Gameplay Help
· Vary your weapon loadout. The most effective weapons to have are an assault rifle, one crossbow, and the pistol. Also remember to use your clutch grenades, as these stick to the enemy, and guarantee you an easy kill. Don't forget that each weapon has a primary and secondary fire feature.
· Take advantage of your suit. Your time powers are your best friend, and give you a huge advantage over the AI. The slow time power seemed to work the best for me, as it drains the time bar fairly slowly, and still slows them down enough to pick them off with ease.
· Cover still exists! Your time bar won’t last forever, and there will be times when you need to play cheap. When you are truly overwhelmed by enemies, the best tactic is to get behind a piece of cover, quickly pop up and slow down time to dispatch a few goons.
· Perseverance. There are a few puzzles in this game which can be quite frustrating. They are not necessarily hard, but can spoil the gameplay if you get stuck on them for a while. The puzzles always involve you using your time powers, and the easiest option is pulling up a YouTube video, or reading through a walkthrough of the game.
Introduction
TimeShift is a fairly easy and straightforward game, and achievement-wise, has a variety of achievements which aren't too challenging, but are still fun to go for. There are no glitches to the game, and all achievements can be gained without any problems. It has been given a 3/10(With Boosting) because the campaign is very simple, even on the hardest difficulty, and all you need is one other person to gain all of the online achievements. It has an 8/10(Without Boosting) because the online population is dead, and there are usually less than five people online at peak hours.
Step 1 – Elite Difficulty
Elite difficulty is the hardest difficulty in the game, and is available right away. I highly recommend starting on this difficulty, as the achievements are stackable. When you complete each Act in the game on Elite difficulty, you will earn the respective achievements for Skilled and Casual difficulty as well.
Elite difficulty may sound a little intimidating, but once you get the feel of the controls, and get used to manipulating time, it becomes a cakewalk. At the end of this step, you should be on a minimum of 390. If you've followed the achievement guide thoroughly, you will probably have picked up some other miscellaneous achievements along the way.
There is also a set of achievements which require you to complete a level without dying, on each difficulty(Elite, Skilled and Casual). Note that it only says a level, not an entire act, making this achievement much easier than it sounds. I would suggest making good use of cover, and popping out while slowing down time. This seems to be the most effective method for taking enemies in the game out, so use it often!
Step 2 – Achievement Mop Up
There are a number of miscellaneous achievements in this game which you will get just by using your time powers, and generally experimenting with the game. These are all really simple, and the achievement guide details them all for you in excellent detail. Even the most casual of gamers will have no problem netting them, but there is one that you may miss called ‘All Fall Down’. For this achievement, you need to kill three enemies in one time stop. If you miss any of the achievements, then you can replay the levels and just net the last few. None require a lot of time or dedication, and can usually be done in less than ten minutes.
If you have gotten to this point of the Roadmap, and are still missing single-player achievements, then don't worry. None of the game's achievements are missable, as you can just use the replay level feature to net any campaign related achievements.
Step 3 – Multiplayer + DLC Achievements
All of the multiplayer achievements in this game can be achieved with just one other person, and they shouldn't take more than six hours for both players to achieve them all. If you cannot find a friend to help boost all of these achievements with, you'll want to check out the achievement thread, which you can find either at the top of this Road Map, or right HERE. The only achievement which may take a while is ‘TimeShift Champion’, in which you need to gain 100 multiplayer wins. This won’t take very long at all, but it is one of the longest achievements in the game. After boosting all the other achievements, you should have around 10-20 wins. From there, set up a 1v1 match with insta-kill on, and play on the Rooftops map. Each win should take around 20 seconds, including loading time.
The DLC related achievements are all in the same vein as the regular online achievements, and are nothing special. They require you to do several achievements similar to the original 1k achievements, but on the DLC maps. Assuming that you have been sticking to this Roadmap, you should have all the achievements in the game, except for one, and have 1235 .
It is also helpful if you keep rotating maps when you are going for different achievements or your previous game has ended, as ‘The Anytime, Any Place’, ‘DLC 1 Expert’ and ‘DLC 2 Expert’ achievements all require you to win on every map. These maps include the ones that shipped with the game, and the ones that are tied in to each DLC package.
Step 4 – Very Gracious Achievement
For this achievement, you need to leave your Xbox 360 on for a total of 48 hours. You do not actually need to do anything, except start a dedicated server, and leave your Xbox for two days. This is the reason why the game will take a minimum of 48 hours to obtain all of the gamerscore. See the achievement guide for more details regarding it.
Conclusion
Timeshift is not a hard game to complete, so long as you're willing. With the proper use of your time powers, and cover, no enemies will pose a threat to you, even on Elite. Even the multiplayer achievements in the game aren't hard, provided you have a good boosting partner.
