Introduction:

Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge is a very striaght forward Rugby game that offer very little challenge to complete even if you have never played a Rugby game before, this is due to the fact that you can simulate most parts of the game and the ones you can not simulate can be played with 2 controllers

Abbreviated Walkthrough:

Career and Competitions: 6 Achievements worth 360

The Career and all Competition wins can be simulated and will take around a couple of hours to do, with all competitions just choose the 8 highest rated teams in that competition to be your teams. Then select one of the last fixtures on the list and simulate to that game, then simulate the rest of the games and hope that one of your 8 teams wins the cup.

Career mode will take a bit longer and is best to choose New Zealand and simulate each game through to 2023.

Tutorial: 1 Achievement worth 30

You will need to complete all 28 mini tutorial games and this will give you some insight into how the game in controlled.

A tip here is to not get gold straight away, get silver if you can then get gold as you will earn more $ in the long run.

10 Single Matches: 11 Achievements worth 250

9 games on very easy and 1 game on Pro difficulty, also all of these achievements can be unlocked with 2 controllers.

You will probably get most the achievements within the first couple of games, but you need to play and win 10 matches with different teams.

I played the first game as Lomu All Stars Vs England, then 9 random teams and won those games.

Grinding and finishing single player: 4 Achievements worth 195

There are a couple of easy achievements watch the credits, create a player.

Now you will need to simulate another international career or play out many more games until your Rugby Dollars reach $100,000 once you have got this then you can go and purchase Team Lomu for the final achievement.

Multiplayer: 2 Achievements worth 165

These can be boosted by finding a boosting partner here, and you will only need to complete 50 games NOT win them.

They can be Private, Ranked or a mix of each.

Mop-Up:

Any achievements that you have not gained by now can be achieved in single matches.

Conclusion:

A very straight forward and easy 1000 which is not going to live long in the memory.

[x360a would like to thank JB x360a for this Roadmap]

There are 24 achievements with a total of 1000 points

  • Complete 25 online matches

    See “Online Captain” for details.

  • Complete 50 online matches

Just need to complete 50 games online, set to 5 minutes and each game must be finished you cannot quit out. You can try to find a boosting partner here.

The online is as you can imagine is not a massive hive of activity.

  • Win 60% of lineouts in a match that aren't thrown by your team

Your opponent will get a lineout when you kick or run the ball out of touch, when they then throw the ball into play each team can contest to win the lineout by pressing In theory you need to win at least 2/3, 3/4 of these once you have over 60% try and make sure you keep the ball in play for the rest of the game.

This seems a touch glithcy, and the only way I got it to unlock was by playing as Lomu All Stars VS Germany, Very Easy, I won the first 3 lineouts as Lomu’s team, then let them win 2 so that i was at exactly 60% (3/5).

  • Win the World Championship Competition without losing or drawing a match

All of the “Win X Competition or Cup” achievements can be simulated to save time and effort.

Simply go to start the competition and select the best 8 teams in that competition to be controlled by yourself, and then simply simulate to the end of the competition or cup. To Simulate a match instead of playing go down to simulate and press or in some competitions you can go to fixtures and then find the last one and simulate to this, also to save time if your squad line up needs to be changed then you can press and this will be done for you.

99% of the time one of you 8 teams will win the competition and the achievement will unlock just make sure that after the group stages at least some of your 8 teams have not lost or drawn any games.

Obviously if you want to you can play and win the tournament by finishing each match.

The best 8 teams in this competition are:

Australia, England, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa and Wales.

  • Maintain Over 60% possession in a match

Possession is how much you have the ball in your hand during the game.

Set the match to 5 Minutes, very easy and then if you have kick off make sure you win the ball back as soon as you can, then keep it for the rest of the half, you do not need to score just keep running with the ball. In the half when your opponent kicks off just catch the ball and keep it for the whole half.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • Maintain over 60% territory in a match

Territory is how much time you spend in the opponents half during the game.

This can be done at the same time as “Possessed” just make sure the ball spends most of the time in the opponents half and does not come into your half.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • The ref calls one red card against you

You can change some of the settings in the options menu to help with this, set high tackle frequency up and then every tackle you make should be made with and when you get a nice high dangerous tackle the ref should sent someone off.

