not surprised really for an RTS, a mouse is most useful, and to make the experience challenging, they need to setup the game so it's tough with a mouse & keyboard shortcuts try doing those things with only a pad, no shortcuts available etc, it requires a rebalance of the game, or it will be too difficult, frustrating now if on the next generation of consoles they give us the option of plugging in our PC peripherals, it would be fine also, you never know just how big they want the battles to be, sometimes they are small, but they go OTT with visual effects, other times, they go OTT with the enemy force, and from my experience as a PC gamer - RTS's are always one fo the first to find the breaking/stuttering point of a system now, if only they would bring back westwood, i might give it a try, not been a fan of the newer C&C's |

I've bought every C&C on the 360 and would buy any in the future on release, but no, they're all PC only because of utterly useless trollish fuckers like yourself and your uninformed, unintelligent and mentally retarded opinions! That's my two cents on the matter. |

@18 : Tell me about it. You know, I'd at least like the option of playing it on a console, but people are SO dickish about this that we need to wipe these fuckers out if we're ever going to get a consensus going to bring them back to consoles. Seriously, this is my single biggest annoyance with people in gaming today. RTS games DO WORK ON CONSOLES JUST FINE, but if you're used to using a PC, you should probably stick to it. If you're willing to adapt to to using a controller though, they are excellent games and I'd love to see the option to play them. |

| So glad to hear this bit of news - Command & Conquer and all RTS for that matter should only ever be experienced on a PC. The controller setup offered by consoles simply cannot deliver the controls of a mouse and keyboard. I was a massive fan of the first Generals' expansion pack Zero Hour where I played easily 1000+ hours as it was the only game I played for several years. I'm going to have to start saving for a new PC for Gens 2 :D |

While I'm sure that this will be a well-made game, I think it was kind of a dick move for BioWare to try and generate so much buzz by announcing a new game, then pulling the rug out with a sequel to an established franchised. This just doesn't look or feel like a BioWare game. |

I'm perfectly coo' with it staying on PC's. To echo what a lot of others are saying... they just kinda belong there. Ive got C&C3, Kanes Wrath and RA3 all on my gamercard for 360, all game-finished so Im not saying it was impossible to play on the console, but RTS is one of the few genres demanding of a Mouse and PC. Not to mention this'll probably take some hefty hardware that the 360 just doesnt have. |
|

Forum Posts: 146 | Comment #41 by Ephidel Sunday, December 11, 2011 @ 01:56:05 PM | |
@32 : Exactly, but the CommandStick interface was first created for C&C3 : Kane's Wrath (probably my favourite C&C). The system works brilliantly and still provides fluidity and control over the battle. Is it as easy as playing on PC? Yes and no. Yes, because the control system is well-tailored to consoles, it was only C&C3 Tiberium Wars that caused the current (No RTS on consoles) movement and that game was easy if you familiarised yourself with effective battle tactics. Kane's Wrath revolutionised the console RTS, and yet the idiots still fail to pay attention to the changes made. This brings me back to why it isn't as easy as it is on PC. The control system doesn't lend itself well to viewing the battlefield and making appropriate buildings/units at base at the same time. At least, it's not as good as a Keyboard and Mouse, but it is still good enough and if anything, the main reason that people who've been C&C PC players feel the control system is inadequate is because it does force you to adapt to the, admittedly minor, shortcomings of the console by comparison. But all this aside, we should have the option, the choice to play on 360. These games are always well-implemented as RA3 and KW displayed, and not everyone has a gaming quality PC. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that the majority of Xbox 360 owners do not have a gaming quality PC, so by making it "PC only", you're restricting the potential market and you're not even giving it a chance on consoles. I'm not kidding myself, all RTS games need some good PR on consoles and if this was released on them, I wouldn't expect more than 1 million copies sold over the first year from release. That said, this genre is most certainly wanted and viable on the consoles, so the work has to start somewhere. As for the dissenters, if they didn't harp on like a broken record saying "RTS games don't work on consoles!" maybe more people would actually try the FREE Demos on the Marketplace to see if they like it. RTS games need some lovin' on the consoles, and until people realise that these PC assholes will resist everything non-PC and that these people are the same people who believed that large free-roaming Bethesda RPGs also do not belong on consoles (and see how that worked out), then we'll finally be able to break this genre open and see it flourish and get the praise it deserves on consoles. |

hahaha I knew it will be!! Also RTS is more easy to PC which is why Bioware stick to PC only. I don't care because RTS is not my kind of genre for games and I don't like PC games anyway. Love xbox and other hand that I feel bit sorry to xbox fans that cannot have this game on their console but if some of them have PC so not worry then can get this game. Anyway game look interest but I don't like RTS :) My friend look for ward to it so I gonna hand this info to my friend about this upcoming game. He love RTS games :) |

RTS games in general do not sell well on consoles due to the fact that alot of the older ones were simply ported over from PC and the Devs did not take the time to adjust the controll scheme to better suit a console controller. The first game to do it properly was Halo wars, but that was developed from the ground up for 360. RTS games will never sell well on console, due to peoples predetermined opinions due to how they have been produced in the past. |

