Well considering the Intel you could find in the Black Ops campaign, and that little 'hacking' mini-game, this was pretty inevitable.
Mason, that dude with one eye and Hudson (Is that his name?) had a kill order put on them after the events of the game, in case you weren't particularly bothered about the intel.
I'll definitely get this one. I'm not big on the IW CoDs, but I've always felt Treyarch do a better job of supporting the game after release than IW, ala patches, DLC content (MP Maps PLUS zombie maps) etc. |

| I would love just a Zombies game, I have great fun playing with my mates and having competitions between ourselves to see who doesnt go down the most or who can get the most points. But if Black ops 2 has zombies i guess ill be happy about that. |

| Oh yeah baby! Hate all you want, Black Ops was my fave CoD by a long way, wont be getting it day one but good to know that i will get another dose of sweet sweet zombie action, eventually. Got to get bored of Horde mode on GoW3 first though, which will taker a long time. |

| pretty sure the next one is supposed to be called Iron eagle, which sounds MUCH cooler. Hopefully it won't be black ops 2 and they are just preparing for possible future releases as IE sounds MUCH better, plus a squeal to BO would be dumb. Great game, easily the best story in the series, but not much room for a sequel. |

| it wouldnt be the same if a Call of Duty game didnt come out EVERY SINGLE YEAR. wow. this game hasnt changed since Call of Duty 2 when the 360 FIRST came out. if anything, they made it worse. because they focus more on the horrible multiplayer then anything else. this is a fail like all the other 6 call of duty games. i agree with #8 on here, they need to just kill of the call of duty franchise, even though that will never happen cause of all the little kiddies who freak out when they see a number next to the same game they played two years ago, so that must mean Black ops too is going to be nothing like all the other ones. haha. yeah right. it will be 100% the same game. but it will stay around forever, cause it is pretty much the biggest selling game that microsoft has to offer. which is sad. |

At the end of the day, Activision is a company out to make money, and Call of Duty makes them a bucket load each year. Why shoot the cow when its still producing milk people will buy? | Okay, I have to say this because its one hundred percent true. I'm not out to hate or out anyone but seriously? MW3 was just released 2 months ago and now already there's word of the next one. I never have been a fan of CoD, only really played it because it game me the chance to play with my friends, thats it. MW3 didn't really suck me in because of two reasons only; BF3 and Skyrim. And even this new one thats coming out, there's Borderlands 2, Fall of Cybertron, and Halo 4. I would rather lose 500 million times on either of the latter two games then go out and buy yet another game that's just going to be thrown to the way side a year later. Only thing I liked about Black Ops was combat training, at least the bots werent pathetic enough to use the more pathetic "strategies" that online users would. Honestly, if CT does make a return if this game is real, I MIGHT buy it, huge emphasis on might. |

Yeah... because Halo doesn't release a game every year, does it. I don't give a crap if the multiplayer component this year was only an expansion to Reach... I loved it at the start, but I've done that game! I've now got to the point where it's a chore to level up. |

37: Aside from 2008 (when a lot of H3 DLC was released anyway, not to mention Wars was released in Feb 2009) Halo has been a yearly release since Halo 3.

| I was not a fan of Black Ops. The campaign was fun, but online was kind of boring. And I like Zombies, but I really, really, really wish they would not tie achievements into it. I still don't have the full 1500 in WaW just because that earn 75000 points in one game, and there is a shit ton of achievements in Black Ops that I really don't want to do. Ive played zombies a little, and its fun to just see how far you can go, but when there is specific things you have to do, especially when the levels are pretty difficult even after level 10 if you have something else you are trying to do, it just pisses me off. |

@32- I agree that there are many good games coming out. Borderlands 2 is the game I'm looking forward to the most this year. But, you need to calm down. They didn't announce anything. Somebody just noticed (out of the interest people have in CoD) that the domain name was taken. Who cares what your opinion or my opinion on CoD is. There are millions that are probably excited about this announcement.

How about upon completion of the campaign, they allow you to replay it, only this time it's full of zombies instead. Like the guys you killed the first time through have risen from the grave ready to go again... I wonder how many more titles CoD will go on for, everyone knows there'll be another CoD this year, there always is. I wont buy it unless they actualy change things, make something fresh about it instead of the same thing yet again.
Im not a hater, I just hate what CoD has become. Other titles, build things, create universes, (yes, I'm thinking of Halo here). Other titles work to create unique experiences, fresh ideas, all that CoD does is recycle the same thing now, which is rather sad to see.
Treyarch do at least improve things some, and listen to their comunity a bit, the zombie mode boom, the inclusion of theatre mode, even if its a useless machinima engine, was a big step forwards... then a step back with MW3 by IW... I personly refuse to buy MW3, returned BO because I generaly found it the same as other titles, I wont buy this next title, or the one after, unless improvements are actualy made to inovate the system, even then, I still dont know if ill buy it. |

battlefield destroys CoD and they (CoD)are now the official Guitar Heroes of FPS (ironically made buy the same people). i own all CoDs cept for MW3 (which i will not buy) and i will NOT be buying this one either. what they should do is revamp the WaW series or possibly fix the hacked lobbies @#89 your completely right!!!! even better yet, stop making Call of Duty all together. why would i wanna buy ANOTHER game where people do nothing but use cheap tactics, camping, hacking and noob tubes all the time? im sticking with BF and when BF 4 comes out, ima get that, when BF puts Activision and Treyarch and IW outta business....i will send them a bouquet and a thank you card!!!

