Spoiler Alert:

After you visit and complete Storm Island, talk to Eldric. Visit each port. When you arrive at a destination, talk to Eldric first to find out if gargolyes are present. Follow advise. Return to ship talk to Eldric again and then go to next destination. Make sure you visit Isle of the Dead and Caldera. Although there are no gargoyles there they count toward the locations you need to explore.