@41 I've done both. Played through the games on both PC and Console. I've got nothing against console players (since thats primarily me anyways) getting access to RTS'es. KW had a beautiful control scheme for two sticks and RA3 nailed it even better. But you're going a bit far here with what you're saying. The controls of a keyboard and mouse are unparalelled with a RTS. Thats just it. No ifs ands or buts. Rather than say 'hey, play these games, and stop being jerks PC guys!' why not ask Microsoft why they dont allow USB Mice to be plugged in like the PS3 does? And then ask EA why they dont create a control scheme supporting it? My memory is a little fuzzy, but way way back when my buddy had Red Alert for his PS1... Im pretty sure that if you owned the playstation mouse, that would work with it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_Mouse Yep, sure did work. So the guys in charge of console development have actually taken a step backwards in game design. Question that. Plus we're starting to get to the point where the xbox hardware is a little dated. And an RTS has a lot of crap going on at once in it. Im not saying you're wrong in wanting more of the genre on the console, its just theres more than a few parties to blame here in why they tend to avoid it. |

You didnt miss anything with Tiberium Twilight if you missed. The gameplay was terrible, teh story was sub par. It's like everyone from the dev team went on a 12 month break and left interns to build the game. As far as i'm concerned, I'm still waiting for C&C 4. |

@44 : Well dude, I agree though I don't see how I went too far. The opposition to RTS games on consoles is like a tidal wave of sewage, so I find it difficult to ignore people's ignorance. But yes, you're right. Keyboard and mouse functionality is possible and in fact, highly probable with the next Xbox. I also have stated for years that the most important upgrades needed for the next Xbox are not the GPU, but the overall processors and RAM. Bethesda RPGs are proof enough that developers need to focus on having games that 1 : Do not freeze/crash & 2 : Maintain a smooth framerate. For the same reasons, we need the relevant hardware upgrades with respect to RTS games. That said, I'm glad I'm not alone in my wish to see RTS games repopulate the consoles. I downloaded C&C:RA3 Commander's Challenge on release on the 360 as well, and if that had a free play and online mode as well, just like RA3 Uprising, it'd be the best RTS game on the 360 imo. But seeing as it doesn't, KW keeps the crown in my eyes, plus Joe Kucan is epic awesomeness. |

@58 No worries dude, I wasnt trying to take a shot with the going too far comment. It was just mostly with you saying there was only minor adjustments going from a PC RTS to a console RTS with the controller. Thats a huge adjustment for the serious RTS player. Heck, I remember when I first switched over... it was hard getting used to not being able to quickly flick my mouse all over the screen or up to the minimap for quick navigation. Or being able to use things like ctrl+1,2,3 for groupmapping. I got used to it, but thats because I'm one of those guys PC elitists consider a filthy console lover. And I got a pretty sweet computer too that I dump decent money into. Eh. Personal tastes. So I kinda forced myself to adjust, and wound up enjoying the C&C games on the 360 for what they were. But if you *werent* me, or you, like it sounds, I could also see the barrier of not having that keyboard and mouse option available being a barrier too large for the PC enthusiast. Agreed on KW for the EXACT SAME REASON. Haha. Joe Kucan has mesmerized me ever since he shot Seth in the side of the head during my childhood. I love the cheesy corniness of the RA universe but the Nod/GDI/Tiberium story is something special to me. Even if they botched C&C4 so horribly. See, theres a benefit of no more Command and Conquer games coming to the 360 after Kanes Wrath/RA3. Console-only gamers will never have to know the craptacular mess of gameplay and plot that was C&C4. |

@61 : What happened? I self-censored myself from all C&C4 info after the awesome ending to Kane's Wrath where Nod recaptured the Tacitus. I thought the Marked of Kane Cyborg Army was was insanely good and I hoped to see GDI take a beating. Now I'm worried they've screwed the canon. =( As for PC Elitists, some people claim they don't exist, but we've both seen them. I, too, am a console gamer since 1988, so these guys don't phase me. What's more, I think it's about time they paid the same money as everyone else for games. We (the console users) have paid through our purchases for companies like Valve to keep on making games, and yet one look at The Orange Box, and more specifically Team Fortress 2, would suggest that they don't actually give a shit about us. Left4Dead patches are also few and far between. Lots of PC Elitists have been bitching about Bethesda abandoning them with Skyrim because of the "shitty UI", but firstly, that's being incredibly pedantic and pathetic and secondly, who can blame them? PC gamers are the whiniest bunch of adult-sized manchildren on par with the Wii. They complain about everything, they shun "outsiders" and change, they think themselves superior and they pay less for their games. Isn't it about time the industry cleaned up the PC scene and started balancing things out? @59 : Render Caesar's things unto Caesar, and God's things unto God. Dude, you're not impressing anyone. You'd be surprised how many gamers are scholars of all manner of things, but here's one for you. Tu stultus es. |

You guys are dum your moning about the controller when you can use a xbox controller on the pc and you can buy a mouse and keyboard for the xbox so your complaints are pointless. The game should be brung out on multiple computers and consoles to give people more of a variety, plus if you dont have a computer but prefer to use computer then you can. So suck on that and get your facts right. |

| the reason this game will not be coming to the 360 and ps3 is because the other c&c games on the 360/ps3 did not make the money and not many people bought the game so they have there reasons for not bringing to the consoles,i still wish they would bring it out for the 360 tho. |
