Super Meat Boy Frys Past the 1 Million Sales Mark

XBLA platformer Super Meat Boy has sold over one million copies, according to the game's developers. Speaking via the studio's Twitter feed, Team Meat said, "Fun Fact: Super Meat Boy past the million sales mark last month! "PLATINUM BABY."

The ultra-punishing game hit XBL towards the end of 2010 as part of Microsoft's GameFeast Xbox Live Arcade promotion. Since then it has been ported to PC and Mac. The one million sales mark is spread across all three platforms.

Team Meat, who are currently hard at work on their next project, are also part of a new documentary. Called Indie Game: The Movie, it follows the trials and tribulations of a number of indie devs, also including Braid's Jonathan Blow and Fez's Phil Fish, as they struggle to bring their games into the world.

The trailer below is not new, but it is awesome. Any excuse, basically. Check it out.

There is nothing more rewarding than finally finishing a level in this game and then watching the one hundred or so deaths you've gone through all at once. It's hilarious. Love this game and need to play it more often.

Good. But where are my Internets levels you promised for two Christmases and we still haven't got?

Also, of course more of the sales are probably from Steam. Unlike on XBL, the Steam version has been on sale several times and for lower than $5 and $10.

And they aren't even counting how many people probably bought the Humble Indie Bundle #4 to get it which is several more million.

I never really liked this game, but glad that it's doing so well. I feel to old to be getting angry over a game and everyone told me that this one was pretty difficuly. I've had my fill with Trials LOL

I got this for 400 in a sale a wee while ago and tbh its worth the 800 easily. Great game, so craftily put together.

I don't think I'll ever 100% it as the last couple of planets are rock hard to finish never mind get an A+ on every level

Meat boy is an experience that I will always cherish as a gamer. I busted a virtual nut and shed a virtual tear when I got the achievement for completing the game 100%. It was just so much fun, even when I was stuck for hours at a time. I thought all the fun was over, but then I remembered that there are a bunch of user-made levels! Hooray! Props to the Devs. I can't wait to see what they come up with next.
