I was doing quite well but ran out of ammo and ended up finding a granade and it managed to kill it. Easy with infinite ammo should do the job when mopping up these last few although I will give it another go when I do my pro playthrough but if miss it again I will just do it the easy way :) Man these chapters are long, still only on chapter 2. Chapter 1 took 1 hour 59min. Although when I quit it took me back quite far regardless of whether it checkpointed. So ended up playing prob about 20-30min of gameplay twice over the 2 or 3 times I quit and started later

I prepared the shotgun just before I placed the statues on the pillars which starts the cut scene where the boss shows up. I immediately armed an incinerary grenade and hit him repeatedly with them until he dropped then ran over to him and shot him about 5 times with the shotgun when he was on the ground. The women run to the back corner of the church so if you can get him to drop before he goes back there you are good. There are 3 women 2 Brunettes one has a ponytail, one has short hair and a blond gal; you only have to save 2 of the 3. If he sprays once you can still be safe but not more then once. If you think he infected them restart at last checkpoint and keep trying. Not impossible just frustrating

I went back after beating Leon's campaign and emptied three clips from the assault rifle into the monster and done. Of course I did this one on the easiest setting, so it felt a lot easier than doing it on professional like the first time.

I'm currently playing on Pro and was trying to wrap up mics achievements and it seems impossible to complete this either without a magnum or playing it on non-pro.

The monster climbed up to the second level chasing people so I sniped it a few times. It then started chasing me so I ran to the open door and hit it with the shotgun when it was in range. Only survivors were two girls so I guess I got lucky.
