| Comment #25 by Soulreaper 1337 Thursday, September 16, 2010 @ 11:19:15 AM @20 all of the abilties are mute points on legendary Shield drop is the most valuable because it heals while you are in it but it only takes a few explosions for it to be destroyed (2 or 3 usually) and not only can enemies come in there but on occasion when you drop the shield a grenade or explosive round that was close will be in the shield when it opens up so it turns into a contained explosion with you in it |

So far i've finshed the first 4 missions and i'm going to try Tip Of The Spear tonight. So far tho, if you stay back a bit and pick people off and pick up head shot weapons it's fairly easy. Also Noble Team members are REALLY helpful. If you are having a hard time, stick close to them, use them as distractions and shields (they can't die). I love this game and this achievement. My girlfriend can beat the game on legendary when she's in the game with me, but she would cry if she attempted it on her own. It really separates the dedicated and solid players from the rest. Just overcharge it to take out their shields then soot them in the head with a head shot capable weapon (DMR, needle rifle, magnum or even the sniper). |

Brutes are another story, but all the same. The best tip I can pass down for hunters is to keep something like Armor Lock or Hologram with you. It's very possible to completely avoid a gunfight with Hologram armor skill. |

Sprinting can get you out of the room you're in and to an empty area of complete safety. The plasma pistol is invalueable. It makes any elite a 2 shot kill if you're practiced enough. Other tips: -Never let the marines drive, they're terrible -Avoid using gravity hammers and swords. As fun as they are, it's too much risk. -If you're playing a level with other spartans, let them do most of the work. -Killing priority goes Jackels, the fast Jackels, Grunts, Leaders. This may seem out of order but 20 small guys shooting is more deadly than 1 big guy. -Look for checkpoints af |

This is what I believe it's needed: Headshot - You need to have a quick and precise aim, always going for the headshot (DMR or Plasma Rifle recommended) Plasma Pistol - A charged blast will take down the shields of an Elite. Quickly change to your secondary weapon (a precision one) and one single bullet on the head will take him down. Patiente - Don't rush it. Play it safe and always try to take as much enemies from a distance as possible using a precise and ranged weapon. Armor Abilities - Choose them wisely. Bubble Shield is perhaps the most useful since it will give you cover for a brief time but most importantly you can use it as a med pack when you health is low. |

Getting this done, doesn't proof you have skill..., it just means that you are very patient..., at least its something good. |

The assault rifle sucks don't use it unless you can't help it but always try to keep a plasma pistol on you for the elites. Medpack is good but make sure you are a good distance from the enemy and behind cover. Use the cover as much as you can so you take the least amount of shots. Be strategic and use your Noble teammates for a distraction and flank the enemies. Also use the grenades as much as you can and aim the stickies for the elites only. It will at the least destroy their shields if not kill them. |

In ODST, it was learned that the jacals get headshot by their jaw usually(I observed it).If you have to confront a hunter then use any heavy weapons you got and stickies(I observed on Heroic in ODST that three stickies kill a hunter) and aim for their back only if you can. One more thing, know where the sword guys are and keep a GOOD distance from them or you die. |

I have to say that I didn't think it was any different from heroic until I hit the Long Night Of Solace Level. So many Elites. Everywhere. Surprisingly the bridge part of the level (inside the Corvette) didn't give me any problems. That was until the final Elite somehow managed to run back through the doors I came from and joined the rest waiting for me. That's when I started taking the whole affair more seriously. What can I say. Hologram/DMR/Plasma Pistol. They never stood a chance. It was extremely satisfying but it was in no way easy. I still think it is the way the campaign is meant to be played and my hats off to Bungie for giving us this much. For anyone currently attempting this I can only suggest the following. Range is key at all times unless you have nowhere to go (which is really rare). Preferable weapons are DMR/Needle Rifle/Sniper Rifle/Pistol. Keeping a Plasma Pistol on hand makes fights against Elites a whole lot easier. Some people say use sprint so you can just skip certain areas to avoid fighting but that approach won't always help. The pair in Nightfall (when defending Jun) despawn (don't know why) if you make your way towards the farthest section of the base area you are in.  | Comment #106 by Cambra Sunday, November 14, 2010 @ 03:53:36 AM Took me 4hours to do nightfall, i havent played halo since 2006 and thought i'd play reach and went straight to legendary, it makes you good, the DMR is the best to kill elites, next to the pistol (spartan pistol), you need to headshot 2-3 times in a row then when they stagger just shoot them one more time anywhere, the only problem is if you fire too many bullets you might have to die and do it again without missing, pistol works the same way just faster but slightly weaker, If you ever played WoW it's just like raiding hard modes, everytime you wipe/die it's progression until you learn to do it right. I went to multiplayer after doing this and got first place every time, and 85% of my kills were headshots with DMR/needle rifle, lol, but I suck with the actual sniper rifle, I think it's b |

My tips would be not to do it all in one day, just do 2 missions a day and I worked backwards from the pillar of autum to winter contigency to get the hardest mission out of the way. Just use plasma pistol and DMR on elites and they'll be dead in minutes. The only time is strategy doesn't work on elites is elite zealots. But however, you can just EMP them twice then headshot them with the DMR (thats what I did when theres 5 elite zealots at the end of pillar of autum) Just remember not to waste ammo take regular breakes and this achievement will be yours soon. |

