You'll meet the technician in a short cutscene.
I had to come back and switch the game to the easiest
difficulty (just select a new game in campaign mode, you'll be able to replay
the levels which you've already finished) as he proved way too tough on hard.
Mind you, there are actually two of them; one deploys turrets, the other calls
in the mechs. The one without the rocket launcher, as far is I can recall,
is the one you're looking for. They're also named differently, but I do not
dare to translate back from the horribly localized german version. Also, though
the incoming mech is announced, the achievement voids not until it hits
the ground.
I used the knife to do it. |

I used the napalm machine gun and got this on medium difficulty. I finished him off
the second the mech touched down and still got it. |
