Destiny Dominated Achievement in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

  • Destiny Dominated

    100

You have won the game on Hard difficulty.

  • How to unlock Destiny Dominated

Simply play through the game on the hard difficulty to get this achievement. Switching the difficulty via the menu before the final battle will not unlock the achievement, so you must play through the whole game on hard. You can choose your difficulty when you start a new game.

Note: Be aware that the achievement takes over 30 seconds to unlock, so don't freak out when you finish the game and nothing happens right away!

  • Does anyone know if you have to play the game all the way through on hard to get this? Or can I just change the difficulty near the end? I've got an open question on StackExchange if someone wants to assist: http://gaming.stackexchange.com/q/50094/13845
  • I would really like to know this, too. I spent forever customizing my character, and then played about 4 hours with 'em. I'm gonna be seriously annoyed if I have to start all over again (or play this reportedly long game a second time) in order to 1000 it.
  • I dont actually have the answer to your question but considering the achievement is 100g and this game is not that difficult on hard (just grind like you would any other RPG) I think its safe to assume you have to beat the game all the way through on the Hard. Which is what you should be doing anyway.
  • I have already put in 4 hours before i saw this achievement, I really hope that I dont have to start over.
  • You're more than likely going to have to restart. I started a game on hard and tried to change difficulties and a message asks you to confirmed the change because it might void some achievements, probably talking about this one...
  • You WILL have to start over if you didn't pick Hard difficulty when you started your game or changed the difficulty while playing. A warning message appear when you are trying to change from Hard to any other difficulty saying the generic "You will not be able to unlock some achievement if you (...)".
  • Wow this make me piss i was playing on normal for almost 30 hour now Why did they have to hide this achievement only if i know that I'll just start with Hard difficulty from the beginning.
  • Man up and finish the game on hard, you will feel rewarded when the achievement worth 100G unlocks.
  • I'm told you only have to play the main storyline to get this achievement any truth in this guys?
  • ^ SERIOUSLY!? Yes... in order to complete any game you would be required to finish the main storyline... nothing more... nothing less...
  • Considering, when you try to change the difficulty, it says "Changing the difficulty setting may make you unable to get certain achievements.", I'm pretty sure you have to do the whole game on hard. Just a guess.
  • When you die a lot, like trying to open a warded chest that kills you if you screw up, the dialog that pops up offering to lower the difficulty defaults to Yes. If you aren't careful, you WILL lower the difficulty and, probably, ruin your Hard run. Lucky for me I don't care since I'm playing on Normal...
  • Lol well I had planned on at LEAST two playthroughs (one with a female character and one as a male), so this doesn't really bother me. And considering I'm over 40 hours into the game on normal and just now seeing what the secret achievements are, I'm not restarting right now. Lovin' this game though, so I have no issue with playing it again.
  • ^ yup thats the plan. I actually want to to play through it twice. Considering the very different skill builds and weapon builds you can do, Im actually looking forward to trying out new weapons in a whole new playthrough :)
  • Should be very fun :D carnt wait prob do this on the second playthrough after i found my feet
  • you think you guys have got it hard i got a lvl 40 character and put almost 80 hours into it, got all achievements apart from this one and im kinda pissed that its a secret achievement, but i guess thts life >.<
  • to be fair though this game is great :3
  • Sadly hard mode really isn't very hard. Over 40hrs of play and I rarely if ever die from enemies.
  • "Hard" is a walk in the park.. my mage havent had a problem and im in the end of the game right now.
  • Hm... :P Makes me wonder if I should've played a warrior first time through.
  • I did the game on easy, got all the achievements and then played on Hard with a might character. So easy.
  • at least they cou;d of done a game +
  • Played it on easy because I wasn't sure if I would like this game. Saved right before the last boss and changed it to hard. Lol, it didn't work to pop the achievement. You will have to play it on hard the whole way through. Just make sure to use potions often and hard shouldn't be difficult at all. The last boss fight is a joke if you have maxed alchemy and make a few fate potions.
