Although I disagree with a few of these, I do have to say an overall nice list. One thing I really disagree with though is the Kinect as a gameplay feature. It's not a feature in a game, instead I would have chosen something from one of the Kinect games. Anyway, it's a nice list and since I like to voice my opinion, here's my take: Best Premise: Red Dead Redemption Best Story: (First off, why the hell is Halo: Reach not on here?!?) Mass Effect 2(Even if it is way over-cliched...) Best MP: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Best Graphics: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood(A large improvement over ACII including the cut-scenes.) Original Score: Halo: Reach New Franchise: (I too, would like to nominate Metro 2033 into the list, actually, I'm surprised it's not on the list...) Enslaved Arcade Game: (Why no DeathSpank?) Raskulls Innovative Gameplay Feature: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood's Multiplayer(As much as I like the Kinect, I don't feel you should generalize an entirely new system of playing a game into this category, but oh well, I'm sure it'll win anyway.) Surprise: Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Disappointment: Medal of Honor Developer: Bungie Studios Publisher: EA Games Game of the Year: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood |

| @6 Well that has been done before, even in one of biowares earlier games baldurs gate. And it's not really that revolutionary nor amazing, just read the saves from the first game and then use those outcomes in the second game. I though they didn't implement it that well anyway because in the first game I chose Udina to be councillor and in ME2 when Miranda runs the test on you I selected Anderson for fun and I expected her to say "No you chose Udina you forgetful bitch" and instead it just changed it so Anderson was councillor. Messing with time is dangerous... |

| I'd say the Force Unleashed 2 was the biggest disappointment. That game had potential to do for the franchise what Assassins Creed 2 did for its franchise. As for multiplayer I'd say its a tie between Brotherhood and Halo: Reach. And GOTY is obviously Red Dead Redemption. |

Maybe I'm just saying this cuz I just finished Minerva's Den, but... Why isn't Bioshock 2 anywhere on here? I mean, when put against its predecessor, it's not amazing, but it's got a real heart to it, and did some fine work with the latter DLC. For that matter, why no DLC section? Ah well, at least it made it safely out of the "Disappointment" field. :/ A rather predictable list, though, aside from a few of the categories. Somehow I get the feeling I won't be too surprised by the outcome. |

Considering I like to keep BioWare's dick in my mouth at all times, be warned when Mass Effect 2 appears the most on here. Best Premise: Enslaved Best Story: Mass Effect 2 Best MP: Bad Company 2 (with Black Ops a close second. It's fun and definitely better than MW2 by a long shot, but it still has a few kinks to work out) Best Graphics: Assassins Creed: Brotherhood (Although I have never played F1 2010 before and I imagine a racing game would have the best graphics) Best Original Score: Mass Effect 2 Best New Franchise: Alan Wake Best Arcade Game: Dead Rising: Case Zero Most Innovative gameplay feature: Mass Effect 2's save system Best Surprise: Enslaved Worst Disappointment: Tie between Crackdown 2 and Medal Of Honor Best Developer: BioWare Best Publisher: Rockstar GOTY: Mass Effect 2! |

Here is my own personal opinion. And as for Bioware having character imports previously, Baldurs Gate only imported your characters stats and nothing else, Mass Efffect imports the whole universe snapshot, ie who is dead/alive, who likes you, who doesn't, what quests you finished/ignored. Its a whole different system with alot more coding than you think, as I've counted at least 200 variables. Of which it shows the 7 biggest impacts (Or so you think) at the start of the game. But anyway, I love Bioware, and have done for years, so here's my ten penneth's worth: New premise - Enslaved Best Story - Mass Effect 2 Best MP - Halo Best graphics - F1 2010 Best Original Score - Mass Effect 2 Best new Franchise - Alan Wake Best Arcade - Limbo Innovative feature - Mass Effect 2 Save System Suprise - Enslaved Disappointment - The Force Unleashed 2 (And as a guy who loves anything Star Wars, you KNOW this has to be bad). Developer - Bioware Published - Rockstar GOTY - Mass Effect 2 |

to me, Castlevania: Lords of Shadows is a serious contender for the GOTY. thats just my opinion though, but it's an awesome game at all levels. gamplay, graphics, story, duration... definitely one of the most underrated games out there. i really enjoyed it and i haven't played many of the games on the list, but from those i've played, i liked it better than RDR, black ops, AC:B... ps.no forza motorsport either... |

@7, if you actually played Baldur's Gate, the only thing that carried over to the next game were your character stats. Every character in 2 that was also met in 1 had a dialogue option for "Aren't you dead?" And the problem with Udina/Anderson came from the fact that your game saved after defeating Saren, not after the final cutscene. Nice to see Bayonetta in contention for Game of the Year. I don't think it will win (or should win, go ME2), but it definitely isn't out of place on the list. It would get my vote for best new franchise for sure. It was definitely a good year for games, this list proves it. |

