| Lets say a new console IS in fact coming out THIS year... How many of you are thinking of holding back buying new games to focus on the new system and games for that? I know I am and that's impacting mt video game purchases for 2013 a lot. So many good games, but... what if? |

the consoles will probably be out before xmas this year, but how many titles? 3-4 AAA titles and a bunch of rush jobs?
current consoles may be useful until the middle of 2014.

| Some great things to look forward to. Top of the list for me, Dark Souls 2, GTA. I'll have no choice but to trade in to play all these awesome games coming out...too many. Then maybe a new console too :O |

I'll focus on this generation until the new system is released, among a lot of AAA titles. It usually takes awhile before there are enough good games out on the system and therefore worth getting, in my humble opinion.
As of now, I'm happy with all of the great games coming out for our beloved x360.

| @1 The games will be backwards compatible anyway. Like being able to play old xbox games on the 360. So whether you upgrade your system on release or 2 years after it, it shouldn't really effect your game buying choice, unless you specifically want to play the new consoles games. |

@1 I'm definately holding out on purcashing a next-gen console until Halo 5 is released. Which could be late 2014(just a stupid guesstimate)
There's so many games I still want to play on my 360, like Alan Wake, Mirror's Edge, and Trials: Evolution.
And as #3 said, it's highly likely that new launch titles on the net gen consoles won't be very stellar. Maybe 2 or 3 of them, but not all. I'll just wait until more quality games appear. Just look at the WiiU. How many of those launch title games would you play? And how many of those WiiU games are already on PC/360/PS3? |

More like X360A's 20 Most anticipated AAA titles of the year.
The only ones that were even remotely out of the everyone and their mother is going to buy list were Remember Me and Injustice: Gods Among Us. Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to Watch Dogs and Dark Souls , but it would be nice to see some games that aren't AAA in a list meant to encompass every game that is going to come out on the console in 2013.
And @14 There are enough to keep a person occupied that are unique to the Wii U. There are maybe 7 or 8 that are worth it at the moment, but there is enough gameplay there to occupy a person until Bayonetta 2, Pikmin 3, and the next Smash Bros come. (Maybe even a sequel to Mad World... I can dream) |

@14 Nintendo hasn't made a console that was relatively successful in terms of game quality since the SNES. It's not intelligent to use them as the standard. |

2013 is definitely shaping up to be a backlog clearing year for me.
Across all systems, the only titles I can say I'm genuinely excited for are Pokemon X/Y and the HD remake of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. |

| Since the next gen microsoft console will most likely not be backwards compatible, I'm going to hold off and keep trying to get to all the 360 games I haven't had a chance to play yet. At least until all the hardware issues and such are worked out. Because we all know there will be some. |

I think there should be honorable mentions even if they don't pan out.
First thought would be defiance, as they are bringing an MMO to the console, which looks to be a bit more sustainable than final fantasy 11 did.
This will hopefully open more for developers to consider when making games, like the possible borderlands MMO, or even an elder scrolls online port.
I understand call of duty not getting a mention as there is no word yet, but battlefield 4 should get a note as well, even though there are no signs of improvements.
@38, I hope saints row is held until the new console. It'll give them a chance to make good game. The third was okay but they are trying to make a name other than a GTA clone. |

| @1 and 3. IMO current consoles will be going for at least 4 years more. I know people that still play on their SNES or Megadrive and occasionally buy games for them. I know that there are a lot games for the 360 that I have not got yet but will do in the next 12 months... like the Assasin Creed series. |

I'm one of the rare goofs that is actually going to get Lost Planet 3. However, I'm still not too sure about the developer, but only time will tell.
Of course I'll get GTA V; can't wait for that game. In addition, Bioshock was always one of my favorite series, so that's another. And Crysis 3 looks like a maybe.
Overall, a pretty dissapointing year so far. We can't really tell just yet, so let's hope we'll have more surprises like Dishonored and XCOM. |

| Shame REMEMBER ME isnt in this list, i know it might not a game for everyone, but if its something close to a mix between AC and Spinter Cell i,m sold. And i watched every vid they released so far and it does look promising! And hey! No love for Defiance? That game looks massive! And it has Co-Op too!! Your numbers are wrong, buddy. 18 sequels? Remember Me, Watch Dogs, Injustice, Star Wars 1313, and South Park are all stand-alone, unique games. Tomb Raider is a series reboot, as is Bioshock Infinite, if you look at it a certain way. (Yes, I know, I'm stretching it a little bit with that one.)
GTA V, Gears Judgement, Dark Souls 2, Lost Planet 3, Dead Space 3, Castlevania: LoS2, DmC, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Rising, Rainbow Six, Crysis 3, Metro: Last Light, and GRID 2 are the only sequels in that video.
20 games, 13 sequels, 7 original games.
And even if you decide to classify Bioshock Infinite as a sequel or prequel (even though Irrational Games has stated that the game has nothing to do with the original two games) then the numbers only become 14/6. That's still way better than the original 18/2 that you claim.
OT:
South Park, Remember Me, and GTA V were the only games I was interested in to start, but now that I've actually seen some footage from Watch Dogs, I may have to check it out. And since the Achievement list for Gears: Judgement has been released, and this iteration of Seriously doesn't look that bad, I may end up getting that at some point as well. |

@65 Nothing, nothing at all, especially when you consider just how much it costs to make a new game from scratch, every sensible publisher is going to have at least one, if not 2 or 3 franchises on the go that will guarantee income for a lower initial outlay. This isn't unique to games. People get pissy about it for the most ridiculous reasons.
Also worth noting is that at this close to the end of a console cycle, we're lucky to be getting any new IP's at all. |

| well for me if the new console will not play escond hand games its very simple i am out of the xbox and into the ps4 if that goes the same way i will say goodbye to consoles i will not be pushed around and told i can not sell or lend my property that i own, if we conform to this we are litterally signing our own death warranties if we stand solid and show them with our wallets they will back track and not try to pull this sort of shit again, its in our hands. |

| Most look good GTA V is a must buy for me but the next gen thing if it has to be online to play even for normal play and they do block used games it'll be sad cause I will be done and move to a PS4 and i really dont want too just have to wait and see if M$ is going to give its fans the finger |

| Haven't gotten Dead Space 3 yet, but I've watched a few walkthroughs, and I do indeed intend to get this shortly. Definitely a fan of this franchise, played both the first and second one. I also preorder Splinter Cell: Black List and GTA 5, DMC doesn't look very interesting. saw some bad reviews on Injustice, but I was never a superhero/supervillian fan. Not a ninja/sword fan, so Metal Gear Rising isn't for me. Already played Bioshock Infinite, and I have to say, I like the first two better. Don't watch South Park. Didn't know a rainbow six game was coming out, might get it. Getting Crysis 3, Gears of War Judgment, and Tomb Raider soon. Not into Star Wars, and never played any Metro game, but it looks good. Never heard of lost planet, but looks like Dead Space and Mass Effect combined. Dark Souls looks like a good game, and I already played GRID 1, didn't like it, so GRID 2 might be a late purchase or a no buy for me. Watch Dogs looks really fun, might get that as well. And even though it didn't look like Remedy had a video, it still sounds like a great game. |

| My days of buying launch consoles are over and this is thanks to Microsoft for the 6-7 360 consoles i went through because of the RROD. |
