  • How to unlock Mystery Man

The “Mystery Man” challenge requires you to find and defeat the character named “Q” in arcade mode. Difficulty doesn't matter here, so change the difficulty to one star in the options/settings if you like.

You can fight him if you fulfill the following requirements by the time you've reached Stage 7 or 8.

    Don't lose any round.
    Don't continue.
Get a grade of at least a D or better on every stage.
Get 2 or more Special Points.
    Get 5 Super Finishes

If you've done it all Q will appear after your last fight. If you are in danger of losing a round, you can hit start on a second controller to save yourself.

Also try turning off "guard" in the dip switches. This'll make it so you can't block, and neither can the opponent. From there you can just splatter them by spamming moves and you'll be fighting Q in no time.

  • This will likely be fight/defeat Q in Arcade Mode which can be accomplished by not losing any rounds in the first 8 matches.
  • A really easy way to get this one is to go into the dip switches and turn off guarding (blocking). The CPU isn't very aggressive and without them able to block it's easy to corner and destroy them by spamming moves (spin kicks from Akuma, Ryu, Ken, for example work really well.) I did it on easy and the achievement popped up but I noticed I wasn't getting some progress in other challenges. Might be the dip switch or the difficulty change; not sure.
  • I have tried this several times to no avail, anybody have a confirmed way of this working?
  • For some reason I couldn't change my options to 1 round, 1 star difficulty, or anything. Anyway, you have to beat your first 8 opponents without dropping a round. You also have to finish a minimum of 5 rounds with a super art. Lastly, you have to have a D ranking or better on each match. Once you get to Q, it's okay to drop a round as long as you beat him.
  • Are you allowed to use Gill for this if you earned/bought him?
  • From Kao Megura (RIP, used to write the best fighting game FAQs ever) - Don't lose any rounds. (Obviously, no continues either) - Get a grade of at least a D or better on every stage. - Get 2 or more Special Points. (You get SP by getting 1 grade BETTER than the previous grade. So if you constantly go from C, B, A, A+, A++, S, S+, S++ then you will continue to accumulate SP points. However, if you go MSF, XS++, XS+ and downward, then you get NO SP.) - 5 Super Round finishes (in 3-round mode) After the Basketball/Parry bonus stage, defeat your opponent while maintaining that criteria. Q will then appear. If you lose to him, you will not be able to rematch him after a continue. Note that you do not get Super Art Finishes if you kill your opponent with the actual super itself. Fo
  • Oops, typo and I got cut off. You actually have to kill your opponent with the actual super. Killing them with a followup combo (like after Ryu's Denjin or Makoto's Abare Tosanami) won't count as a Super Art Finish.
  • For the special points does it count if you go from D to a C grade, then on your third match you get another D and then a C grade on your fourth match? Anyone know?
  • can't you unlock it playing online against a player who choosed "Q"?
  • It's a lot easier if you turn off "guard" in the dip switches. This way, you and your opponent can't block. Win all rounds and remember to make Super finishes, if you lose a round, no problem. Just press Start using a second controller while the match is 1x1 and you will have a new challenger. Beat player 2 and you will be able to choose your next opponent again, so that lost round will NOT count. =)
