    Killed 2000 monsters

  • How to unlock Big Game Hunter

This, along with All-Rounder, is one of the two big time-consuming, grinding achievements. You have to kill 2000 monsters across all playthroughs; note you do not have to save the game, as all kills will stack. If you really want to grind this out in one location, a good place to do it is at the entrance to the Water Temple, as there are at least half a dozen enemies at the entrance, and you have your entire crew to help. Another good spot to do this is at the end boss, as she will periodically spawn anywhere from 3-10 enemies. Just don't kill her and wait for her to spawn her henchmen, then kill them.

To give you an idea of how long it will take, I had around 800 kills after doing all the other achievements through 1 1/2 playthroughs. Took about 8-12 hours to grind the rest out.

  • Well there is a easy way to do this I believe but not sure if it will do it or not as it works for the gold achievement ok just save the game where you think there are easy kills say like you know where like 10 sandevils are kill them reload the save and redo it will be MAJORLY BORING but if your a major achievo lover then well try this because I swear its gonna take like 3 playthroughs to get 2000 as its taken me 3/4 of one playthrough to get 500 kills achievement, so doing this (if it works) will be alot faster saves like another 40 hours of playing the game, but like I said if the 100000/300000 comment that I posted works I dont see why this wont but Im not gonna try this theory of mine because I cant be bothered.
  • + If anyone can think where there might be easy monsters to kill just post it down only place I can think that has at least 10 or more easy kill monsters is just by the Pirates Gate little to the east of there where theres like Monkeys and Warthogs not sure how many there are.
  • Another place that is a little harder is Storm Island. In the beginning you face about 10 Sunken Ones on the path and beach. There is also 1 Gargoyle and 4-5 Sand Devils. Dispatch them all, reload, rinse and repeat.
  • Best way to get this is go through the game nice and slow, Search all the islands and kill everything you can, im pretty sure monsters respawn after a set amount of in game days, Im well over 1000 kills on my 1st play through and you need 2 play thoughs for the full 1000G. Dont waste your time killing a few then reloading its not worth the time and effort.
  • The only place to "farm" for this achievement(2000 monsters) is Storm Island since it is loaded with Mara's monsters (killing animals, pirates, natives do not count). There are 12-14 Sunken Ones on the Beach, plus 7 sand Devils and 1 giant crab. Going up to the Air Temple you will kill 14 Gargolyle, eight Cave Bats and some 4-5 more sand devils. Inside the Air Temple are two more Gargolyes and if you have a Monkey and play Tomb Raider, there are 2 ghouls in the hidden vault. It will take around 30-45 mins to play if you don't talk to anyone. Reload your save and repeat. It's a slow grind and this is an obnoxious cheevo!
  • How do you check your kill count? I have not been able to find were that is yet!
  • Storm Island is the place to grind out this shitty achievement. With good combat skills (near end game character) you can clear the beach and then the path up to the Air temple killing everything in the way in under 10 minutes. There are 30-35 monsters (sand devils, sunken ones, gargoyles & cave bats) on the route. Save, re-load and repeat. This method definitely works - I just popped the achievement using it. For me this ridiculous achievement ruined an otherwise good game.
  • Do the monsters on Storm Island respawn or not? ... I'm suspecting not, at least for the Gargoyles, since there is a quest to eliminate them 'n all. v_v; Two playthroughs and I've emptied out Storm Island pretty quickly every time.
  • Well, I restarted from a WAY earlier save back on the Sword Coast, went through the game again. Made sure to side with the Inquisition to get muskets (and Venturo), dropped by Caldera to get the best Musket skills and clothing, went to Maracai Coast to get Corrientes' Thunderstick (is there a better musket than that?) and Silver Iron (and Bones's toughness skills)... and Antigua to finish off Soul Caller and get the Hangman's Noose. Also stocked up on as many bullets as I could buy. THEN I got to work on Eldric's little quests on Antigua. Cleared the island. Unlocked Storm Island again. Dropped Eldric off on the island then went back for Venturo (is there a better companion?) ... Since then I've been doing runs of Storm Island from base to top, dual-musket style with Venturo... Ain't
  • ... well bugger. Character cut-off limit.
  • Each run... 10 Sunken Ones (or 9 if one vanishes). 7 Sand Flea Thingies (or 6 if Crouse killsteals one) 14 Gargoyles (2 are trapped inside the temple, sometimes one is kill-stolen by Crouse) 6 Cave Bats... I don't fight the descending Giant Crab of the sky, nor the extra Sunken One in the deep depths of the water channel on its own. So each round accounts for 37 monsters. 2000 needed total... makes for a total of 54 and a bit runs (assuming nothing else killed in the game and no Crouse kill-stealing)...
  • Wait... I miscalculated. There are 8 Cave Bats... so 39 monsters per run... so ... 52 runs? ... Not much difference.
