Introduction Welcome to ODST. Most of your time will be split between campaign, and the new firefight mode. Most of the achievements can be done in co-op, which will make them that much faster and easier to obtain.
There is 1 missable achievement, Good Samaritan, which requires you to complete the campaign without killing any engineers. These are the flying creatures you'll occasionally see above the Mombosa Streets. The first time you encounter one will be fairly early in the game, while in the Hub (Mombosa streets). A group of brutes will be holding it, and you'll hear one of them say "hold it still!" Do not kill any of these. Suicide/respawn if you do. Doing this will ensure you won't have to do a second playthrough. Naughty Naughty is for killing 10 engineers. This one unlocks as soon as you've killed the 10th engineer, so save this for after you've unlocked Good Samaritan.
Step 1: Campaign Start a campaign on Legendary difficulty. The difficulty achievements are stackable, so doing this will minimize the number of playthroughs needed. Co-op will make it much easier, and much faster. The campaign is fairly straight-forward, and shouldn't give you too much trouble. This should take you no more than 6 hours at the very most. Find some people in the achievement trading thread here. When you've completed the campaign on Legendary, you'll have unlocked 16 unmissable achievements, worth 620. IMPORTANT NOTES:
DO NOT change hosts, or any campaign settings, after you've started. This will reset everyone's current co-op campaign.
You must complete each mission from start to finish in one sitting in order to receive credit for achievements. DO NOT quit in the middle of a mission, and make sure no one leaves in the middle of a mission. It is safe to quit in the Hub.
Do not assume that you can simply choose "replay mission" and continue from there like in Halo 3. In ODST you find missions in the Hub, which is a free-roaming area, meaning you can do the missions in any order. So, if you choose replay mission, you'll have to replay any other missions you've already completed before you can complete the campaign.
Make sure no one kills any engineers. If one person kills an engineer, it counts for everyone within the party.
There is no auto-save. Be sure to hit start to save & quit/end game before you quit to dashboard, or turn off your console.
It can become messy, and confusing if you're not careful. To avoid any potential headaches, I recommend that you, and your co-op partners commit 4-6 hours to the campaign, and complete it in one sitting. 6 hours isn't too long. Much less if you've got more players, and players who know what they're doing. Step 2a: Audio Logs Save these for after you've completed the campaign. From the main menu, choose Campaign, and make sure you're doing it in a SOLO game. Choose Replay Mission -> Mombosa Streets. You'll be dropped into the Hub, and you'll be able to obtain all the first 29 audio logs from here. Use NOTswaggers map here. After you've collected the first 29 in the Hub, hit start, and choose SAVE & QUIT. From the lobby, choose Replay Mission -> Data Hive, and refer to the map above to find the last audio log.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. The reason why you should save these for after the campaign is that, you must complete certain missions before you'll be able to collect some of the audio logs. If you try to get them all before you've completed the campaign, you'll find many that aren't yet obtainable, and you'll have to come back to them later. You'll save some time by completing all the missions first, so that you can obtain all the audio logs in one go.
2. After you've completed the campaign, DO NOT attempt to collect all 30 audio logs in co-op. Any progress you make towards audio logs in co-op won't carry over to your single-player game. Also, the last audio log must be obtained in the Data Hive mission, and if you choose to end game in co-op, and then replay mission from the lobby, you'll erase your co-op data INCLUDING AUDIO LOGS. You've been warned. So make sure you do these in a solo game. You can save & quit in solo, then replay Data Hive, and your audio log progress will still be saved. Step 2b: Naughty Naughty, and My Clothes! While you're collecting audio logs, you should also be going for the Naughty Naughty achievement, for killing 10 engineers in the Hub. Use Mr.Smackdown's map here. If one explodes before you kill it, you can suicide/respawn. Even if you miss 1-2, you'll encounter quite a few more that aren't on this map, while looking for audio logs.
While we're in the Hub, doing that, this is also a good time to get the My Clothes! achievement. You'll encounter quite a few brutes that you're pretty much required to fight. Pick up a plasma pistol, charge it, and hit a brute so their armor comes off. Immediately switch to your automag, or any other gun capable of getting headshots, and pop it in the head. Do this 10 times.
Step 3: Weapon/Level Specific Achievements Now, it's time to go replay a few levels for the weapon/level specific achievements you may have missed during the campaign. Go to replay mission from the campaign lobby, and it'll only take a few minutes to do each one. Take note of the achievements listed below, and refer to the achievement guide for help, if you need it.
Dark Times
Boom, Headshot
Trading Down
Stunning!
Pink and Deadly
Ewww, Sticky
Both Tubes
Wraith Killer
Laser Blaster
Dome Inspector
I Like Fire
Headcase
Step 4: Firefight By now, you should be pretty familiar with the ins and outs of the game, making your run through firefight fairly easy. Again, you'll want to co-op to make these as fast, and easy as possible. Find some people in the Firefight Online Matches thread here. Start a firefight game, and go through each of the 8 maps (Crater and Rally can be done in either night or day), and play on normal difficulty. You should be able to earn 200,000 points within 40-60 minutes on each map. Refer to the achievement guide for more help.