@33 Ok well I didn't know it saved after defeating Saren so my bad, and even though baldurs gate only imported stats it still doesn't change the fact that the mass effect 2 idea has been done before. Maybe its never been such a big feature before and is much more awesome in ME2 but I hardly see how it is innovative. Anyway that is just my opinion I still love ME and Bioware. @20 I only took it out when they announced ME2 for PS3, but then I stopped caring and put it back in. |

Best Premise Red Dead Redemption Best Story Mass Effect 2 Best Graphics I'm really torn but I think F1 2010 is still astounding. Original Score I always feel this is a total diddy prize. New Franchise Dance Central - Gay as I looked dancing with my shirt Britney Spears up while dancing to Kylie Minogue, I thought this was great. I expect it'll go Guitar Hero-wise soon, but for now... Arcade Game Dead Rising: Case Zero - great price, great fun, easy 200. Innovative Gameplay Feature Kinect - Gotta be Disappointment Kane & Lynch 2 - OH GOOD GOD IT MUST BE THIS. THIS WAS SUCH A TOTAL PILE OF PISH. I enjoyed K&L, this was just a disappointment. Thankfully it was my co-op buddy that bought it and it was a short experience. Developer BioWare - Simply on my ME2 man love. Publisher Ubisoft GOTY Mass Effect 2 - By a mile. It is one of the all time best games I've ever played. I loved this so much. AC:B was great but nothing compares to ME2 in terms of sheer awesomeness and obsession with the game. |

My thoughts are... Best Premise: Dead Rising 2. They will both cover wars. Best Story: Alan Wake. I believe this is near unique, and it brought a great breathe of dark air into the horror genre. Best Multiplayer: Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Halo & COD just brought more of the same. Yawn. Best Graphics: Mass Effect 2 Best Original Score: Halo Reach. Environmentals...perfect. Best New Franchise: Alan Wake. Same reason as Best Story. Best Arcade Game: I'm gonna say...Raskulls, with Limbo being VERY close. The reason I go for Raskulls is that once you've 100%d Limbo...there's no replayability. Best Innovative Feature: Kinect. Lets pet a cub today. Best Surprise: N/A. I've not been able to paly any of these so it wouldn't be fair for me to say best surprise. Biggest Disappointment: Kane & Lynch 2. Online is dead. *sad* Best Developer: Bioware. Best Publisher: Microsoft game studios...Halo and kinectimals. *heart* GAME OF THE YEAR: I would personally say Alan Wake, simply because it's just so...unique, but as that's not an option, Red Dead Redemption. |

Kane and Lynch 2 was the most disappointing game for me. They made the it worse in everyway. Dead Rising 2 also hugely disappointed me compared to the first one. I think Alan Wake should be up there for best graphics as well, the graphics stunned me when I first started playing it, and it was only in SD. |

@34, I think the big thing about the ME2 save system is the detail, and the fact that it was the first time a console game had tried it. Every other game that I saw with that idea was a PC game, Like Quest for Glory, which Activision needs to get off its ass and release for XBLA. Raskulls definitely deserves arcade game of the year. Unless Limbo blows me away when I get it cheap on the 31st. Toughest category has got to be Developer. BioWare had one of the best games of the decade and gace us a ton of good DLC for Dragon Age, Harmonix shook up the rythym genre and created the best launch title for Kinect, and well, Ubi Montreal is Ubi Montreal... |

| GOTY should probably be Red Dead Redemption, not Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Brotherhood was a good game and all, but I found the story a bit shallow, and I still believe having one city is just strange. Rome wasn't big enough for my taste. It was basically a rehash of Assassin's Creed 2, but not as good. All in my opinion, of course! |

I really need to ask why all the games nominated for Disappointment (with the exception of TFU2) we're expected to suck anyway. Why weren't games that we're supposed to be good that actually did suck, be on that list instead? Final Fantasy XIII, Halo Reach, Fable III, Black Ops to name a few. None the less I expect Mass Effect, Red Dead and Assassin's Creed to sweep the awards. |

Whats the point in asking our views youve picked and missed some games of the list that need to be added for me the sims 3 was a huge surprise how brilliant it is for the console How is Kinect a game play feature. This is silly ! maybe next year you should have polls in what games make the list. |

