Flying Solo Achievement in Trine 2

Complete a whole level playing one character only

  • How to unlock Flying Solo

As it says, you will need to complete a level using only one character. You cannot switch to another character at any point during the level.

    • This will need to be done using Amadeus (fully upgraded will help but make sure you definitely have Monster Levitation).
    • This cannot be done in a CO-OP game.

This achievement is best done on Chapter 2. The hardest part of this level will be defeating the snake boss at the end. Once you enter the snakes lair conjure a box and use it to jump onto the supports above. Stand still for a few seconds until the snake lunges at you, jumping away at the last second. This will result in the snake destroying the support. Repeat until the cave collapses onto the snake.

The video below shows a complete walkthrough of Chapter 2 using Amadeus:

  • If you die while attempting this don't switch character or restart. Instead after dying choose return to last checkpoint from start menu. It will resurrect the character allowing you to continue. Achievement will still unlock at the end of the level.
  • That did not work for me. I did the first level with Amadeus only, and when I died I returned to the last checkpoint. That did not give me the achievement. The safest way to get this is to just not die on a level at all.
  • how do you get through the first level with only Amadeus if there are enemies to kill, and stone walls that require Pontius' hammer?
  • enemies can be crushed with crates or lifted via spellcraft, throwing them into spikes for instance. walls can be crushed by crates and stones, too.
  • thanks Erydan. i managed to do this on the forlorn wilderness level. probably the trickiest achievement in the game, but here's a good tip: every time you reach a new checkpoint, SAVE YOUR GAME in the main menu. That way, if you die, you can reboot the game and click "resume game" in the main menu to restart from your last checkpoint without having to switch character.
  • I just did this in the Forlorn Wilderness level with Amadeus. I found it helpful to confront enemies in front of the checkpoints whenever possible. This way your health gets replenished when you pass by it. Also, save often just in case! All in all I didn't find it all that difficult, just time consuming. It would probably be much easier (but I'm not sure if it's possible) with Zoya.
  • Couple of possibilities for why this may not pop. 1st time I died on the snake boss when he destroyed the last ledge to kill himself. Also on first time through, I went into the level up screen to put the powers at 4 boxes and enemy levitation. It did not pop my first try, but it did on my second try. I didn't go into the level up screen at all, and I didn't die on the last part of the boss. So, not sure which one screwed it up for me, but those are the only two ideas I came up with. Hopefully this helps someone else who might be wondering why it didn't pop when they tried it. (I never died the whole level on both playthroughs, so these are the only 2 differences that caused it not to pop for me)
  • Did the second level with the knight. It's not that difficult, but took about 3 or 4 tries. If I died by not paying attention to some things, I restarted the level from scratch (I should have tried to load last checkpoint as #1 suggest, but I thought it wouln't work that way).
  • I did this in 2nd level with Amadeus. I also died fighting the snake but started from the last checkpoint.
