Wonderful article! I'm deeply saddened that the season has come to a close, and as I stated on the forum; I've had emotional journeys with music, games and films, but this was one of the most emotional ones I've been on in a long time. The writing was really fantastic. When I had to make certain choices, I was constantly questioning my actions, trying to convince myself that it was the best course of action to take. Sometimes, it was almost suffocating, as I was left thinking "should I have done that? Could I have done it differently?". I know I can go back and change my decisions, but in a way I don't want to. This game felt real, like I was actually there. I can't go back and change my decisions that I made in real life, so I don't think I could bring myself to go back and change them here. What I did, I did and I felt the joys, the heartbreak and the horror from every single one. It's a truly remarkable game. But, is it just a game. It could quite easily stand on its own as an argument for the "are videogames art" debate. It could easily stand, and it could certainly win! |

@ 1 I totally agree. Also season 3 has been a fucking blast! So much happens in the first 2 episodes alone, it's all almost too hard to swallow! I have only played up till episode 3, but now that I've nabbed 3, 4, and 5, I'm going to start over with episode 1 and play through them all one right after the other! I hated waiting in between episodes and forgetting what happened previously... not anymore though! This weekend, I'm going to finish all 5 episodes of the walking dead!!! |

| I can't believe the series is over. One of my favorite games to date. My only thing I don't like is that I got the achievements for episode 2 early the day it came out and they never unlocked. The only way I can get them is by playing again. I admit that their is re playability but the decisions I make, I want to keep. Also with episode 2, their wasn't as big of decisions as their were in the 3 episodes following it. |

@#3 - I don't think you know what kind of game Walking Dead is... It's a point-and-click, more commonly (and originally) just referred to as an "adventure game". It has nothing to do with "modern games". Point-and-click adventures were like this in the early 90s, but the cutscenes were often just scrolling text. |

I finished this a couple of days ago and couldn't stop thinking about the ending, a game that leaves you thinking after you've finished it is a rare and brilliant thing. I just also want to say, how brilliantly voice acted it was and most particularly in the final scenes, if the actors who play Clem and Lee don't pull it off then it could've ruined the game but they absolutely nailed it. *Man Tears were shed* :( |

| I had problem after problem with saves so most of my decisions where reset in chapter 5 which slightly tarnished my experience. I also didn't like the sequel baiting ending which kinda seemed cheap after everything you go through in the game it has no real resolution. It is game of the year for me even with these slight niggles. |

Barring all the technical glitches (people talking to an empty chair where a person should be, playing through the first half of ep 3 3 bloody times because of glitches) it was the redshirts from ep 2 that got me down. We should have gotten more from them instead of starting it up to hi I am new but I have been here for a while |

| One of the best games I have ever played in my 30 years of gaming. But, it's not for everyone. It's a deep game and probably the closest thing to a dramatic movie as far as games go. Kind of like Heavy Rain. You either think it is amazing or that it sucks. The issue with saves was a bit annoying, too. Despite the save problem, it's a GOTY contender for sure. Also, the fact that you get all the achievements just for playing through the game is a plus for me and many other achievement hunters. I got to fully enjoy the game, not having to worry about collectibles or making a specific decision or trying for a certain ending. |

| As much as I loved this game and would recommend it to those who haven't played it I feel that playing all in one go takes something from the game as you don't have the time to reveal in your choices though the game I realize I Will get a lot of hate for this opinion but the obviously excellent writing kept me thinking about the game and how my choices effected each the characters even between episodes I can not wait for season 2 questions need answers |

