Ladies and gents, cats and dogs, wallabies and badgers, we are very proud today to unveil the first of many big features we have planned for 2012: our very own video hub.
Yes, that’s right, we’ve cut away our ties with YouTube – so no more unjust copyright infraction claims and such – and we’ve got our very own custom solution in place to provide you a more reliable solution, so every video you’ll ever need for the Xbox 360 is right here under our roof.
That not only means can you keep a track of the newest videos we upload daily in our video hub or on the main page; or that we can feature our more unique and engaging content in a much more visible fashion; but it also means you can find what you want that much quicker.
Want to see what trailers Ubisoft have released for Assassin’s Creed III? Then simply search for Assassin’s Creed III in the search box and you’ll find all the videos not just accessible from the game’s overview page and from the nav bar and the side column in associated pieces, but you’ll find them in its very own video page. In short, there’s more content now than ever before under one roof and it’s easier to find.
With videos and everything else under the one roof now, you don’t need to go anywhere else for Xbox 360 content ever – that was always our aim. You can even leave a comment on the specific video page and not have to deal with the dregs of society that pollute YouTube’s comments area – yes, we’ll moderate it as well, meaning you can report comments if you deem them inappropriate.
This not only means that we can run a much better and more reliable service for our videos, but it means we now have a platform to do much more unique content, not just from trade shows and what not, but fantastic content that we think up with our tiny pea-sized brains.
There are currently around 3,000 trailers in our database and we’ll be constantly adding new ones when they crop up. If you notice any issues, bugs, typos, missing videos, just fire us an email to email@example.com with the title “About the New Video Section…” and we’ll fix it within the hour… well, within the day.
In the interest of openness and communication – two pillars that we build the site upon – yes, there will be video advertisements being rolled out (some will show for some regions now) in the coming months and that’s for one simple reason: video hosting is a costly affair. Our goal with this new venture is not to make revenue, but to simply make it pay for itself, so we hope you understand why they’re necessary.
Thank you for your continued support and we hope you enjoy the first of many features that we’ll be rolling out throughout the year, so stick with us and see what else we have in store for you.
Next up: the mobile phone app!