Okay guys seriously. Im actually quite interessted if there is gonna be a BO2. I only bought mw3 for the campaign. I actually liked BO multiplayer much more than mw3`s and the singleplayer in BO wasnt bad. And nobody likes a graphic whore. Games comes in many varities. A game does not need to be perfect to be a good game. I think treyarch has found their path to sucess and maybe it will be as good (or bad for the haters out there) as the modern warfare series. mw3`s campaign was good,multiplayer... meh it was okay. So i think (my personal opinion)BO multiplayer was way more entertaining. black ops won my vote after this round of treyarch vs infinty + co.

| I honestly thought Black Ops was the best CoD, and usually this would be viewed as a good thing. This isn't a usual thing. The franchise has gone on for far too long, and its come far too late. They need to draw the line and leave it, at least for a good few years. |

If they want to make something unique, why not have a WaW style CoD with the following storylines:
1. American Revolution- 1775-1783 (Maybe a campaign with the French, and/or German mercenaries as enemies)
2. American Civil War- 1861-1865
3. Korean War- 1950-1953
4. Proper Vietnam War- 1955-1975
5. Persian Gulf War- 1990-1991
6. Mexican-American War- 1846-1848
7. Border War- 1910-1919 |

@ #118, well, look at Rambo IV, before I watched it, I never knew there was a Civil War in Burma. And that's the important thing, people will never know unless it gets brought into the light. Something that doesn't get a lot of press will get people's attention if it is something people haven't seen before. World at War and MoH: Airborne got my interest in WWII, and the MW series got my interest into 21st century warfare. Western games were the underdogs of the shooter industry and CoJ and Red Dead spiked people's interest. And the American Revolution...well that happened nearly 229 years ago, I am 100% certain no one is going to try to make a controversy out of it. Besides people idiotically beg for a game that doesn't have AK-47s, an MP5 variant, or a Beretta 92xx in it (When those three firearms are some of the most popular in the world). Muskets, flintlock pistols, etc answers their cries. Hey, we can (maybe) stop people with rapid fire controllers, since they would need to reload after every shot. That is one less group of people to worry about. And no noobtubes, no helicopters, no nukes, no quick-scoping since guns really didn't have scopes back then.
About the Vietnam War, look at Shellshock 1. That was a Vietnam War video game, and it did fairly good. And there are a few games that are set during the First Gulf War (mostly plane simulators).
But hey, me I'm for one bringing obscure historical events into the spotlight, and Assassin's Creed is doing a good job at it (I still wish they whole Animus thing was left out, and it just focused on history and not that whole New Age mumbo jumbo.)
But yes, if done right, obscure history can become popular. |

@123 I agree that making a game about obscure historical events would be very interesting for many (including myself) and Personally I would be more inclined to buy it if it were, however a large portion of the market would be devistated by the fact that the weapons are not all high tech and would sinply brand it as a crap game. Financially it would make less sense and lets face it that is all that they care about.

Jesus Christ. At the Halo and Gears of War series change from time to time. It is in no doubt the Halo 2 was a completely different game from Halo: Combat Evolved. And Halo 3 (An Xbox classic) is different from Halo 2. Halo: ODST wasn't very much different from Halo 3, but it still offered a new feel to the series. Halo Wars was a completely different game, hence it not being an FPS. Halo: Reach is utterly different from all of the Halos. The same can be said for Gears of War. Not only do all Gears of War game have different functions, mechanics, and character 'feel' to them, but aside from character design, they never truly "copy and paste" any of their work. Graphic and game-play wise.
Meanwhile, you have COD over here. COD 2 was somewhat noticeably different from COD1 and maybe other previous installments. COD3 was definitely an 'up' to the series; COD4 being the pinnacle of originality. After COD4, the series has distinctly been the same. Same movement, same perks, 'copy and paste' skins ans graphics, etc...
Overall, what I'm trying to say is that COD is stale. Aside from the different guns, it's really just the same. Yes. Everyone has their own opinion is games. And believe it or not; I like COD! That still doesn't justify it's lack of effort. And just like the flock of sheep this game has attracted, you may find me probably purchasing the next one in the hopes of something new. Although I have never had more than 2 COD's in my household, for I sell one before buying the other -- unlike Halo and Gears. |

| I think its reasonable to expect something new from Treyarch, given they have been the more innovative of the 2 developers of the COD franchise. Whatever they do with it, be it Black Ops 2 like this article might suggest, or a new/different angle, Treyarch will surely be looking to try something new, as it has semi-recently with zombies. I'm neither against nor for COD's as a rule, but I think Infinity Ward has given us 3 very similar games lately, whilst Treyarch has at least tried to spice it up a bit, which they should be applauded for. |

A couple added things here and there, maybe if they would actually incorporate new ideas, maybe destructible environment besides windows, maybe some vehicles like Call of Duty 3. I am quite tired of playing the same game each year, yes campaigns are good on all of them but multi-player just stays the same besides new maps and new guns.
