![]() | Learner's Permit | 5
| Defeat any vehicle in any mode. | |||
| You'll get this achievement the first time you play the game. All you have to do is destroy a car. You can total them if you like, or you can just let them idle, burn, and explode. | |||
![]() | Charge-Up Trainee | 5
| Fire 10 Charge-Up Attacks. | |||
| To fire a charge-up attack, all you need to do is hold down the weapon's fire button and watch the charge gauge to see what attack you're going to perform. Each weapon has 3 different charge-ups. Alternatively if you're feeling nostalgic you can use the classic button combos to fire them; the combos are all three directional button commands followed by the machine gun. Do not fire the weapon itself to charge it, you only need to shoot the machine gun after inputting the combo sequence. Bruiser Cannon: Cow Puncher - Down, Up, Down Buckshot - Down, Up, Up Ricochet - Down, Up, Right Bullseye Rockets: Road Runner - Up, Down, Down Stampede - Up, Down, Up Bastion Rockets - Up, Down, Right Interceptor Missiles: Halo Decoy - Up, Up, Down Afterburner - Up, Up, Up Missile Swarm - Up, Up, Down Sky Hammer Mortar: Turtle Turnover - Down, Down, Down Crater Maker - Down, Down, Up Tire Buster - Down, Down, Right Roadkill Mines: Bear Hug - Left, Right, Down Cactus Patch - Left, Right, Up Hovering Mines - Left, Right, Right | |||
![]() | Whammy Master | 10 | |
| Achieve 100 Whammies. | |||
| A "whammy" in this game is something you want, unlike Press Your Luck. To get a whammy you need to hit an opponent with two different weapons at the same time. This is most easily accomplished by firing the Bruiser Cannon and Bullseye Rockets at someone at the same time when they are directly in front of you. If your special is something that homes and hits several times such as Dave's Invasion or Beezwax's Swarm, then you can fire your special and follow-up with homing missiles. Each whammy drops two salvage points, which are handy for other achievements (see next achievement). | |||
![]() | Grease Monkey | 10 | |
| Collect enough Salvage Points to fully upgrade one vehicle. | |||
| Salvage points are dropped from vehicle wreckage, and depending on how good of a job you do, you'll get more or less points. For simply destroying a car you'll be awarded with four salvage points (and your enemy's weapons). However if you total an opponent you will get eight salvage points instead of four. Every whammy you land on an enemy will grant you two salvage points as well. You need 200 points to upgrade a vehicle. | |||
![]() | Quest: Unleaded | 10
| Complete single player Quest Mode on Easy mode. | |||
| "Quest Completion" achievements require that you beat Quest mode with all eight characters, not just one for each difficulty. Easy mode is a cakewalk and is a good introductory course to the drivers and their vehicles. | |||
![]() | Charge-Up Pro | 20 | |
| Fire 100 Charge-Up Attacks. | |||
| As you progress through the game you'll find that each weapon has a very handy charge-up and this achievement will be unlocked as you normally progress through the game. Very helpful charge-ups include the Afterburner (Interceptor Missiles), Crater Maker (Sky Hammer Mortar), and Road Runner (Bullseye Rockets). | |||
![]() | Total Pro | 20 | |
| Destroy 100 cars by 'totaling' them. | |||
| To "total" a car you must hit it with your special or with a charge-up attack when the vehicle is stalled and burning (with the horn going off). You only get a few seconds to perform this attack so if you have a slow firing special or a clumsy one to attack with (such as Molo's) the best plan of attack is to fire off a quick Cow Puncher (Bruiser Cannon) or Road Runner (Bullseye Rockets) charge-up. Totaling an enemy also grants you eight salvage points which is useful for the "Grease Monkey" and "Top Mechanic" achievements. | |||
![]() | Alien Contact | 20 | |
| Collect all 100 'Alien' icons in single player to unlock a secret craft. | |||
| There are five arenas and each arena has 20 alien tokens on them. You can get these during Quest mode if you like, but if you want to get them at your own leisure I suggest doing this in Free Wheelin' mode so there are no enemies and you can quit once you've found all of the icons. My advice to you is to BREAK EVERYTHING. If it's breakable shoot it. Shoot it until it explodes. If you shoot at something and it makes a metallic "clank" sound then it hasn't been destroyed yet. Start with the obvious things first such as large buildings and other properties and work your way down, especially fences. Below are some tips for specific levels. Oil Fields: A lot of icons are sitting inside of the oil drillers and the tall metal pipe structures. Some of them are inside of road signs too, so do not miss these along with the cacti as they are easily overlooked. Ski Resort: This one is a pain because there's a lot to break including small trees and rocks. The trees that don't break but drop snow do not have any icons in them so you can ignore them. Take note of the snow blowers at the top of the mountain, it is easy to miss them and they contain icons. Be sure to hit the slalom gates as well and don't forget to break fences. Meteor Crater: This one will take a while only because the last few are hiding inside the small shrubs. There is not a lot to break so this level doesn't require a lot of exploration. Also note that you can break the tunnels and also the two sides of the gas station (the middle turns into a ramp). You can also destroy the meteor, which doesn't release a giant bug like in the original but teleports you to a place with special weapons. Hoover Dam: This level features some very curious platforms you can hide on. There's a lot to break but only focus on the electric generators, the buildings on the dam, the rocks, and the fences. You can drop from the dam itself onto some platforms that have more electrical equipment, there is an alien icon on each side. Remember not to be too close to the explosions as they will hurt you. Farmlands: Most of the icons are quietly sitting inside of the watering machines and other small buildings. The tricky part comes with the ones hiding in the fields of trees. Your best bet is to enter this level with the Jefferson (John Torque) and use his Bass Quake special to take out a lot of trees at once. | |||
![]() | Quest: Super Unleaded | 20
| Complete single player Quest Mode on Medium mode. | |||
| "Quest Completion" achievements require that you beat Quest mode with all eight characters, not just one for each difficulty. Medium mode is noticeably harder than Easy, but not overwhelming enough to put off inexperienced players. | |||
![]() | King O' Online | 20 | |
| Win 10 online multiplayer battles. | |||
| To win a battle you simply must end the round with the most kills. You can join any public game, or if you like you can get together with your boosting buddies. | |||
![]() | Quest: High Octane | 30
| Complete single player Quest Mode on Hard mode. | |||
| "Quest Completion" achievements require that you beat Quest mode with all eight characters, not just one for each difficulty. Hard mode is only for Vigilante 8 veterans who know the best way to handle each car. There is not a lot of leeway for error so until you know what your chosen vehicle can and can't do, you should focus on other achievements instead. | |||
![]() | Top Mechanic | 30 | |
| Collect enough Salvage Points to fully upgrade all eight vehicles. | |||
| Each vehicle requires 200 points to be "fully upgraded". You can get points in Custom Battle mode, so the fastest way to get this is to choose a small arena (Oil Fields or Meteor Crater work), set the kill limit to 7, and select only Boogie ("Leprechaun") as your enemy as this car has the weakest armor out of the 8 vehicles. Simply ram or shoot him into oblivion and fire off a special weapon or a charge-up attack to total him and you'll be rewarded with 8 salvage points per kill. Alternatively you can also get whammies off of him and collect the points those attacks drop as well. Progress on this achievement is a great way to unlock "Total Pro" and "Whammy Master". | |||
