range on the Sawed-Off has been reduced. If you let someone walk right up to you and blast you, you deserve to die. Either you saw them coming and thought it would be a good idea to try to counter with the Gnasher (spoilers: it's not), or you didn't see them coming at all in which case you'd be dead no matter what gun they had (they could chainsaw you, Gnasher you, grenade-tag you, anything is good if you get the drop on an unaware opponent). |

I'm sure they exist, because there are always campers in these kinds of games, but I'm also sure people are exaggerating to the max about how many are out there. Furthermore, when you do find one, it's not the Sawed Off's fault that they do that. They'd do it with the Gnasher or Lancer if there was no Sawed Off. That's what campers do. They pick the weapon that it's easiest to get a quick kill and they wait. If they didn't have the Sawed Off, they'd just use some other gun. |

@1: The people that complain about the Sawed Off shotgun tend to be the idiot players. I hate the weapon too, but not for the same reasons most people do. When a sawed-off player misses or doesn't kill me, I call it "blowing their load" and frequently yell at my teammates to put him/her down as they're trying to reload it. Sometimes even when I die, I yell at my teammates to do this. If you have a competant team, the Sawed-Off Shotgun is good for a single kill before you die. I know this from experience. However, most players in Gears of War 3 are NOT competant. You'll also notice idiots who think that running Gnasher all game is a good idea, even when they're being murdered by Hammerbursts or Retro Lancers. That falls into the OTHER reason I hate the Sawed-Off. Teammates who decide to fight against it, with the Sawed-off or with the Gnasher. No, stupid, wrong.
If I had competant teammates EVERY GAME, the Sawed-Off honestly wouldn't be as popular as it is. It would largely remain a circumstacial(sp?) weapon. The shotguns in Gears of War have been relegated to the niche they SHOULD'VE had. Close. Quarters. Combat. They shouldn't be relied upon in EVERY fight. They shouldn't be the gun you automatically switch to when you spawn. They should be used when the fight gets up close and personal. And honestly, I'm glad it does that 50% of the time in this game instead of 98% of the time like the previous two titles.
Against a shotgunner, range is your friend. Range and smoke grenades. |

The problem is not the people who use the weapons cheaply, but the weapons themselves. People will always exploit anything that can give them an advantage. Instead of wasting your time flaming each other, spam Epic so they balance everything.
I personally dislike rifles more than the sawed off. I think they are overpowered. But it is for certain that both rifles and the sawed off need balancing in order to fit into the Gears universe. Epic delayed the game for 6 months, they could have at least tested the weapons better.

If you think about it, the sawed off is the reason behind the rifling as well. Because the sawed off is currently overpowered, few people are using Gnasher. Since they also refuse to use the weapon they hate so much, they learn to rifle instead. If Epic wants to balance this game properly, they need to power rifles down SLIGHTLY, then revamp the sawed off entirely.
If it were me, I would the sawed off a weapon that must be picked up off of the map. That would mean that there would be, at the most, one or two sawed offs on any map at any given time.
Good idea no? |

| feels like most deaths are from hammerburst, well it can be manipulated with by ppl with modded auto fire controllers, talk to lot of folks that use it, its like a 2-3 second take down, sawed offs can be flushed out with smoke and whatever weapon usually, gnasher wall bouncers just require a keeping distance and trained fire on them, mostly tired of hammerburst, so easily modded |

Awwwwwwww! Couldn't they do the XP event next weekend so that people who are already at level 100 could actually benefit from it?

| @97 Yeah, this thing is live right now. It's not in its own playlist, it's just in regular horde. You get the ribbon when your team fails for the first time or completes waves 1-50... whichever comes first. |

| I got a ribbon after playing a round of Brothers to the End with my friend and right after that we tried horde up until wave 10 to see if anything happened after we got our XP and nothing did. I'm guessing you only get one ribbon for the event. |

If you have a turbo controller you can hold a on it and keep restarting the wave.
You get a 5% increase on your money every time you die and the wave restarts.
Using this method i got about 7 billion dollars in one match. That's like a shitload of
Onyx big money medals. |

| me and a friend played on hardcore for 7 hours getting cash , ribbons , leveling up fortifications and killing things. Stayed on wave 48 for a few hours with the big enemies and lots of them. Went from level 63 to 75 not sure how much experience exactly because someone skipped that part! Nice result though |
