| Those online achievements are rubbish. If you're going to put some in at least make them worth while. Play 3 times? It sounds like they dont want people to play online. | ||

| Overall liking the list, the longevity is covered by the Vanquisher achievement I think. Whilst I enjoy beat'em ups, I am sometimes a little daunted by some of the achievements that are given for online play, but that's just me :D | ||

| Maybe the lack of online achievements will make room for less boosters/more competitive fights. Oh wait... It's Tekken.... Either way, I'm actually happy to see that I don't have to get that many online achievements. I usually don't feel like online till after I get what I want from single player anyhow, and by then the matchmaking is dead/near dead/full of only uber ranked folk. | ||

| Looks like a relatively straightforward list this at first glance. @3 Bollocks, they are one of the things that keep people playing online and not moving onto another game within a couple of days. Crazy talk. | ||

| @6 well if you are a fan of fighting games you play online for ranking up fun and improving you're skills achievements are the last thing they think about | ||
![]() Forum Posts: 7 | Comment #8 by RancidSkank Thursday, August 16, 2012 @ 08:17:59 AM
| @7 of course you play for practice and fun, but I highly doubt most people would bother sticking around for 500 Ranked matches on SF X T or 300 matches in KoFXIII if there wasn't an achievement for it. I also can't understand the differentiation between the offline achievements and online achieves - do you not also play offline for fun and to improve your skills? Dies that mean people dont play offline for achievements either? Bit of a waste of webspace this site in that case surely? | ||

| @8 of course they will stick around for 300+ matches if they like the game why wouldn't they? I have put over 600 hours into street fighter 4 because i love the game, not to get achievements.just look 6 months down the line it's not going to be achievement whores and boosters playing TTT2 it will be the players that enjoy the game. | ||

| As a fighting game fan I've put in over 15 thousand online matches in SSF4. So I don't want to hear that most people don't play unless there are achievements. People don't play COD everyday because of achievements, or Halo. People have different reasons for playing their games online. Most people don't do it for the achievements. The whole world isn't boosting for achievements. They are meant to be something fun to add to a game. As far as the list goes this looks like a pretty easy list, and I'm looking forward to it next month. So much to do in the game. | ||

| Iv never heard such elitism in my life. So what if people play fighting games for achievements, So what if they dont? The fact of the matter is you're going to get more people playing online with online achievements then without. C for shining c is a perfect example of how achievements can diversify the online community, so we don't have to suffer 15 thousand online matches against Ken. | ||
![]() Forum Posts: 7 | Comment #13 by RancidSkank Thursday, August 16, 2012 @ 08:42:01 AM
| @9 and 11 So, with your vast amount of experience in SSFIV, how many times did you encounter the following: Flowchart Ken/Shoto characters Runaway Akuma with 1 round, 30 second timer set up People that DC from ranked as soon as they see your name pop up Turbo Pad users Lag switchers I'd say over 50% of matches, maybe even as much as 75% of matches in Ranked mode end up as one of these options, or an equivalent option in another fighting game. I hate to break it to you, but they aren't playing for fun... Personally, I treat them hand in hand, not mutually exclusive. I racked up 600 hours on SSFIV myself, but in the process made sure I got the Ranked achievements/C to Shining C etc as I went. If those incentives weren't there, I would have most likely moved on way before hitting 600 hours online, even though I loved the game to bits. | ||

| @ 12 What are you on about? If the game is fun then there will be a community for it. Achievements don't make a game fun, all it does is have boosters and hunters taking up the online space of those who are trying to play for FUN. Nowhere did I said it is a problem for someone to play online for achievements, I was saying that it isn't the only reason why people play online. With as many matches as I've played I rarely see Ken. Why? Because after people stop playing the game after they get their achievements and bailing on the game you are left with people who are more diverse with character selection and enjoying the game for what it is. | ||
![]() Forum Posts: 218 | Comment #15 by Cinderkin Thursday, August 16, 2012 @ 08:53:33 AM
| @ 13 My point exactly. They were probably playing for the achievement points. And people played like that when the game first came out 4 years ago because they wanted the points. Nowadays you never see that crap because the community is just those that care for the game. I haven't seen a DC in 2 years, I don't use the quick search option so I never fall into the 30 second room trap. As far as turbo users and flowchart users you'll find those in every game not just fighters, they are called cheaters. Can't do much about that, but then again in this stage of the game I rarely see that either. My point in my original 11 post was that everyone plays online for a different reason. Achievements aren't the only reason why we stick around. So you saying Tekken will be dead in a few months doesn't make much sense. The reason Tekken 6 was dead was because of the horrid Online Netcode. TTT2 is supposed to fix that meaning it will have a huge online life for years to come, just like Street Fighter and MvC3 does. | ||

