  • How to unlock Cleared All Missions (Gold)

Simply completing each mission will give you the achievement corresponding to that mission, and if you can beat them all, you will get "Cleared All Missions (Bronze)”. If you wish to obtain “Cleared All Missions (Silver)” or “Cleared All Missions (Gold)” you will need to be connected to Xbox LIVE so you can obtain leaderboard information. For the Silver Achievement, you will need to be at least in the middle third of the leaderboard for all missions, and you will need to be in the top third for all missions for the Gold Achievement. You can clearly see what time you will need to achieve in each mission to obtain each achievement, as the leaderboard is colour coded: the bottom third is bronze, middle is silver, and top is gold. So, for instance, if you want to get Gold in one of the missions, and the last gold coloured spot on the leaderboard is 5 minutes, you will have to at least do better than that to take their spot.

The following advice will be greatly beneficial and will actually net you gold on most of the missions. Missions where you will need a different strategy or a bit more guidance will have that info under their individual completion achievements. In my opinion, you will need two things to get these done efficiently. First, you must master the maneuver described in “All Characters Completed (D)” that allows you to continuously attack without interruption. Second, you will need to create a custom character. Although you can use any of the default characters, I do not believe any of them have the appropriate stats to get you through with ease (I’m sure it can be done, but it will be difficult). To build the custom character you will need, you must first know two things. First, the manner in which you kill an opponent in a level decides how many points you get for the kill to spend on new moves. The most points are earned for performing a Kumitachi () to grab an opponent, draining their stamina, and then doing an Inashi ( again while grappling) to throw them into a wall, against a river, into a lantern, etc, and then performing an instant kill with either a vertical or horizontal attack. You will know that the attack will be a one hit kill if the arrow above the enemy's head turns red. These one hit kills will net you the most points possible. Second, the manner in which you kill bosses decides how many status orbs you obtain in each level. For each boss you defeat, you will receive two orbs. However, if you one hit kill the boss as described above, you will earn a third orb for defeating that boss. For our custom character, we will want the maximum number of orbs possible, which means you will have to one shot all eight normal bosses.

To build your custom character, pick Sasaki Kojiro in the main game on easy (difficulty doesn’t matter, and it’s easiest to max your stats on the easy setting). You will want to get maximum points on at least one or two levels to purchase the following moves in Stance I: Lightning, Up Swing, and Swallow Ctr. This combo has four hits and is the longest reaching combo I have seen in the game, which is a huge advantage. You will also want to make sure that during the first seven levels, you one shot each boss to earn the eight bonus orbs. You will want to spend your orbs so that you have maximum Health, Attack, and Defense, but no orbs in Stamina. The maneuver you will be using completely drains your Stamina so it will be empty during the entirety of every fight anyways. Once you’ve purchased the combo needed, I suggest practicing the maneuver during the rest of the levels so you are prepared for the missions, as they can all be easily beaten using this technique with very few exceptions, which are noted in their respective mission achievements.