  • @22. No point, Hard is extremely easy anyway, and if you complete every quest, you will be level 40 (level cap) before the end of the game. A new game+ option would have no benefit.
  • @#1 I played on Normal discovered this achievement so switched to Hard, YOU DO NOT GET ACHIEVEMENT IF YOU SWITCH DIFFICULTY. You have to play through the entire game on hard to get this achievement.
  • I was playing through and accidentally switched the difficulty when prompted while fighting a boss but reverted to a previous save right after it happened... has this happened to anyone else and if so did the achievement still unlock?
  • I did that to by mistake... it better give me the achievement... or someone is going to die.
  • This game is so boring I do not see myself re-doing the game on hard just to get a final 100g achievement....You want a game worth playing thats cheaper than this go pick up the GOTY of Oblivion or even a copy of Skyrim. . . . As A HUGE RPG/Adventure gamer I found this game a 4/10 for lack of anything...There are side Quests that are more fun than this games main questline.... waste of 60$ pre-ordered
  • I too by mistake lowered the difficulty -.- i dashboarded straight away and loaded up a save from 2 minutes before the other one, checked the diffuclty and it said Hard. Im on the last mission now, if it doesn't unlock then someone is indeed going to die. Such a stupid prompt especially when A button is run i had it held down ready to run and bam the prompt comes up ad it lowers to normal, bloody Electronic Arseholes still yet to make a game that hasnt majorly pissed me off.
  • I can confirm that you still get the achievement if you did as I said in my above post.
  • EA didn't make KoA:R, they just published it.
  • The game isn't that brutal on Hard (you need to do a lot of side missions before tackling too many story or faction missions) and get comfortable with rolling and firing off magic.
  • Thanks for confirming @ #30
  • If one fears to not make it: enter an area as early as possible because the foes are area minimum->players current level (you are lvl x = foes are about max that level (or area max)) so when you go away to level and come back the foes are still the level when you enters first. But up to know i didnt need my own trick :)
  • it seems like the best thing to do is to do this on the hardest difficulty first, really looking forward to playing this game
  • I played 100 hours on normal. Gutted. Really wish I had done Hard from hte start. My character is slaughtering everything in her path.
  • But still, got this achievement last night with with my new character at level 22. The Warsworn Faction Quest was the only non-main story quest I did, and I only did it to level up some.
  • Anybody have an idea which destiny is best for this? also do alot of fateshift throught the game and collect the essence of fate from the enemy's you killed in the fateshift and at the end create abunch of fate potions and go on a fateshift frenzy while fighting tirnoch makes it alot easier to do this strategy
  • i was 80+ hours in over 180 side quests completed complete prismere armor set then i tried getting in to alabastra killed dude before story prompted me to kill him and couldnt complete had to start over after having teeth of naros and legend of dead kel complete
  • Only played the game for about an hour last night, glad i came on here to browse the achievements first! lol
  • I just beat the game about 5 mins ago. I changed the setting right before I started the final quest in the main plot to hard. After I beat everything I did not get the hard achievement. So from the looks of things, you have to play the entire game on hard to get it. So I just put 139:25 minutes into a game and now I have to play it all over again! So stupid. But hey just beating a game that requires this many hours is a feat all its own!
  • Is this game good? I wanna get it. It seems better than Fable (which I enjoy) but not as good as Skyrim (which I LOVED)
  • It's better than Fable and not as good as Skyrim. So...yes I suppose get it. I got mine for $20 on Black Friday and it was easily worth that. Might be disappointed with $40, but I thought it was far, far too easy, even on hard. Most people don't seem to agree with it being boring. You'll like it.
  • Hard really wasn't that challenging, there are certain points near the beginning where you may have a little difficulty(especially if you're like me and began your first play-through on hard). However, once you reach Mel Senshir the game isn't that difficult; especially now that you have decent spells/abilities to use. Near end game I actually found myself to just sticking with Hard(except for two quests dealing with factions), since most of the enemies seem to die quite easily otherwise.
  • just complted this as lvl 22...easy at some points...now to get that damn achivo popped