Plasma Pistol then headshot for Elites, headshots for everything else. Make sure to always switch for new Plasma Pistols so you don't run out, as Elites tend to come in packs. Sprint is pretty much the only useful armor ability on solo Legendary, except on Exodus (Jetpack) and against Hunters (Hologram+Shotgun) Stay away from everything. You WILL get killed in only a couple of hits, even if you think it's safe. If a sticky grenade explodes anywhere near you, you will die in one hit. And for the love of god don't shoot the Hammer guy until all of his friends are dead. |

They are the most dangerous enemies in the game. Always kill them first. This will mean your reducing the amount of guns firing at you in the quickest possible time. 3) Use weapons you are comfortable with but don't be afraid to use weapons your not so good with if the situation demands it, if you switch to a power weapon stay close to the weapon you dropped for it and return to pick it up again, Some times it's worth leaving some rockets behind if you can take a full DMR ahead. Camping is vital as keeping a plasma pistol as a sidearm! always pick up a DMR even if you have rockets! and for the love of god! never! EVER! pick up the jet pack, it may as well be a big sign plastered on your chest that reads "SHOOT ME DOWN!" |

Yay for me! / It's about the hardest achievement I have ever tried to get, but then I suck at Xbox 360 FPS games :P Go slow, take your time and expect to play certain chapters again and again and again... If you find yourself overwhelmed with Elites and manage to kill one (like in the final battle on Pillar of Autumn before the big gun), run around and try to trigger a checkpoint, that way you don't have to kill the same Elites several times. I checkpointed all 4 Elites in that final area :D Good luck! |

As a secondary have a power weapon like rockets or fuel rods. If not using a power weapon use a needler, needle rifle, assault rifle, spiker or plasma pistol. Also look around you may find some extra power weapons. On Exodus there is a hidden sniper excellent for taking out brutes and jackal snipers. On Pillar of Autumn there is a hidden sniper and Spartan Laser both helpful for taking down ghosts and shades. Also stay back, pop in and out while taking shots, focus fire on one enemy at a time, stay out of vehicles, make good use of armor abilities, always try to have spare grenades, don’t ever rush an elite/brute/hunter, never let your guard down. I got to the part where there are 3 elite majors and I actually ended up getting Emile to kill them and then he even went on to kill the hunters for me what a pal. After that i was trying to weapon juggle and my DMR disappeared before the final fight,(I think Emile ate it.) so I ended up having to do the final fight without a DMR -_-* All in all, pretty fun and a great way to finish up my Halo Reach set. (until the next map pack that is...) |

Melee weapons arn't useless- is you use them only on single enemies on the final part of the last level i killed all the brutes (even the boss ones with fuel rod and plasma launcher) with a hammer i got off a chieftan and a sword. also sneak when you can and assassinate elites one by one the quick way to remain unseen. use every power weapon availble bar spartan laser except for shades |

Stay back, play smart, use noble teammates as bait, profit. Hardest parts for me personally were the elite-fest on the corvette, and the final brute-fest on the pillar of autumn. Ironically, after the brutes went down to clear the path for the landing, the 3 zealot elites took me AGES to kill with their friggin fuel rods and dual wield plasma rifles. Pillar of autumn level was the longest on legendary by far, took me almost 3 hours And for the hunters, always let my team mate take their attention and shotgun in the back when they are preoccupied. The level where theres the hunters in the flying level without a teammate, i rushed in and out without killing any of them :p |

For me, armor abilities pretty much saved my life. For example, if i didn't have active camo in nightfall or bubble shield in long night of solice i probably would not be able to get through the levels nearly as quickly. Also, the four elites at the end of the pillar of autumn (3 plasma rifle dual wielding zealots and one field marshall with a fuel rod gun and an energy sword, i think)can be easily killed but whacking them with a gravity hammer from the chieftain before. If they take notice of you, they will charge, so all you have to do is stay behind something so that they can't hit you and when they get close enough, hit them with it and they should die in two hits. |

| Comment #296 by niko da bos Wednesday, August 24, 2011 @ 10:21:45 AM personally found this much easier than halo2/3 legendary solo, just because we have all these armour abilities to abbuse. not to mention noble team has invincible plot armour, they can be stuck with nades over 100 times to no avail. no matter how much they beefed up elites, that EMP is still their biggest enemy. one short plasma pistol blast and a headshot with any precision weapon will make quick work of most enemies. the power weapons stashed all over each level also give you a huge advantage. and as always if you suck at halo, you can just speed-run thru like a wuss :P. and im pretty sure most people didnt even finish the last level on the mac cannon. they simply waited for the guy to say "take the shot!" then hopped on. i however, did not know about this trick :P |

This is implied in the guide itself too as it states that a single playthrough on Legendary will net you 440G (all the difficulty based achievements plus the mission completion ones). Also, check the speedrun videos for the missions on youtube - there are so many fights that can be avoided making even legendary relatively easy for some missions. |

Last level will take you around 2-3 hours. The very last part was fun. Make sure you have full health, hide on the stairs or under the gun, wait for them to say "now spartan", hop in, charge up, shoot, gg. Needler every chance you get on unshielded enemies, only 3 needles to blow up enemies with no shield. Make every single shot count. Good luck, so glad to join the few, but many with this achievement. :)Hope the next few halo games have achievements like this, as it's cakewalk on co-op. |

For some maps let the rest of noble team draw fire while you slowly pick off enemies. Son't run aimlessly into a firefight. For the latter levels, you will definitely want a plasma pistol with you at all times. Keep these tips in mind and you should breeze through it. |
