PES 2008 Budget Out May 16th

PES 2008 Budget Out May 16th
Written Thursday, May 08, 2008 by Dan Webb

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that its best-selling PES 2008 title will be reissued as a budget release for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 on May 16th.

Originally released in October 2007, PES 2008 has won worldwide acclaim for its utter realism and closeness to real football. Now newcomers to the series will be able to experience all the feints, through balls and blistering runs the game has to offer, with the 360 reissue retailing for £24.99 and the PlayStation 2 version for £19.99.

The heart of PES 2008 is a proprietary adaptive AI system entitled Teamvision. Unique to the Konami game, Teamvision is a sophisticated AI programming that can adapt to the individual’s playing style. Through repeated play, it will learn new ways to build attacks and to counter specific movements and previous attacking or defensive errors, ensuring games are more in line with the tactical but flowing nature of the real thing.

As an extension of the Teamvision system, every aspect of PES 2008’s on-field play has been reworked and fine-tuned to create the balanced and strategic play of a high stakes match. Set-pieces have been improved, with full control given over the number of players and the position of the defensive wall. A wider range of set piece options are also available to make use of specific talents within the team.

Coupled with a wealth of licensed teams, instantly recognisable players who move identically to their real-life counterparts, and a stunning array of training, online and competition modes, PES 2008 is still the top of its league, and will be the bargain signing of the summer.

PES 2008 will be reissued for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2on May 16th.

Excellent news, couldn't justify getting it at it's full price, but will definitely get it at the budget price!

PES is the best game ever, full stop.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is clearly born of a monkey and a goat and lives in a hole in the ground with a family of dung beetles.

FlimFlam you are an idiot!!! Not everyone likes it, well anyone with xbox live will hate it, i have 20 mb/s broadband and was playing my mate less than one mile away and the lag was unbearable, we never played it again and he brought FiFa 08 and we never looked back.

Fifa is overall a better game imo.

FIFA is better than Pro Evo, but Euro 2008 is the top dog. Strange that theres a price cut so soon after release, FIFA must be selling better!

Even with 20mb/s you still got a crap connection sometimes Ruthless ;P

unofrtuantly Proevo suffers the same as PES 6 and to some extent PES 5 there are fatal flaws in the game which make it irritating to play. Hopefully they will sratch build 2009.

Dont get me wrong i am a massive PES fan and always have been. But crippling lag on xbox live in inexcusable (with as other have a 20mb connection)

gameplay-wise comparing PES 2008 to FIFA 2008:

With better gameplay, less flaws, being fully licenced and little lag online FIFA 2008 is the king of football games at the moment. im really hoping PES 2009 will change that though.

FIFA 08 pipped it for me this year after playing a FIFA demo and PES 09 at a mates.

After this news though, I think I may go out and pick it up.

No matter how good or fast your internet broadband speed connection is, you will always lag if the servers you are playing on are not created by the game makers, fifa lags less then pes is because they have their own server, while pes relies on the actual user's connections with other people but even if you had a good connection it's not perfect. Konami doesn't have the money to server hundreds of servers like EA do, and they also don't focus on sports games like EA do.

Oh and the fact that Konami dont know the rules of Football. Since when has an offside been classed as a foul?...never. Plus some of the Achievements are pretty shitty, like the 35m goal, but it cant touch the keeper, the posts or the crossbar, does it matter?...no it doesnt, its still 35m wether it hit a goat on its way in. The free kick online has the same thing, maybe they should of had a couple of English people make this game then maybe the rules would be correct.

Whats wrong with the rules, technically an offside is a foul as the other team do get a freekick, plus who gives a shit what it is classes as anyway?? The online is bad but still the game is much better than fifa, play it with your mates and you will see, PES is the best!

Fair comment on the lag. Me and a mate play Pro Evo every Monday, in the same room. Old School! For that, it's the best footie game. FIFA just isn't as slick and the shooting doesn't work. I love the way you can technically score from anywhere in PES. It's the best digital depiction of real football there is, but I am in total agreement with Jetpac, they definitely need to build from the ground up on the next one, because as much as I love the game, Konami have rested on their laurels too long. Fingers crossed, otherwise 2008 could be FIFA's year.