As much as I did enjoy this game I will have to agree with Cr0w on what he is saying. The gameplay is simply lacking, you need more involvement instead of making a decision here and there and a QTE every now and then. The story was great, some of the characters were great ( Kenny, Clem, Lee, Ben too for me I thought was a good representation of someone who may actually be a complete and total insufferable coward during the apocalypse ) but the way you are dragged along watching most times was kind of lame. I feel that the story was really really good, save for a few of the pointless deaths. As well the part with the woman in the tent confused the fuck out of me after I had finished the game... Overall I think this is a great way for Walking Dead to expand their franchise and even reach out to gamers. For comic readers I believe this is simply a must. For movie goers and fans of the TV series I would say this is worth picking up, at least the story gets you involved enough and the characters are enjoyable and some are easy to get attached to. The graphics are no more than I would expect for an arcade game, however the way they applied the cell shaded style and blended with the looks of the comic are awesome. The game is half price on Steam right now I'm pretty sure, so if you don't mind not getting gamerscore then obviously that's the way to go. And if you're a cheap son of a *****, well you can always watch episodes 1-5 recorded by people on Youtube. Great work Telltale + Kirkman. This is a few steps away from perfect for me, but it was very enjoyable. They will be getting my money on whatever their next Walking Dead iteration is. 8/10 |

GOTY 2012 by far for me. Nothing else comes close. It's actually kind of pathetic for some of this year's big AAA titles that fell flat on their faces, failing to deliver on promises made. Meanwhile, here comes TellTale to show them all how it's done. It's not just every gamer that should play it, it's every developer. Before you go putting another shitty moral choice system that just equates to "good playthrough" and "bad playthrough" with blatantly obvious choices at different ends of the moral spectrum (Mass Effect, inFamous), play The Walking Dead and see how to make proper moral choices. Before you go trying to make us care about a character simply by putting them in a roll of someone we'd normally care about such as a wife or best friend without actually characterizing them properly (Command and Conquer 4, inFamous again because that game really sucks ass), play The Walking Dead and learn how to make characters people will actually care about. Seriously, this game just does everything so well and is a shining example of its genre. To everyone saying "Oh it sucks because there's no gameplay just QTEs" and whatever nonsense, next time pay attention to the fucking genre before you buy it. The gameplay in The Walking Dead is standard for point and click adventure games, this type of game has been played this way since it was created. What are you dumb twats going to do next, buy Forza and claim that it's a bad game because all you do is drive around a track and there's no other gameplay? Stop being fucking retarded, learn what genres are, and learn not to play genres you don't like. |

I simply adore this game, but at the same time @15 brings up some good points I was thinking about as well. The story is truly remarkable and definitely brings new evidence to the "video games as art" discussion, but this wasn't exactly a game as much as it was an interactive movie. Imagine the same art style and story, but instead of the incredibly easy puzzles or QTE, you just make decisions on what to say and do when choices need to be made. Dishonored had that interactive trailer to show off the choices you can make in the game and I can't help feeling it would have beenĀ betterĀ to handle this story that way as well. The game comes from Telltale Games so obviously it is a point and click adventure, which I am fine with, in fact I still love and play their Sam and Max games. The difference that I see between The Walking Dead and other great point and click games, such as Sam and Max, is that with other games, the puzzles in between the story are hard to figure out and take quite a bit of trial and error until you figure out how to compete the obstacle at hand. The Walking Dead, other than the first (and possibly the second) episode were the only one(s) that I actually had to think about how to complete the puzzle and continue on with the game. This is (or should be) a game first and Telltale dropped the ball on that when they focused solely on the story. The story is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but those features that make great adventure games were not there. Also, I just got finished with the last episode and the story in this entire episode is perfect, but did anyone feel like they paid 400 points for a 2 hour epilogue? All it did was tie up loose strings, (albeit the story for those 2 hours were supurb and the normal twists and turns were as jarring as ever) but where is the gameplay? Where is the normal 6-8 hour experience that I've come to expect from each episode thusfar? This is my strongist gripe against this season because for such a great first 4 episodes, this one abandons all gameplay mechanics and goes heart and soul into a very short conclusion to such a fantastic season. If you are going to request the same amount of money for this episode as you did for the first 4, then make it just as long. For all these gripes and nitpicks, I have 100 praises for this game, but this ending has me on a sour note. (Also, i agree with @11 with the new people from episode 2. I was not as attached to them as I was with the other characters. He was just a plot device, nothing more.) I give this game a 7/10, but I would give it a perfect score if it was a interactive movie. I may be wrong, but that is my opinion. |

| To the ignorant fucks who downvoted and were too lazy to read my comment and realize how much praise I actually gave this game. If you read all of the positives I have for this game. Only issue for me was the lack of involvement, I feel there should have been more. Next time listen to what someone has to say before knocking them. Didn't like the first 5 words I said, maybe if you weren't so "holier than thou" and quick to dismiss others opinions you would see what some people have to say is actually positive. Pompus pricks need to grow the fuck up. Fucking gaming community today is so full of shit. |