@#80 - We might throw a People's Choice category in next year, but this way we can give you our opinion on what we thought were the best games of the year. Sometimes the loudest people on the internet don't make up the majority, so public votes can be skewed. For instance, more people have played Black Ops than Bayonetta & Alan Wake combined, so it's likely to get more votes because of how many bought it and liked it, not because it's a better game. It's done on numbers, not percentages. @#81 - There are two types of gaming awards from my perspective. Those that break them down into every category under the sun, and the more artsy-fartsy type that bundles them all into various headers... We're the latter, partly because would it really be that interesting to read who won best fighter of 2010 when there was only really one released? =P Same with racing... and then, what happens to games that aren't really easy to categorise. It all becomes a little convoluted. |

I don't know how Red Dead Redemption is in there for anything except a good ending, the character was unlikeable and we had nothing of the story explained on the boring, long train scene at the beginning...you know, the part where the story is usually explained? It was a crap game. Best Premise: Not sure what that means so I'll just say Fable III because it's my favourite for that category. Best Story: Come on, the BioWare game. Mass Effect 2. /voting Best Multiplayer: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, much better than just shoot and kill, shoot and kill. Best Graphics: Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. Original Score: Halo Reach, completely epic and moving. New Franchise: Darksiders, sure it ripped off a lot of games but it was extremely fun. Arcade Game: LIMBO. Innovative Gameplay Feature: Kinect, it's actually really good. Surprise: Singularity. Disappointment: I haven't played any of those but I traded in a brand new copy of Kane & Lynch 2 not long after it came out (it came with a Xbox Slim) and got around $30 because people had been trading it in so much...I'll just say Kane & Lynch 2. Developer: BioWare FTW! Publisher: Ubisoft. GOTY: Mass Effect 2, it deserves to win because they actually put EFFORT into it people. It's not GTA with horses, it's IMPROVEMENT! |

Best Premise - Red Dead Redemption (Classic Western Game GB&U) Best Story - Red Dead Redemption Best MP - Bad Company 2 (teamwork in a MP game is really rare unlike this game which stresses it) Best Graphics - Red Dead Redemption (detail is amazing) Original Score - Red Dead Redemption (great tunes) New Franchise - Bayonetta (Great Game Overall) Arcade Game - Limbo (Unique Game Experience) Innovative Gameplay Feature - Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’s Multiplayer (played the Beta and had hours of fun, didn't buy because I was low on cash and was good with BFBC2) Surprise - Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (Wow Just Amazing) Disappointment - Medal of Honor (Danger Close dun goof'd) Developer - Platinum Games (Bayonetta and Vanquish... not to mention these guys made Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and God Hand years ago and it's great seeing that they are still going it strong now with Sega) Publisher - Microsoft Game Studios (Raskulls, Alan Wake, Fable 3, Halo: Reach, ilomilo, Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Forza 3, South Park and the 2 Doritos games) GOTY - Red Dead Redemption (why would it be anything else this game is near perfect and a good homage to classic western, but more importantly it was done right and is very fun to just roam around) |

| @94 If you didn't care for the game, then why sit through a long cutscene? If I remember correctly (which is unlikely), I believe there was some foreshadowing in that cutscene. Also, the game had a great overall story, great gameplay, and not to mention amazing graphics. |

I know that many will disagree with this, but I hope that RDR doesn't win the GOTY award. While you never hear anything about it, I experienced a lot of glitches. Their added challenges didn't work, multiplayer didn't work at all excluding private free-roam (instead of solving this they actually reduced the exp you got in free-roam, hurray...), the first DLC (although it was free) introduced 16 player lobbies for 4 player co-op matches, checkpoints spawned people in the river (killing them) and I've probably forgotten a few. While I enjoyed the game while I still played it, these bugs have ruined my view of the game. |

Almost everyone on here is a fanboy for one game. I think mass effect 2 is one of the best games of all time so I'm giving it game of the year but it doesn't deserve to win all of the other categories. Best Premise Dead Rising 2 (Love the combo weapon feature and the story.) Best Story Mass Effect 2 (Amazing story, can't wait for mass effect 3.) Best MP Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (Single player is almost like playing AC2 but the online was a great addition) Best Graphics Red Dead Redemption (I'm a big mass effect fanboy but I think Red Dead has better graphics) Original Score Final Fantasy XIII (No explanation needed) New Franchise Alan Wake Arcade Game Dead Rising: Case Zero (Great tie in to DR2 and at a cheap price) Innovative Gameplay Feature Kinect (With everyone else on that this shouldn't be in this category but it is pretty awesome) Surprise (Haven't played any of these games so I can't give my vote) Disappointment Crackdown 2 (The only disappointment with star wars was the short story but everything else in the game was amazing. I think they made up for it with the $1 dlcs. Don't know why I even bothered with crackdown 2, the first one wasn't even that great) Developer Harmonix (With the new rock band and dance central plus all of the songs they add every week how could you not pick them. Bioware is a close second. Mass effect 2 was awesome but they even made it better with the dlcs they released.) Publisher EA (Dont know how they keep improving nhl, madden but they do. Plus they had a hand in mass effect, the sims 3, rock band until recently. So I think they deserve this category hands down) GOTY Mass Effect 2 (No brainer) |