Step 5: Vidmaster Challenges Vidmaster Challenge: Classic - Load Uplift Reserve, on Legendary difficulty. Grab the Warthog, drive past everything until you reach the Ghost. Grab the Ghost, and boost past everything you see until the end of the level. Should take about 10 minutes. Make sure you're connected to LIVE.
You CAN:
Skip cut-scenes
Splatter enemies
Boost on Ghosts
Die
Have a NPC gunner in the Warthog to kill enemies
You CANNOT:
Press AT ALL. This includes honking the horn with the Warthog.
Throw grenades
Powerslide with in the Warthog
Co-op
Quit mid-mission & resume
Vidmaster Challenge: Déjà Vu - Load Coastal Highway, invite your 3 co-op partners. Set the difficulty to Legendary, and turn the Iron skull on. Once you get on the highway, go down into the first underground passage to find 2 Mongooses, and 4 rocket launchers with 1000 rockets each. 2 people drive, 2 people blow stuff up. Easy. You'll die a lot, but there are more than enough checkpoints to keep you from getting frustrated. Like all other mission achievements, the mission must be done start to finish in one sitting. Do not quit & resume. If anyone drops out, you must start from the beginning of the mission. Should take about 1-2 hours.
Vidmaster Challenge: Endure - Load up firefight, and invite your 3 co-op partners. Set the difficulty to Heroic. You can do this on any stage. Most people recommend Alpha Site, or Lost Platoon. There is a good Lost Platoon guide here. And a good Alpha Site guide here. Pay special attention to the information on the bonus round to make this a lot easier. Should take 2-3 hours to complete the 4 sets.
Conclusion Hopefully, you'll have all the achievements by now. If not, refer to the achievement guide, and forums for more help.

Engineers are the slow moving, flying creatures that you encounter while playing as the Rookie in New Mombassa. You'll need to kill 10 for this achievement.
If you shoot the Engineers, you'll find yourself out of ammo very quickly. Instead, fire an over-charged plasma pistol shot at it. After a few seconds, the Engineer will explode.
It's recommended that you play through the game without killing any Engineers first for the Good Samaritan achievement. Once the campaign is complete, load up Mombassa Streets and hunt down the Engineers.
Refer to this map for the locations of the Engineers.
Note: This achievement is made much easier on Solo.
Audio Logs located in Mombassa Streets: 29 Audio Logs located in Data Hive: 1
Click here for a map of New Mombassa that details the locations of the 29 Audio Logs. Once you have the first 29, you'll have to play Data Hive and proceed through the level with the security guard.
Once you enter the area where he tells you to stay put and look out for hostiles, ignore him and follow him into the room. You'll find the 30th Audio Log on the wall to the left.
Be careful though, once you pick it up, the security guard will say that you know too much and turn hostile.
Notes:
Turn on your VISR and you'll be able to see the Audio Logs much easier; they are outlined with a yellow border.
Sirens, telephones and the voice of the Superintendent indicate that an Audio Log is nearby.
If you replay a level on co-op, you will lose all of your Audio Logs. This is why you should play on Solo.
While playing the ODST campaign, do not kill any of the Engineers. If you're playing co-op, tell your partners not to kill any either as this will jeopardize your chance of getting this achievement.
As long as you haven't killed any engineers, the achievement will unlock once you begin the mission, Data Hive.
On Kizingo Boulevard, you'll begin the level with a Rocket Launcher, but it will have very little ammo. Try and kill as many as the Covenant that appear in front of you with the rockets that you have available. If you run out of ammo and don't have the 10 kills, follow the video below for the location of a stash of ammo.
There are 6 working Wraiths in Uplift Reserve that you'll have to destroy for this achievement.
Proceed through the level normally, but when you see a Wraith, bring out the Spartan Laser that you start the level with and fire it at the Wraith. It should destroy it in one shot, but if it doesn't, fire again.
Repeat this procedure until you run out of Spartan Laser ammo. From there, you'll have to plant grenades in the Wraith's interior.
On ONI Alpha Site, you'll begin with a Spartan Laser with 100 ammo (10 shots). Shoot the Wraiths as you'll receive credit for three kills; once for the vehicle itself, one for the driver, and one for the turret guy. So basically, destroy 3 Wraiths and and kill 1 Brute and this achievement is yours.
When in the frosty area of Data Hive, you'll find a Flamethrower hidden in a corner. Turn on your VISR and you'll be able to see it much easier.
When you enter the next main area, you'll see many enemies including Drones, Jackals, and Brutes. Spray them with the Flamethrower and they'll burn to death. Kill 10 enemies with the Flamethrower and this achievement is yours.
When playing on NMPD HQ, use your pistol; it is great for getting headshots. Simply aim at the Grunt's heads and shoot.
This achievement should come very quickly as there are loads of Grunts around. Also, to make it even easier, turn on the Grunt Birthday Party skull; the children cheering will let you know that you've scored a headshot.