The thing I loved about this game, well, one aspect, is that it's nothing like other games that are about at this time, the closest being witcher2 for the decision making I suppose. It's refreshing to see a point and click game again, it's been so many years since my last point and click game, but this game is brilliant, I've not bought episode 4 and 5 yet, but if they're anything like 3, then I know I'll love them, if that's the right word with the events of episode 3. I love the walkig dead series in it's entirety, I love the comics, the simple artstyle, it's nice to see a modern comic that only use's black ink, the amazing tv series adaptation, that season 3 has had me on the edge of my seat for (new episode tonight!), as well as the constant question, of will rick loose his hand? I hope that the next game will be a good game, I think it'll be more generic, saddly, but can always hope otherwise. The walking dead is a comic, tv, and maybe even game series that will be remembered for a long time to come :) |

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thought that it was too short (although the last "chapter" in it was masterfully done.) |

Lol@21. Seriously? You call that a tantrum? I'm not on here cursing and making spelling mistakes or being an ass and writing in all CAPS.... People read the first thing, which was me saying I agreed with Cr0W. Yet they didn't read which part I agreed with him on. Instead they see Cr0W's name, his first post, and say "Oh noez you didn't.".... If you're going to come on here and make retorts like that just to be an ass and get yourself laughing, then well, you're not being very "grow up" about it... Chances are you never actually read what I wrote either, instead you just wanted to make a saucy remark at someone else's expense. Funny thing is those people who don't care, and all the other ass hats like them, would be the first to die in the apocalypse because everyone fucking hates them and their attitude towards others. Or they'd survive and be all alone because people would rather take their chances among the dead than to put up with someone like them. |

| Just hope they put the next "season" out in one shot, sust sell it on disc from the start for maybe $30-40. I'd pay an extra few bucks just to not have to have so much HDD space used up. The "episodes" format was a disaster. They couldn't even keep a consistent release schedule. If they had waited on this one and sold it as a traditional retail game, it probably would have sold more. They could have just released it a week before the show's premiere and made a killing. |

Was very near to purchasing Episode 1 on day 1 but thought I would wait for the whole series before I got them. That was pretty much because if the tv show was anything to go by I knew I couldn't wait too long without getting withdrawl symptoms like I have for Breaking Bad at the moment. Then I found out they were coming out on disc so I'm double happy that I waited. BTW, I find it so depressing that everytime I click on a news item or something on here there's so many people raging or one person raging at everyone else. Seriously, chill people and show the love. |

It is such a great gaming series with a great story line, only problem though is that it all boils down to the same endings, eg the end of the game, kenny, lilly. No matter how you play the game the same things or similar events will happen. But still it is a fantastic series and I hope they release another. Anyone who slates this game saying it is boring is an immature child, I know that is there opinion but it is probably the most interesting and fulfilling game I have ever played and i'm not alone on that idea. This game is applicable to all gamers regardless of skill, hell even my mum played this and loved it. For any who hasn't already, get this game! |

| @32 The second season could release on disc and make a lot of money, but I think the main reason the first season did so well is because each episode was 400 points. People are more willing to take a chance on something that could have been just a cash in, if it's not much more then a mobile/cellphone game. |

| I've never been hit so hard emotionally by a piece of media. I think the later interactions with Carly hit me most. The helplessness when you realize that even though you're playing a game, there are certain parts of life that just can't change no matter how hard you try. You might be the invincible "player," but the game brings you back down to earth as just another person living in a rapidly deteriorating world. You can be the best you can, but that isn't always enough. |

