I just won the event.. and then I went back and replayed the event and beat the high score on the leaderboard. But the achievement didn't unlock. What am I doing wrong?

Wish I could tell you. I beat the high score with a 28k run (second place was 23k) and it unlocked. First time at that event, though. My only suggestion is to try an event you haven't done in that week.