Quite simple this one, but you'll need to play with at least 1 more player in LIVE or Local. On the account that wants the achievement, hide in the corner of the room that you spawn; the enemies won't be able to get to you. The other play must then simply complete the round.
To make it even easier, play on Alpha Site on Easy.
Load up Uplift Reserve on Legendary and remember not to shoot, throw grenades or splatter any enemies. Proceed forward and jump in the Warthog, once you see the first ghost, jump in that, being careful of the nearby Wraiths and Choppers. Continue through the level, changing Ghost when you see one and picking up health if need be.
Level: Highway No. of Players: 4 Difficulty: Legendary Skulls that need to be on: Iron (Restart from previous checkpoint if a player dies) Other notes: Players are not to enter a Warthog or Scorpion Tank
Once the level has loaded, proceed forward and take out the enemies in this area, being careful of the watchtower. Have 1 person walk up the stairs to the left and they'll find a Sniper Rifle which will come in very hand. Have everyone else take the left route as there is a Rocket Launcher and health at the end of this corridor. Once all of the enemies are dead continue forward until you reach a dead end; Virgil will open the door for you.
Once on the highway, walk down underground and you'll find 2 Mongeese and 4 Rocket Launchers with 998 ammo each. Pick these up as they'll come in very handy. Continue down the highway, killing enemies while protecting Dare and Virgil.
When the drones appear, stay back and use your Pistol or SMG to take them out. Oh, and jump off you Mongoose as it'll make taking out the Drones much easier.
Once you reach the final area where you fight a few waves of enemies, stay on the high ground and shoot your rockets at the ground where the enemies land. When you and your teammates enter the Phantom, the achievement will unlock.
Map: Lost Platoon No. of players required: 4 Difficulty: Heroic
Player 1 Role:
Warthog Driver - Drive around the outskirts of the map, splattering enemies when appropriate. Communicate with Player 2 to prevent any mishaps.
Player 2 Role:
Warthog Gunner - Jump of the Turret of Player 1's Warthog and shoot any enemies that you see.
Player 3 Role:
Chopper - Drive around the main building, splattering the larger enemies as well as shooting the smaller ones.
Player 4 Role:
Spartan Laser/Back up - Pick up the Spartan Laser from the small room close to the spawn and camp on the balcony of the main buildings. Take out the Wraiths as soon as they appear with the Spartan Laser and provide back-up to your teammates.
This achievement will take you between 2-3 hours depending on the skill of the players.
The final clue you'll find is a hole in a wall. Once you find it, walk up to it and press to study it. This will trigger a flashback and the mission: Data Hive.
Note: Some people see to be having problems with the Junior Detective, Gumshoe, and Super Sleuth achievements. See below for a list of solutions.
- You cannot replay a level while in the middle of a campaign. - You cannot go from playing a campaign solo to co-op or co-op to solo. - If you're playing co-op, the person that studies the first clue should study all of the clues.
Load up Firefight - Alpha Site on easy and look out for the Grunts and Jackals that carry Needlers at the beginning of the first set. Kill one and pick up their Needler. Now simply kill the Grunts with the Needler and a medal should appear; notifying you that you scored a kill with the Needler. Repeat this method until the achievement unlocks.
Load up Firefight - Alpha Site on easy and look out for the Grunts and Jackals that carry a Plasma Pistol at the beginning of the first set. Kill one and pick up their Plasma Pistol. If there are Jackals around, aim at them, hold for a few seconds, and then release . The Plasma Pistol shot should lower their shields. From there simply melee them and they should die.
If there are no Jackals, do exactly the same thing but on the Brutes. Repeat this method until the achievement unlocks.
Load up Firefight - Alpha Site on easy and look out for the enemies that drop Plasma Grenades when they die. Pick them up and run in front of the Brutes and destroy their armor. When their flesh is exposed, stick them with a Plasma Grenade; they should die. Repeat this method until the achievement unlocks.
After around 5 minutes of beginning the campaign, you'll have to use a station to download the city map. Once the download is complete, the achievement will unlock.
As soon as you exit the crashed pod, head to the right and you'll hear the Superintendent's voice. Pick up the nearby health pack and the achievement will unlock.
When you see an enemy Wraith, pick up a Plasma Pistol and walk up to it. Unleash an overcharged shot on the Wraith and quickly jump on. Plant a grenade with the and the Wraith will blow up. You'll have to be quick, so if the achievement doesn't unlock first time, try again.
During any level, bring out your Automag, aim for the heads of the Grunts and shoot with . If you scored a head shot, the achievement counter will pop-up. Repeat this method until the achievement unlocks.
The third clue you'll find is the destroyed Gauss Turret. Once you find it, walk up to it and press to study it. This will trigger a flashback mission: Kizingo Blvd.
The first clue you'll find is Dare's Recon Helmet. Once you find it, walk up to it and press to pick it up. This will trigger a flashback and the mission: Tayari Plaza.