| @14 Nobody has said people play games for achievements. You stated and i quote: 'as a fighting game fan I've put in over 15 thousand online matches in SSF4. So I don't want to hear that most people don't play unless there are achievements' Which was in direct reference to what exactly? You seem to be arguing with your own point. Ill condense what I said: People play how they want. If you have an achievement for play 300 matches, there will be more people playing as you will capture that demographic. Regardless of their skill level. | ||

| @16 No I was responding to @8 who said most people wouldn't stick around a play a game if there wasn't an achievement for it. Which I stated that I don't want to hear that, because I and a lot of other people play online because it's fun. And I don't know why your condensing what you said even though in my original post I said people have different reasons for playing online and achievements aren't always the case. So let me say it again what are you on about? No one was even talking to you and you've decided to come at me for whatever reasons, when we are both saying the same thing. | ||
![]() Forum Posts: 7 | Comment #19 by RancidSkank Thursday, August 16, 2012 @ 09:03:38 AM
| @15 The whole discussion was in relation to this comment: 'people dont play online for achievements' I'm pointing out that most people do. Sure, there will be hardcore fans of any game you care to mention that will continue to play for hundreds of hours after completing everything, but for the most part any online game you play will have these kind of berks in almost every lobby. When the game has been out for awhile, you are right in saying the achievement hunters move on and leave the legit players, but that online population also tends to fall to a fraction of the amount at the same time, which was my point all along. Achievements like 'Win 500 matches' keep the population of the game going much longer than 'Win 3 matches' will with this game. | ||

![]() Forum Posts: 218 | Comment #21 by Cinderkin Thursday, August 16, 2012 @ 09:06:19 AM
| @19 No doubt about that, but I guess my point was that we are on two different sides of the fence. As I said I'm a huge fighting game fan, so the lack of online achievements doesn't make me want to play it less. I don't care about the points, I just hope the game is fun. | ||
![]() Forum Posts: 7 | Comment #22 by RancidSkank Thursday, August 16, 2012 @ 09:07:13 AM
| @18 You might not want to hear it, but it's true. The vast majority of the online population on most games disappears once the achievements have been picked up. Either that, or everyone is purposely avoiding me when searching for matches on fighters more than a year old... | ||

| @1 it says to reach 1st dan in online. You have to go through 9th kyu -> 1st kyu and then 1st dan comes after that. It takes quite a few wins to get there and you can also go down a rank if you lose too much. It's a fairly challenging achievement for online and doable if you just play enough. | ||

| @8 - Ridiculous. The Tekken 5 community is still very much alive, and I highly doubt that is made up of boosters. I will be playing this for God knows how long after release because I love Tekken. If you think adding online achievements adds longevity you clearly know nothing. Street Fighter IV's community is still alive and kicking after the long time it has been out. People love fighting games. Achievements may be what keeps you in the game but Tekken has a huge fan base, and not a fraction of those fans will stop playing once they 100% it. Ludicrous argument. I remember when gaming was about fun, when it was about beating the competition no matter what and having a laugh in the process. | ||

| Very good list in all areas, 1st Dan online should keep the online play going. It will be similar to Soul Calibur V Ranking system. So if you need to boost it shouldn't be a problem. Pre-Order coming up. Now have to wait & see what Dead or Alive have to offer, I don't think it will be half as easy as this I expect it to be a rock hard list. | ||
