Introduction
Narco Terror is a (mainly) top-down, twin stick shooter with some other Galaga-type elements that help mix up the game play beyond just blowing things up on the ground. You will also blow things up in the sky, and on the water over the course of the three vehicle minigames that act as transitions between certain areas of the game. The entirety of Narco Terror basically involves a special DEA agent killing people, blowing stuff up, and dishing out all around mayhem while he hunts down the leader of a drug cartel, who also happens to be the man who kidnapped his daughter. You can upgrade your standard arsenal to better fit your needs as you progress through the game, resulting in the creation of the ultimate killing machine.
Playthrough 1 (Either difficulty):
If you feel confident with shooters like this, you can start on Hardcore to save yourself a playthrough (it's not overly difficult), or you can do two runs and use your Casual weapons to make Hardcore easier for you. The achievements stack, so the goal of this run will be It's Done and/or Hardcore, for beating any difficulty and hardcore respectively. Right off the bat you can get a very easy achievement if you have a second controller, or a friend on live who you can play with for 5 minutes to get BFFs. From the very first mission you will want to start looking for collectible money pickups scattered throughout the game (2 per mission, a guide is included below), for an achievement at 5 collectables - Starting a collection - and one for all of the collectables; The Collector. During the first mission in the game, you should be able to get a number of achievements: Don't Get Close, for melee killing 10 enemies, Pieces of you, by destroying 6 enemies with a single grenade, Some Like it Hot, for destroying 20 enemies with grenades total, Upgrade, for upgrading a weapon, A Taste of Blood for killing 150 enemies and finally Warm Up for completing the level. During your playthrough, you will want to be sure to pick up all of the special weapons, use all of the various ammo types, as well as all of your primary weapons for The Specialist. You will want to destroy every vehicle you see in the game, both for the destroy 50 vehicles achievement (I hope you have insurance) and because they give you tons of money for A Fistful of Dollars, which requires you to get $15,000, which you need to do anyway to upgrade all of your weapons for Fully Upgraded. Aside from the collectibles, the one achievement you may have to go out of your way for is Invincible, which you can unlock by finishing a vehicle minigame without getting hit, and can be achieved as early as mission 2. Other than that, getting 3,000 kills for Unpopular, finishing certain parts of the game for Welcome to the Jungle and Old Friends, and Bombing Run, for destroying 5 ground enemies with your aircraft, will all come naturally.
Playthrough 2 (if needed)/clean up:
After the first playthrough, you will either need to do a hardcore run now, or just finishing upgrading your weapons and farming for money. Follow my tips for Hardcore and/or A Fistful of Dollars, depending on your situation.