I've now accepted the comment rating system, and agree that you should only post when you have something legitimate to say. I think something that would be cool to add to the site is to be able to go to a gamer's profile and click something if that gamer has helped you earn achievements and how many achievements they helped you with and award a badge if a gamer helps with "X" amount of achievements or "X" amount of unique gamertags. Let's try to lift up and not tear down. There is so much negativity in the world today, maybe we can give our fellow gamers at least a superficial reward for their help. |

Best Premise Red Dead Redemption Best Story I personally think that Black Ops should be in here, but out of the choices I would say RDR. Best MP Gotta go with Black Ops since it is fun and was such a huge improvement from MW2. A lot of good MP games though this year. Best Graphics Halo: Reach Original Score Halo: Reach New Franchise Darksiders Arcade Game I think Monday Night Combat should of been a nominee and should of won. Innovative Gameplay Feature Kinect Surprise Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit Disappointment Medal of Honor looked pretty good before it was released and I was pretty excited about it, got it and it was crap. I am keeping it now just for the BF3 beta. Developer Ubisoft Montreal Publisher Microsoft Game Studios GOTY A lot of good games this year, but I think again Black Ops should of been a nominee and I think it should win. From the list though, and it is an amazing list, I would have to go with RDR since it was a big game, with great graphics, great story, a good MP, and a great premise. One thing I dont agree with the site is the lack of Black Ops in certain categories, I think of Call of Duty wasn't in front of it, it would of been in the list. I think people should stop viewing CoD as the Anti Christ of gaming as it isn't that bad of a game, in fact it was a great game this year. Plus with Treyarch supporting the game unlike IW did with MW2, I think it deserved a little better recognition. |

It's an interesting list but i'm not going to bore people by writing my list of thoughts, no one will read it anyway. I would like to see best XBLA game added to the categories and my vote would go to Super Meat Boy |

Best Premise: Red Dead Redemption Best Story: Mass Effect 2 Best MP: None in my opinion but I guess i will go with Assassins Creed for the simple fact that it is good fun and it something new. Best Graphics: Mass Effect 2 or Red Dead Redemption. Original Score: Assassins Creed New Franchise: Enslaved Arcade Game: Dead Rising: Case Zero Innovative Gameplay Feature: Assassins Creed MP Surprise: Just Cause 2 Disappointment: FORCE UNLEASHED II my god that game was so poor compared to the first one. Publisher: EA simply because FIFA 11 is awsome. GOTY: Mass Effect 2 or Red Dead Redemption, both really good games |

| I've noticed a lot of people hating on Fable 3, not just on the forums but on Xbox Live as well.. You are wrong. Fable 3 is not a horrible game. It does some things better than 2. The sanctuary is better than the old menus. The graphics are much better. I'm still getting use to the new game so I don't know about all of the features but so far I'm liking the new Albion. |

As far as Xbox 360 titles this year, my nominees were; - Mass Effect 2 - Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition - Red Dead Redemption - Halo Reach - Dead Rising 2 My favorite 360 title would be a tie between Mass Effect 2 and Red Dead Redemption. However, I feel that God of War 3 should be the game of the year. Here are some theories and opinions/improvements on this list; - The Best Premise should, without a doubt, be Red Dead Redemption or Dead Rising 2. God of War 3 had an excellent one as well, my pick would probably be Dead Rising 2. - The Best Story is Heavy Rain. I cannot stress enough, I have never came across a game with as big a plot than Heavy Rain's. - The Best MultiPlayer is definitely Halo Reach's. - The Best Graphics go to God of War 3, the scale of all of the madness is epic as it is, but just being able to manage the detail and frame rate is unheard of. Santa Monica is composed of geniuses the gaming business needs to take note from. - The Best Original Score is either Final Fantasy 13 or Halo Reach. - New Franchise winner should go to Heavy Rain. - The Best Arcade Game is Joe Danger. - The Most Innovative Gameplay Feature is a tie between many features; Black Ops' Combat Training, Heavy Rain's button-timing feature, Mass Effect's Save-Transfer system, and Bad Company 2's class unlock feature - The Surprise of the year was Amnesia. Just play it on the PC. - The Dissapointment of the Year was definitely Metroid: Other M. - The Developer of the Year is a tie between Santa Monica Studious and Blizzard. - Publisher of the Year is Nintendo - Game of the Year is a tie between God of War 3 and StarCraft 2. |