For me this has been my game of the year, in fact one of my most memorable games ever. It's such an atypical game, more an interactive experience. I'm a big fan of both the comic and tv series and this definitely holds its own. Developers could definitely learn from the characterisation, story telling and moral choice. I'm thinking of games like fable, mass effect etc and the so called right or wrong decisions having an affect on the game. This felt like the actions and decisions actually had a profound affect on the rest of the story, and it did feel quite a personal game, the decisions made coming with real consequences both good bad and shocking. Cannot recommend this enough and here's hoping season 2 is as strong |

This was basically my first point and click adventure. While it does lack modern gameplay mechanics, it makes up for it with Raw and Gritty story, and characters that you actually care about! I did have alot of problems with the game losing my game saves and had to start over 3 or 4 times because of it though. Hopefully this will be fixed when TT gives us season 2. |

Just finished off the last three episodes recently after dropping the ball on this. It just gets better & better & is easily a GOTY contender:) My only gripe is that there only appears to be one ending?!?! It could have done with a touch more tailoring, but I would happily buy it on disc & use the achievements as an excuse to do it all again:)! Bravo!Great work chaps, a real masterpiece:) |

I loved the game for the very same reasons as many of the above stated. What I do find interesting is how similar this game is to Heavy Rain, yet Heavy Rain did not receive half the recognition that The Walking Dead. I'm not trolling as I love each game on their own, but interested in what others have to say. I mean Heavy Rain was just as horrifying, emotional and deep as The Walking Dead, but yet fell under the radar almost. I'm talking about major themes in the game(gameplay, scenario's, story, structure) rather than specific and obvious storyline differences. It's as if the name itself gained so much popularity from the television show>comic>game or whichever order pending on what media you first got a taste of The Walking Dead on is what's giving it an upper edge. The other reason is how TWD is multiplatform versus Sony's Heavy Rain. I love this game don't get me wrong, but I also love Heavy Rain and both are extremely similar. For those who also enjoyed and TWD and have access to a Ps3 you should checkout Heavy Rain. When I owned my Ps3 before switching to Xbox I loved the game and still rank it as my favourite game of this gen solely for the same reason why you guys love TWD. Food for thought that's all! |

| I hope the retail will be as good as the arcade version. I hope they don't turn this series into a first or third person shooter. It would ruin the name because there are already so many of those that have already have come out or will come out. |

| @65 - The other Walking Dead game isn't developed by the same company. |

This was fun even playing through the chapters twice because I stayed up those nights to dwnld new episodes B4 list was updated. FUCKING HATED the ending tho and cannot belive people got sooo emotional & even CRIED over a video game? and not because you were playing to long you eyes watered...Could not belive goty not with that ending By Far best story telling ever in a game yes murder, cannibalism, child exploitation, survival, forgot it was even a zombie game. would buy disc version just to back up harddrive. great replay, needs inverted control option but not for the faint of heart cant belive not all regions can play this thou, should be required criteria for all. |

@59 For Christs sake, people like you are ruining gaming for everyone. He's entitled to his opinion, and it isn't exactly invalid. I love the game, but sometimes it's gameplay content is a bit on the... off, side. Such as in Episode 5 when you're 'trapped' at the start. I was expecting a more complicated method of escape, like in the old point and clicks such as Monkey Island and the Indy games, but instead the game practically led you on. I love the game for it's story, and how you can mould that through your interactions, namely in the speaking sections. But I can't help but notice the later episodes got progressively more lite on gameplay. Broaden your arguments as well, the internet's insistance on insinuating someone is a CoD player because they don't enjoy a certain game is just getting sad. OT: Agree with the article, it's a relatively must-buy if you love a good story. If you want gameplay, still consider it - maybe try the first episode when it's free on Christmas :) |

@#3 Even though I disagree, I can understand how you hate cut-scenes and QTE. But to say story was terribly written made me LOL. If this story did not saitsfy you (provided you play whole game) than I am afraid no story ever will. OT: Glad to see game receive so much praise, I bought every single episode on day one and have beeaten them twice. I can honestly say, I am a good guy, because sometimes I had difficulty being a dick (on my other playthrough). Looking forward to season 2!!!! |
