The Official x360a Guide Book
The Official x360a Guide Book
Written Sunday, February 08, 2009 by Dan Webb

That’s right, you can now own your very own slice of x360a history/memorabilia/awesomeness/convenience for your own home as Prima and Xbox 360 Achievements dot org have teamed up together to bring you our very own Guide Book. For months in the run up to Christmas, we have been working alongside Prima to bring our digital guides to a more tangible format and thanks to them, that is now possible.

The guide book contains a few of the many great guides that appear on this site up to the end of October 2008, 73 of them in fact. Ranging from the 360’s killer apps to family titles, every genre is covered. The book is available in most English speaking countries in some of the biggest stores (Wal-Mart, Gamestop, Game Crazy), some of the biggest online stores and that bloke that sells books on the street corner that always smells like cabbage.

The book for us was the perfect way for us to reach a larger audience that may not have already heard about our big corner of the internet that we sleep in and get our name even further out there. Aside from the promotional aspect, it's also allowed us to plan some pretty epic things for in the future that will no doubt improve everyone's experience on the site. Bold statement using the word, everyone, but damn, there is some awesome stuff going on behind the scenes that excites us.

It was an absolutely fantastic and unmissable promotional opportunity that we are very lucky to have experienced and a big thanks to those who helped make this possible, both our staff and Prima's.

Links inbound for the online stores:

Amazon UK

Amazon US

Amazon Canada

Barnes & Noble (US)

Random House (Canada)

Random House (US)

Play-Asia (international)

Oh, and keep your eyes open in a few hours because there might be a little (and by little, we mean mahoosive) competition to celebrate our 3rd birthday (today). Go us! I'll leave you with some photos of the ever-so-awesome guide books.

@ 4 - we proofed this and prepared the content from our site :P

@ 5 - some people want a tangible, physical copy of the guides because they don't game next to the computer or have a printer.

@ 6 - it varies, but the RRP is $14.99 (US), $16.95 (Canada) and £7.99 (UK)

Curious...for online achieves that require boosting to get quickly/efficiently, do you put the link of the boosting thread on this site? Do you explain what boosting is in the book? Or do you simply try to guide them to getting the achievement without boosting? Just a simple question.

Unfortunately not JC, although if we get the opportunity to do another one, that's one thing we'd like to include.

@ chewy - there are internet links throughout the book to the boosting threads if its required, but not many.

Sunday, February 08, 2009 @ 03:49:22 PM

Though this is quite an achievement, I personally like the site better, as the book lacks the interactivity the website has and so I won't get it, prefering to donate directly to you guys. Either way, good job.

Sunday, February 08, 2009 @ 04:17:02 PM

I bought this weeks ago, and I keep it on my bookshelf just in case I need it. It's exactly the same as the guides found here, updated to include most of the recent updates on the site. It's very well-constructed, and is broken down into the types of games, such as sandbox, superhero, fps, etc. However, in each of these categories, the games are NOT in alphabetical order. Still a good buy. I easily dropped the $15 for it, because I saw that it was the guides from this site, and instantly knew that whoever made the guides knew what he/she was talking about. Easily worth the cash.

Sunday, February 08, 2009 @ 04:20:59 PM

When I said "easily dropped the cash" that should've been "quickly dropped the cash", not to sound loaded or conceited or anything...didn't catch it until I read over it again.

...simply put: IT'S A GOOD BUY!

Well done and congragulations for the birthday, X360A!

Hey, I saw the text "Halo 3 - all 1250" but hey, it isn't all! Totally Halo 3 has 1750G, remember? So when people buy this book in 2010 they'll notice that Halo 3 actually has 1750G. Hey by the way, where are the GoWs?

Overall though, the book seems really nice. I would probably buy it if it was sold here in the EU.

Hello, I would like to start by saying that Im a longtime user of the site but I just registered for the first time. I love the site and congrats on getting the book published. One question about the book. There is no refrence to viva pinata in the index or in this thread but the complete guide is in the book starting on page 123 with no indication whatsoever that its a viva pinata guide. An editing mistake im guessing?

Poll

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
