Final Fantasy XI 2008 Edition coming this month

Final Fantasy XI 2008 Edition coming this month
Written Thursday, May 01, 2008 by Neil Christie

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XI 2008 Edition will launch PAL territories on May 23rd. This new release is a collection featuring the original title and all four of its expansion packs.

There are said to be plenty of new combat features, areas to explore, jobs and monsters in each pack, meaning that new players should have a huge array of content to explore. The four packs - Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urghan and Wings of the Goddess have been made available to existing players already, making this new retail pack beneficial for only new players to the online-only game.

I just thought I'd offer a gold world pass to any new players. What that does is give new players some free stuff they couldn't otherwise get. Send me a message over Live before you create your first character. (You can't get it after you've created a character, even if you delete it)

it'd be worth playing if it wasnt for the stupidly over difficult stuff mid game that stops u from enjoying it till u get high lvl help getting past it, plus alot of servers are empty of low lvl players

The reason why they're empty of low-level players is that there are no damned copies of the game left. That leaves only new players on PC (since PS2 is defunct).
Also if anyone needs a world pass to Quetzalcoatl, let me know through a PM. It's a good server and still has a steady amount of new players coming in.

Final Fantasy XI was my favourite MMO, it almost took over my life u.u.

But don't buy it if your starting new or you are new as the game will be dead within a year or so there barely 300,000players left total (it may seem like a big number but it really isn't on MMORPG), compared to Guild Wars which is 2million I believe.

Do you still have to install it to your harddrive or whatever?

They charge for online play because they need to operate their own servers and add content to the game constantly.

300,000 is still a pretty fair amount of people as most servers consistently have 2700-3200 players on.

Playing this game isn't easy and it does consume countless hours of your life if you get into it.

Yeah, it's really fun to spend 3+ hours of installing a less-than-stellar game. Very fun!

Reply to Kotaro-Fuma

The game has been going strong world wide fox 6 years now (6th anniversary is this month) and SquareEnix constantly is updating it with new events and other fun things to do every month. They're doing their best to make it available to more people, especially with this new package.
And honestly, I'm having more fun with it now than I did 6 years ago when I first signed up. Granted you have to pay for it, but the experience is much more gratifying than WoW and other MMOs.

And I love the comments "hate this game," "less than stellar," and "it sucked." This is a thread for people who might be interested in the game. Don't you think they might want to read something positive about it? Do you have anything else better to do, seriously?

If anyone wants some actual information about the game just PM me. I'm willing to take the time to answer any questions about it.

Sakura if people are allowed to say they enjoyed the game then people are certainly allowed to say they didn't. Personally I really enjoyed the time I spent on FFXI but if some people didn't then they're more than welcome to state that. Quit being stupid.

Best thing to do is play on the PC, then when you hit level 75, fire up the 360, goto the guy and unlock the achievement.

"The Curse One" that was the most incoherent sentence I've ever had the misfortune of reading. I guess you could compare it to WoW because it's an MMORPG but WoW is fucking noob shit compared to FFXI. If you go from WoW to FFXI prepare to get your life shit upon.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
