Just Cause: Scorpio Rising Movie is In The Works, Just Cause 3 Also Reportedly On the Cards

Just Cause: Scorpio Rising is the name of the movie of the game currently in the pipeline, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, featuring the origins of how Rico Rodriguez came to be the zipline-flinging liberator of the people that he is in the Just Cause series. Hence the 'Rising' bit in the title.

Bryan Edward Hill (Broken Trinity: Pandora's Box, 7 Days From Hell) is supposedly rewriting the script, which had been originally scribbled by Michael Ross. However, the movie's producers Adrian Askarieh and Eric Eisner still have to take the movie to financiers or studios before shooting on the project can even begin, so it'll be a long way off yet.

The same report also claims that Just Cause 3 could be in development too, despite developer Avalanche Studios saying that it won't be releasing a game in 2012. Perhaps it'll be coming in 2013 alongside the so-called 'Project Mamba' then? And maybe it could be a next-generation title? Who flippin' knows? All we know is that we want Steven Seagal in the lead movie role... maybe.

You know, there's always these stories about games being signed for movie deals, yet none of them have even released any real details about production.

But since game movies always suck, I'm okay with this.

Just Cause 3 though, sign me up.

Halo, Gears of War, Bioshock. When will we actually see any of these movies?

They only suck because the games that have been made into Movies never had a great story anyway in my opinion. Games like Halo & Mass effect would make great Movies if done properly. Just Cause, not so much...

Steven Seagal in the leading role? Yes, please!
He really is THE perfect man for a role like this. I adore him and his ingenious fighting sequences. THAT's hollywood at its best.

I hope they NEVER make a Bioshock movie. Bioshock 2's existence pissed me off enough.

I Think an assassins creed movie would be good, the games story is so detailed it would be like inception mixed with the matrix with swords lol. just don't let the Chinese make it or everyone will be flying..

I saw Steven Seagal do a country and western style gig in tonbridge wells...oh how the mighty have fallen. He would be perfect for the role...or any role...him or Chuck Norris

I could totally see Steven Seagal in this, but as a villain, or Rico after a truckload of tropical themed drinks

comic book movies used to blow. Now there are mostly pretty awesome. (The Avengers) Game movies could do with a similar reboot.

@ #3 Len lfc even though your a pool fan, spot on comment totally agree. Both games have such a wide universe to explore story wise, no reason they couldn't be turned into films as popular as star wars or aliens most crime/action/war/horror games just don't have that. Just Cause just sounds a bad idea before it even begins.

Who needs a movie based on a game anyway? No movie will be able to let other experience and immerse the world and story the way playing games does=)

Given the state of Just Cause's "story" and the atrocious direlogue, I really, really wouldn't make a film of it.

I'm all for Steven Seagal if they have him as a badass like he was in Under Siege. HOWEVER, if they have him as a reality TV cop, I think it would be one of the biggest busts I've seen in a while.

Definitely gonna keep my eye on this one (or two?). Love the Just Cause series and would love to see more done with it. As for Seagal plying Rico I'm not so sure, surely the original Desperado Antonio Banderas would be much better suited?

Just Cause 3 sounds pretty cool, but any game that is turned into a movie is going to suck. The only exception is Resident Evil Degeneration, and that's because it was all CG animation. Link to trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjuN0xUJssg

C'mon they tried to cash in on the game Battleship, with a movie that was "inspired" by the game. They'll do whatever (i.e., rape any franchise) they can to make a buck.