See “Played for Our Sins” for more details.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • Do not concede more than 2 penalties in a single match

Set the match to 5 minutes, very easy and do not tackle with , and when the ball is in the ruck be careful not to press too much.

A penalty is given for a range of offences, and will result in the opponent having a kick at goal, a scrum, tapping the ball and running or kicking to touch. Penalties are not awarded for knock on’s.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • Make a try-scoring run which starts within your own in-goal area

    (3)

Make sure you set the difficulty to very easy.

It appears this achievement is a touch glitchy, but the way I done it was to pass the ball over the line to a player who was already standing inside my own in goal area, then run like the wind with that player, do not pass the ball just keep running, do not get taken to the floor just keep running and score a try. If you get tackled you can tap to try and break the tackle.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • Score a conversion on pro difficulty

You will need to set the difficulty to Pro, when you select the teams by pressing , To get a chance to take a conversion you will need to score a try preferably right under the posts. The only difference when kicking on Pro difficulty is that you have a smaller area to stop the marker in and it moves a lot quicker.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • Win 10 matches, each as a different team

Just play and win 10 matches with different teams, I used a mix of International teams and clubs sides.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • Win a match with 2 players sent off

You can change some of the settings in the options menu to help with this, set high tackle frequency up and then every tackle you make should be made with and when you get a nice high dangerous tackle the ref should sent someone off.

There are 2 good ideas to get this done and they can be found here, or here.

  • Break through a full back with Jonah Lomu

Play as Lomu All Stars Vs England on Very easy and give the ball to Lomu, you will probably get this while going for “Oh The Memories” when you run at a player after contact tap to break through the tackle.

This can also be done with 2 controllers

  • Win the ITM Cup Competition

All of the “Win X Competition or Cup” achievements can be simulated to save time and effort.

Simply go to start the competition and select the best 8 teams in that competition to be controlled by yourself, and then simply simulate to the end of the competition or cup. To Simulate a match instead of playing go down to simulate and press or in some competitions you can go to fixtures and then find the last one and simulate to this, also to save time if your squad line up needs to be changed then you can press and this will be done for you.

99% of the time one of you 8 teams will win the competition and the achievement will unlock.

Obviously if you want to you can play and win the tournament by finishing each match.

  • Win the Rugby 15 Competition

  • Win the Quad Nations Competition

Simply go to start the competition and select the best 8 teams in that competition to be controlled by yourself, and then simply simulate to the end of the competition or cup. To Simulate a match instead of playing go down to simulate and press or in some competitions you can go to fixtures and then find the last one and simulate to this, also to save time if your squad line up needs to be changed then you can press and this will be done for you.

Obviously if you want to you can play and win the tournament by finishing each match.

  • Complete Career Mode

This can be simulated and will save you huge amounts of time and effort, start a new career, then select International, Very Easy, 5 Minutes. We will be New Zealand.

New Zealand will play every year in the Quad Nations, which is 6 Simulated matches.

New Zealand will play in the World Championship every 4 years and this will take a bit longer to simulate.

You will play until 2023 and it will be 4 World Champs and 12 Quad Nations.

  • Collect $100,000 Rugby Dollars

You will earn "Rugby Dollars" for most things you do in the game Tutorials, Matches and Career mode.

This will take a bit of grinding out, but I would leave it until you have completed everything else so that you know exactly how much you need.

After you have simulated your career ($17,000) and all the Tutorials ($45,000) and played and won 10 matches ($5,000) you should have around ($77,000).

To grind the last $23,000 you can either play another 46 games or simulate through another career and a little bit, which is quicker than playing.

One small tip here is when doing the tutorials if you earn silver medal, then retry and get gold you will earn more Dollars.

  • Get gold medals in every tutorial

This is found in training and the tutorials, there are 4 sections each containing 7 drills which you must get gold on. Some have times to beat which is in the top right corner and some I think you get gold just for doing what you are told to do.

One small tip here is when doing the tutorials if you earn silver medal, then retry and get gold you will earn more Dollars.

  • Create and save a custom player

From the main menu go down to customise, then create player and press to save the player.
