So they have two studios now, correct? It's safe to assume the original studio has been working on a new game since spring 2010 when Just Cause 2 was completed. I'd like to assume one of these two studios is working on Just Cause 3 while the other is working on an original IP or reviving something for Square Enix. This studio is owned by Square Enix, correct?

Cancel my last comment. "Independent" would imply they are not owned by any company. ;)

Gosh, that's a long way away. Kind of excited for an original title, but thoroughly enjoyed Just Cause 2 so a sequel would be just as welcome. Time will tell.

@4 Seriously you want Avalanche of all of the Square Enix subsidiaries to remake a game which is referred to as one of the best RPGs of all time? A studio with zero RPG experience?

Too bad it's so far away. 2014 means they've barely started.

@1 They are independant. They are privately owned. Just Cause 1 and 2 were published by Eidos, while Renegade Ops was published by Sega.

@7, so does Square Enix own the rights to the Just Cause franchise or does Avalanche own it?

@5 - Note he said SE, not Avalanche. That said, I'm a little fed up of remakes. Granted I've helped encourage them by buying some, but I'd much rather see new games than old ones.

@8 It's hard to say, but I'd assume that Avalanche owns the rights and would still let Eidos/SquareEnix publish it. I'd rather refer to the publisher as Eidos, since they published the first before SE bought them, and Eidos is allowed to be semi autonomous. Hell Eidos is probably the most profitable division in SE lol

They will see what FarCry 3 has to offer and advance on that, to be honost JC2 was big but a whole lot of nothing in the end and the dlc was lame.

Considering it's so far off, we can only imagine that that amount of time being poured into this project will lead to a huge payoff for the fans.

If the name represents what we may see; this game could very well take place in Africa. I'd rather the jungles again, though. Hopefully, this is definitely a Just Cause game. No offense, Avalanche, but unless you're making a Just Cause game, I have no interest. |

yup i noticed the dislikes and the comment but obviously nobody read that i said square enix, i dont mind remakes really if done correctly, but FF7 with advent children style graphics would be pretty fookin sexual, tho im thinking its gonna be a next gen release now with things iv read, hell id settle for a HD update in the fashion they have remade final fantasy's on the iphone etc

I remember reading an article in Edge magazine a few years back and they had a preview of a fantasy style open world RPG by these guys using the Just Cause Engine.. I wonder if it's still in the works and after seeing Skyrim if they're still confident in their game..

Just Cause 3. In Africa. With a cover system. And a non-goofy story.
